Spent many a night in the woods in the military. There isnt alot that will get me un nerved anymore. I had a pack of yotes run up on me in the dark one morning and I scared the living crap out of them. They took off snarling and yiping and barking. I was trying to be quiet but I laughed out load. The worse scare I had I was sleeping alone in the woods with my head against a tree and a squirell came right down the tree and jumped on my sleeping bag. I nearly had a panick attack trying to get out of my mummy bag to see what was attacking me.

Got out on whitney point with the boat a few times last week and picked up a few smallies around the islands along with a few small crappies and rock bass. But still no walleyes yet. Finally got out again tonight on the suckyhanna and wasnt expecting much due to the amount of rain we got the last few days. Water was the consistancy of chocolate milk but not much higher than its been running. Started out with the usual flourecent twisters and spinners without any luck. Was about to pack it in when I threw on a flour green crankbait and 1st cast I landed a nice 18 in walleye. Next cast I snagged up and lost the crankbait so I dont know if it would have caught me more but it was time to go home anyhow. Heading up to Oneida this weekend, buddy says the walleye have started hitting again so Ill see if I can get a 3 day limit of yummy fillets again. Were going for some perch to so it could be xtra yummy.

I was out in the woods the other day and hung two stands and im pretty lucky I dont have West Nile Virus. Skeeters are down right vicious this yr. Not to mention I trudged through a patch of poison ivy with shorts on, looking up in the trees for a good spot to hang a stand and didnt notice till i looked down for acorns and I was like oh crap!!! Legs itch like crazy from skeeters and ivy. Whos stupid idea was it to open bow season early!!!!

Found this funny and thought I would pass it on. If you are 36, or older, you might think this is hilarious! When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways...yadda, yadda, yadda And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that I'm over the ripe old age of forty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it! 1) I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! 2) There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents! 3) Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe! 4) There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself! 5) Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig? 6) We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it! 7) There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOSH !!! Think of the horror... Not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are. And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, the collection agent... You just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister! 9) We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen.. Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! 10) You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?! 11) There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards! 12) And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that! 13) And our parents told us to stay outside and play... All day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... You were doing chores! And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were lucky, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place! See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1970 or any time before! Regards, The Over 40 Crowd

I was surprised by Paul Ryan's speech
erussell replied to Deerthug's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I wouldnt be so sure since they had to break out the God card and the Jews card. They must really be hurting to offend half their base. But thats what happens when the race card isnt working anymore I guess. -
Hey, it only takes me about 40 min to walk 3 miles and im out of shape. A buck could cover that chasing a doe in half that. So I guess you never know.
-
Dang man those are monsters around these parts. I have only seen a handfull that big in my hunting area. You get any pics of that Trident buck yet?

All christophobes automaticly assume bible freaks are after them. It is a serious mental problem in the growing Atheist population. Its interesting how most Dems spout tolerance and co existance of views untill its in direct conflict with their perceived view of reality. -

I dont think the Dems get it at all. All Ive seen highlighted on the liberal news were social issues, there was a little bit on the economy but 99% was about social issues. Right now no one gives a spit about social issues!! What Mr President are you doing about putting regular Americans back to work? Ive heard your pandering to the unions about how you want to put them back to work but what about the rest of us? Im not a teacher or a cop, or a construction worker so what are you doing for me? Oh I remember for the rest of us its unemployement and welfare. The Dems are doing nothing but playing smoke and mirrors, they have no plan and they have no future for America!!! The Republicrats say something about the economy and the Dems counter with abortion and birth control???? What is that their plan for boosting the economy, killing kids and making drugs? Now just for the record Im for abortion. I beleive all regestered Democrats should have free access to abortion 24 hrs a day. -

Big browns should be right in there to gobbling up the eggs.

I see your slot limit and raise you an extra tag that will cost you $25 to shoot anything under a 3 point per side and $40 trophy tax if you want anything over 130. You got to pay to play.

Homemade fieldpoint target
erussell replied to dave6x6's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
Nice!!! Being poor and cheap, I usually just get a big cardboard box and stuff it full of card board in vertical layers with a few old blankets in the back for a buffer. Usually good for 100 or more shots with field point and 50 or less shots with practice broadheads before I have to re-arange the card board or add new. I get the life size printed poster like targets of deer and tape them to the box. Broadheads tend to be a pain sometimes as you have to seperate the layers of vertical cardboard and remove the broadhead from the arrow before pulling your arrow out. But it gives you a breather in between shots and its cheap and free. And when your done with it it can be tossed on the burn pile and makes a nice bonfire. -
Nice tulle Fusil-de-chase french trade gun. I am extremely jealous. I have for several yrs wanted to build one from track of the wolf in .54 cal. http://www.trackofth...Item.aspx/601/1 But have not had the time or the money to get around to doing it.

Shot this fighter 3rd day of gun last yr. There was a ATV that went through the woods about 400 yrds to my left then one about 500 yrds to my right and he split the difference and walked right up to me. Wasnt the first time this happened either. I use to hate the sound of ATVs going through the woods, now I cock the frontstuffer and get ready because 9 time's out of 10 there's deer coming.

Nice bucks!! Funny how one buck is shedding his summer coat and the other one is already done.

Interesting. I used muzzy 100s for yrs and had good performance with them, till I got married and our daughter and no longer had any money.I started using the cheapos and still killed deer so I guess it just depends on what you prefer. Heck ive killed a few deer using those cheap sattelite broadheads with the black carbon replaceable blades back in the late 80's and early 90's. They would come out the other side and hit the dirt missing a few blades but the deer would go down in sight with good blood trails. Just made for some nerve racking gut job's.

Shot agian today and I am impressed with how accurate my setup is shooting these. The only adjustment I had to make after I shot them through paper the other day is to move my rest a touch in. Never had to touch the vertical on the sights just a little horizontal and I was good which is unusual for me. Im stoked to get a deer in front of me this yr. Its amazing how much it boosts your confidence when your bow is dialed in good.

Not sure about strip clubs in Binghamton never been to one and dont plan on it. But I did go to one outside the gates on Fort Polk about 10 yrs ago that cured me real fast of wanting to go to another.
