I have a concealed carry. Up until the past judge was elected, all you got here was concealed. Now it is much tougher to get one, even though the judge himself is a permit holder and hunter, so he is not anti gun. The thing with having open carry as I see it is you better be trained how to use the gun. There is always some hero who will try to make of you having a gun and try to prove he is better than the gun. In other words to me it just seems to open a can of worms most will never be trained to handle. Training will help yes. But like all training, if you do not use it you lose it. Yes uniformed officers carry. But they are trained to handle situations with the hope they never have to use it, and have retraining constantly. I personally think it is a violation of any legal gun owners rights to not allow them to carry. But I can see it turning into a bad situation, especialy for those who feel the need to carry all the time to feel safe. You all know a person that way. I have a friend who will not go anywhere without as he calls it a "piece" with him. I mean anywhere. He can not understand why I go places without a gun. I try to avoid going a lot of places with him as I expect there to be a confrontation. He is a fair at best shot, and can not handle himself in any way. If he ever had a time he needed it, the gun to him would be more of a detrement than a help. I have told him many times his gun would be used on him if he ever tried to use it. If he could carry open, he would flaunt a gun so everyone could see it. He gets such a false sense of security carrying. Will having an open carry deter someone from confronting you? I seriously doubt it. To me I would expect more problems carrying open. If I were allowed to carry open, I would continue to carry concealed. Should I and everyone have the right to yes. -

you really do not believe that the state bureaucrats would not make it longer and hire a hundred more people to inpterpret the data and take more money away from the real needs in conservation? I know you are smarter than that. -

wny if you lived where I do you would have the same complaints. I dont see where any other plan is going to work any better than the one we have. But keep brainstorming, I like to see creative minds. Maybe before all these ideas are thrown out, look at the whole state and how things are different. You want to do what is being proposed, you bring in your old license when you purchase the new one. They could get a scanner and scan to see what was used, and what wasnt. the data goes directly to the computers. Make it so that when you apply for a dmp, it doesnt have to be done by the last night people in the nz can use them. In other words move the time to apply back to October 15th. It is instant you know you get them or not. No need for it to be started in mid august and end october 1. put a cpu bar code on the license one trip through the scanner poof instant scanning and data collection. However, the way the system is now, it takes a year to get data back just tallyng the take. Hw long do you think it will take if they have to collect data on how many weren't? If you do not bring your old license, or proof that you reported all takes and used all tags, or you do not get a new license. If you report online, you can print a copy of your reporting. Bring those for all tags used and unused tags. Seems pretty easy to me. Now feel free to tear my plan apart. -

I know there is no reason, but I do it asap. I guess the good part is it will never happen. The state has a hard time compiling the data from the reoprts that are done now. They will not want to compile data of the deer not taken. I guess when there is no report it is assumed there was no deer, bear or turleys taken. -

again I ask the question. I know again northern zone pain in the azz, but, I have 4 days to use my unused tags at the end of september for archery. Am I supposed to report them as unused by February, then report them as used in September? Or do I just hunt those 4 days and not report anything? Oh I know I get it. Take away those 4 days and not let me start until 10/01. -

in my area, they hand out i would say quite a few tickets according to the papers and local news website. The paper says who go ticketed and the local site every couple weeks has court specifics. The fines run anywhere from 100 to 200 hundred depending on the judge. It isnt a 5 dollar dont do it again thing. The problem here is not the reporting. It is the deer taken illegally from the start, not the guy who does not report a take. The funny part is the report says deer take was up and people still complain it isnt enough. If people take a deer illegally and do not tag it or report it, they are not going to bother to report anyway. If there was a better more effecient way of catching poachers, we would all see a big difference in deer numbers. I will again qualify this statement by saying I am from the north and I really have no clue what hunting is. -

when I used to hunt state land with the guys, we had to drag. As I have mentioned, we would go out in the swamp and hunt. So when you had to drag, it was through the swamp. to the hard land then to the road. it would take us a fw hours to get one out. The worst was a 175 pound 10 point about 2 miles back and two of us. 4 hours later, the deer was at the truck. This year I shot a 190 poind 8 point. This was the first one I have ever had taken out with an atv. I shot him at 8:10Am. I dressed him and drug him about 500 yards ot the 4 wheler trail. Whn I called to say I had got one, they came with the 4 wheeler. They were amazed I had drug him as far as I had by myself. A few years ago, I would have took him all the way which was about a mile. I am 52 now and I still like to drag, but when alone, I am starting to realize it isnt all that easy.

So if they don't tag the deer, what makes you think they would honor AR's? Amazing how little thought is put into some posts. when I see posts like this, I can not help but think it is some anti trying to start stuff. They throw out a post here and there to see what they get for responses. In essence the post said all hunters are poachers and hunt illegally. Either an anti or a real dumbass, or both.

such generalizations. If you know no one ever tags deer, I hope you are turning them all in. And if we all hunt illegally anyway, why would we stop for something as silly as antler restrictions? In other words your post makes no sense.
