  1. ok so i guess the data from the nz late archery is not important.
  2. why would I want to report report on a tag in February when I can still use it in September. I have 4 days end of september archery to use tags that haven't been used yet.
  3. if you look in at your hunting guide, it is mandatory to report and actually illegal not to. You can be ticketed taken to court and fined. And unles sthey know you were successful, how will they know you didnt report? You have 7 days to report and it can be done online now. I know a few guys who report they were successful even though they werent just to make themselves look good in their minds. So reporting is only as good as the reporters. Data can be taen several ways depending on who is reviewing it.
  4. I am thinking couple new trail cams and a couple two man ladder stands. I also want to get a new digital cam to record the good times.
  5. A few years back, a farmer was having problems with a bear climbing up his tree in the back yard. So, he hired this guy who came very highly recommended to catch the bear. The hunter came with a shotgun, rope, and a small dog. He gave the shotgun to the farmer and said, "Stay down here and I'll climb the tree, and shake the branches. When the bear falls, my dog will bite on his nuts, and while the bear is in agony, I'll come down and tie him up with the rope. Okay?" The farmer nodded his head and asked, "But what is the shotgun for?" The hunter replied, "Well, sometimes I fall off the tree. In that case, shoot the dog - and fast!"
  6. Two guys are out hunting deer. The first guy says, "Did you see that?" "No," the second guy says. "Well, a bald eagle just flew overhead," the first guy says. "Oh," says the second guy. A couple of minutes later, The first guy says, "Did you see that?" "See what?" the second guy asks. "Are you blind? There was a big, black bear walking on that hill, over there." "Oh." A few minutes later the first guy says: "Did you see that?" By now, the second guy is getting aggravated, so he says, "Yes, I did!" And the first guy says: "Then why did you step in it?"
  7. Two men went bear hunting. While one stayed in the cabin, the other went out looking for a bear. He soon found a huge bear, shot at it but only wounded it. The enraged bear charged toward him, he dropped his rifle and started running for the cabin as fast as he could. He ran pretty fast but the bear was just a little faster and gained on him with every step. Just as he reached the open cabin door, he tripped and fell flat. Too close behind to stop, the bear tripped over him and went rolling into the cabin. The man jumped up, closed the cabin door and yelled to his friend inside, "You skin this one while I go and get another!"
  8. A group of friends went deer hunting and paired off in twos for the day. That night, one of the hunters returned alone, staggering under the weight of an eight-point buck. "Where's Henry?" "Henry had a nasty fall and broke both of his legs. He's a couple of miles back up the trail." "You left Henry laying out there and carried the deer back!?!" "A tough call," nodded the hunter, "but I figured no one is going to steal Henry!"
  9. I wondered where my damn walker went. lol. And for the recoed this year was the first time I ever used an atv during hunting. I have always used man power to get around and get a deer back to camp. I dont own an atv and probably never will. Nothing against them, I just dont hve a need for one YET.
  10. I was pushing back. I can take rough but I can dish it out too. But a truce is fine with me.
  11. where abouts in the st lawrence may I ask. Just curious cuz the st lawrence is in my back yard.
  12. That's not an option for me, as I already have the .22-250, and don't have the money to justify a rifle I'd only use once or twice a year I can't argue with that logic. That points to me sticking with the slug slinger. I can argue it. I took a very northern new york 190 pound whitetail with a 25-06 115 grain bullet at just under 3200 feet per second. He ran 50 yards and piled up. I am willing to bet I could do the same with a 22-250. Bigger is not always better. In fact most guys who use the 25-06 for whitetail deer use either the 87 or 100 grain bullets. Yeah bullet designed for bigger gme are a good thing to have, but regardless shot placement trumps them all. Total pass through the ribs, lungs were jelly took out a 2 x2 inch chunk of ribs entrance and 3x3 chunk exit.
  13. truthfull ythere is no difference between 30-06 and 308 as stated. However there is little to no difference between 30-06 and 270, making them all in any hunting scenario equal. 270 is a 30-06 case necked down to take a .277 bullet instead of a 308 dia bullet. You can easily get 270 ammo anywhere from 130 to 150 grain. More than adequate for all you have mentioned. So take your pick and enjoy.
  14. my brain goes faster than my fingers when typing. I need to recheck all posts I guess. Hey fat pockets. I am shocked you didn't use a typo as a chance to make yourself feel better about yourself
  15. You can be prepared for disappointment with any caliber. The caliber doesnt make the shot, the shooter does. That being said, I would not use a 22 caliber for deer. However I use a caliber that most would say is marginal at best a 26-06. Marginal my butt. I will go up against any magnum caliber they make with it. My point. It is all a matter of opinion. I find it hilarious when ppl think they need a 300 win mag or 7mm mag to kill a whitetail. But to each their own. As long as it is cernter fire .22, it is legal. All being equal as in number of hunters using them, I bet the stats woul show more deer lost to arrow hits than 22 hits. I know I know shot placement with an arrow. Umm the same for a rifle bullet.
  16. Doc, The story you are referring to was near Tupper Lake, actually seavey corners about 8 miles south of Tupper. She had been feeding deer for a long time. There was a local ordinance to stop feeding which was passed because she was causing problems with deer crossing State rt 3 and 56 getting hit in a high number. She was warned to stop several time before they actually ticketed her. She lived at the intersection of two state highways with lots of traffic. Her problems were because of a township ordinance that was passed. I live aboutr 45 miutes from there and I remember when I was younget going up there on a sat afternoon to see the deer. There would be 75-100 deer in her feeding area.
  17. even if you supplement durng off hunting times, in places you unt, you can be construed as baiting during season. The deer get used to coming to the feed areas, and if you hunt near there, you are baiting.
  18. as much as I hate to admit it, statistically those over 40 are involved in hunting incidents 75 percent of the time. It is due to getting getting too comfortable. it is the same with driving accidents. But I will say this. I m ni ta teacher, but I am a certified ny stare insructor
  19. well lets see why I would not get a dmp for other reas and hunt state land. nuber 1 I read on here about all the yahoos on state land and getting shot at and all of that. Number two I am not going to throw a dart at a map and say yeah that is where I will go without puttig in some time to scout the area. number three I shoudl not have to get a dmp for another area to get meat just to satisfy the ones who think I should not shoot a small buck. I read the horror stories on here about how it is on state land in the sz and I say umm no thanks.
  20. shorten the season and double the fees. That will weed out a lot of the bad guys. geesh
  21. those of us north of the thruway do not get a vote. We only matter when it is time to pay for the tags.
  22. Psychiatric nurse practitioner on a mobile mental health team. Part time clinical instructor for nursing in the suny system.
  23. actually I just got back form a 3 mile walk and some weight training. Tv does not excite me. Your wife must be really tough on you. Doesnt it feel good to be a tough guy on here especially when she wont let you do so at home. I can see who wears the pants and who wears the panties.
