I just finished a combo class last weekend with another instructor. I do not think I will do any more combo classes. However the guys I teach with are planning to do home study archery and gun and have one one week and one the next. This will allow people to sign up for one or the other or both. Most who signed up wanted the gun course and tolerated the archery part.

If it were an atf thing, all states would have to do it. Not all states require a permit to own a pistol. Dumb store policies.

The only place I can get goex is PA. NYhas made the regs so tough, no one in my area sells it. I have a buddy in pa who brings it to me when he comes home.

I teach it now. It was a joke about a previous poster who tried to tell us all the archery instructors went to albany and refused to teach crossbow. I am all for corssbows

I have the renegade also in 54. I love shooting it too. I was there after lunch. I only live 40 minutes or so from there. I forgot to add, I have had my best results with rws #11 caps.

You will love it. Yes the powder is measured in volume. I have a t/c hawken in 50 caliber I have had since 1978. Mine loves 80 grains of goex ffg 490 round ball and ox-yoke .010 thickness patches. You can google oxyoke patches and find them online. You can use patches you would use to clean, but the accuracy and consistency will be better with consistent patches. They also come in different thicknesses but the most are .010 .015 and .017. You will need to swab the barrel between shots for the best accuracy while sighting it in. I use generic windex at a dollar a bottle at walmart. A patch with windex then a dry one to take the moisture out. If you have a hard time getting goex, you can use pyrodex rs and it will work just as well. I have taken deer with mine and trust me do not underestimate a patched round ball. They do a great job. Work up a good load and you will be very happy. I was at the clayton show on saturday. It was good for sure.

the thing that struck me funny about this thread and I mean no offense but you do not have the right to buy ammo at walmart or any other store. They have the right to refuse any customer at any time, just like any other business can. They set their policies by the country not the state they are in. In other words if one state has a law it has to be done that way, they make all stores do it that way. This supposedly eliminates the chances of a person transferring to a different store in a different state and messing up a sale such as that.

I played drums in high school, then in a few bands after. My daughter is a music teacher at high school level, and she says the same,that playing an instrument is becoming a thing of the past. She blames it on the technology of today for kids.

I got mine yesterday at the local town clerk. No problems with the bow muzzle and the northern zone has an early muzzleloader and bow, so we need them. early bow is 10/1 and early ml 10/13.
