and that original owner better have paperwork to show who he sold it to or by law it is yours. If you decide to sell a gun now person to person and you go through the ny legal channels now, you are supposed to produce paperwork back to original owner or it can be considered an illegal firearm. Personally having a few that are not in my name I think is a good thing. So many wrinkles in this law that so few are aware of that basically no matter what you do it can be illegal. They have the right to rifle through your medical records to see if you have ever been on any medications for any mental illness, and almost everyone signs paperwork at their Dr office giving them that permission. You go to the Dr they push hipaa paperwork at you to sign. By signing it you are giving them permission to share it. That is all they need for certain things such as not renewing your pistol permit. If your renewal gets denied, they come and take all your forearms and no they do not need a warrant. The judge orders it who denied your renewal. Did you who have school age children know that school has to ask children if there are guns in their home? If they answer yes, then they are asked if they feel safe at home. If they say not guess who is going to be at your door. CPS and a trooper. Give up your guns or your kids. There is so much more to this. I do not understand why every NY'er is not up in arms pun intended against this. When I say I am doing what I can and have a local group trying to educate people I get scoffed at.

none if you can get the out of staters to sell to you. I have heard stories and grant you they are stories of vermont and pa stores refusing to sell to ny residents. I had a friend who went to cabelas in pa had ammo bought with a credit card asked to see his license showed his ny license they refused to sell to him. I buy components and make my own. I guess they have no control over that as of yet. I hope everyone in Ny remembers this when November comes along. Not just Cuomo but get rid of all the fools who voted for this in assembly and senate too. But unless this part of the law is started before November which I doubt it will, few will be motivated to do anything. And believe me the bigger concern is the house of representatives elections in November. If the libs get control of the house, you will see a national law that will make the safe act look like a jaywalking law. if you think it can not happen, then you are clueless.

they gain their control with background checks for ammo. They may not know what particular firearms you own, but they will know what calibers you own and how much ammo you but for each.

yes all that information is on the form you fill out to buy the gun

not better. it has been in there form the beginning. Very few bothered to read it as they did not think it would effect them. hell a lot of gun owners and others have no clue what the safe act even is. wait until you have to renew your pistol permit and they scan your health care records deny your renewal and then they come and take all your guns. Not just handguns, all guns. I have been attempting to educate people about this for a year and it mostly falls on deaf ears.

buy in bulk get called a hoarder. Plus the other wrinkle I have heard a lot of ammo sellers are going to get out of ammo including walmart state wide. Not worth the grief they need to do to get it done. Now they are saying due to not having a data base ready, it is being delayed. sure it is people will get pissed off before elections in november. It will be delayed until after then I guarantee it. Kind of like obamacare delay the part that will piss people off until after the elections. Funny how these politicians can take it upon themselves to change a law and no one questions it.

The Shot Heard Throughout N.Y.

For sure. I hope the fired does not go out before November and we get a viable candidate to send him packing. But remember the senate and assembly need a revamping too. They voted for it before he could sign it. -

My local fish and game assn is planning a trap and sporting clays and a simultaneous shot at noon at black lake. Anyone in the area is welcome. -
a haha I am right across the border from a good sized city in Ontario, So your remarks silly as they are, are not based in fact. As I said I have relatives all around Ontario and most said minimal ice more snow. Sorry if I hurt your little feelings by reporting the truth. oh and by the way Merry Christmas

Nice stories guys. My fondest memories are of going to our small one room usually over crowded camp in the daks when I was morphing into a young man. Aunts Uncles cousins parents and inlaws. There sure was no modesty for sure. I just loved sitting around hearing the stories as well as the banter and all in fun. My uncle would tell the same jokes every time we were there and we would laugh. My dad was pretty much the leader of the pack. Sitting around the table strategizing for the next days hunt always seemed to be up to him. There was no checking the wind or trail cams or food plots or worrying about scent on your clothes. Just good old fashioned walk and stalk or drives. The food, fun, laughs and all around fellowship was awesome. I fondly remember getting there Friday evenings and be able to see your breath in the camp. Get the fire going and sleep in your clothes to try to stay warm. My family seemed to be the first ones there. It was about a half mile off the main road and I always looked forward to seeing the headlights pulling in as others arrived. Now a days it seems we are all way too busy to even barely get together. This year a cousin of mine from those good ol days started hunting with me at my camp. We spent a lot of evenings this past fall talking about those great times. His 16 year old nephew would play on his ipad and ear buds and ignore us as we were "boring". That is the part that saddens me is I am afraid this type if thing will fall to the wayside. All of the older ones from that camp have passed on. Hell I am about the oldest now. I wish I had someone to listen to the stories I have been told and the ones I have of my own. The price we pay for technology I guess. I know I am a dying breed, but I do not plan to go quietly lol. My dad and my uncle got the 40 acre piece for the camp on a 99 year lease as the person who inherited it was under age. My uncle was a carpenter. He and my dad and other uncles tore down a house for the lumber and built the camp evenings and weekends. There was an old school bus there for a camp when they got it. It was surrounded by public access land, so there was tons to hunt The promise was that when she became of age, she would sign it over. Well long story short she refused, and the family lost it. She saw dollar bills in logging. The past time I snuck in to look at it, it had collapsed in and was ruined. I wonder how may people stumble upon it and wonder about its history. Probably not many. Anyway I would give anything I have for one last weekend with all of them present at the old camp. But since that is not possible, I will keep visiting in my mind. Not a ton of deer were killed there, but we did alright. I guess that is why I think there is much more to deer hunting than getting a deer. Sorry no monster deer stories, I will keep them to myself. Ok one. We had snow on Saturday night while we were there. Not a ton maybe 3 inches but good tracking. My uncle was part native american Mohawk. He went out to do so still hunting. I swear that man could walk in a pile of leaves and never make a sound. He got on a track that took him around the edge of a small swamp. He went around the swamp tracking and when he got back to the original spot, the deer was walking in his tracks. He went about 100 yards further hid up and waited. About 20 minutes later a decent 6 point appeared looking where he went. That deer sure tasted good. Please keep them coming guys. I love reading them.

sounds like the libs who attacked him. what he said is not as important as his right to say it. Can they fire him sure. but calling him names and running him into the ground is another story.
