  1. yeah, this isn't going to really be a huge recruitment tool.....at this point, lack of interest and dwindling numbers has very little to do with the weapons that are available.
  2. I think the biggest concern about full inclusion is the idea of a bunch of ying yangs, who never picked up a longbow, and never took an archery course, running out and buying crossbows and invading the woods thinking the weapon they are now holding is on par with a long gun.....at least that's mine. I think the majority of good, ethical hunters who have been hunting for awhile will not do that and will hunt with it much like they do with their compound or recurve....at least that's how I hunted with it, that and somewhat preserving the tradition of bowhunting the way I always envisioned it. I saw none of that last year, to be honest I didn't see another hunter hunting with a crossbow at all.....as far as it recruiting new hunters? I'd be very surprised if the numbers climbed that dramatically because of it.....harvest numbers would probably jump through the roof, but because of the hunters who know what they're doing already, those who suck will always suck no matter what weapon they choose....my biggest gripe of all was not making an archery course mandatory, especially if it's archery gear like many say....after hunting with a compound for 30 something years and using a crossbow for the first time last year, I will say it's 100x's easier then the compound and probably 1000x's easier then a recurve.....you remove so many aspects that are needed for being successful with a compound or recurve.......as much as I hate to admit it, if full inclusion happens, it will probably rank up there in the unfounded fear category, much like the dreaded youth hunt that was started a few years ago.
  3. I absolutely think that a bowhunter education course should be required to use one.....
  4. I agree, many places just pump them out as fast as possible.....I've seen quite a few that I've had to bite my lip while looking at them.
  5. I hunt with both compound and crossbow, I have no problem with the split season myself.........I can also understand the guys who don't want full inclusion as well as understand those who do, we can't all share the same feelings.....I'll also add that I'm personally against full inclusion, but not to the point of fighting against it.
  6. I got better patterns at 40 yards out of my Benelli with the Winchester Longbeards than the Hevi Shot Mag Blends.....that's with the 3.5's, also got some discoloration in my cheek while doing so...those things aren't too pleasant to shoot as far as I'm concerned.

yeah, I did miss the point.....I'll write letters, emails, and answer surveys from home as well as following any pending proposals or pending changes....that doesn't take much time or really interfere with other stuff I have going on. I don't have the time to devote to spending a few hours going to meetings to listen to topics that don't interest me......as far as how important it is considering all the other stuff that affects me and my family? probably down in the lower quarter on the scale....but I certainly do not do anything about it.

I think many greatly overestimate the amount of hunters who really give a crap about Deer management.....
  9. yeah, two bad decisions in one day....it takes a special person to run once already stopped.
  10. when you look at it, it's not like he saw the Officer from a distance and took off, the guy was standing right next to the truck talking to the kid when he made a decision to run......bad move and obviously something he made a conscious decision about doing.....tough to call that an accident.
  11. I would think a license suspension with restrictions is pretty inconvenient, not allowed to drive anywhere other then work, school and programs has got to be a pain for anyone.........at least for the person who follows the restrictions, but I doubt too many of those exist.
  12. yeah, I can't imagine prison is a good experience, community service, suspended license, heavy fine...something along those lines, but something to make him realize his mistake and not just a slap on the wrist.
  13. we see more and more "kids" killing and hurting people theses days with reckless and drunk or drugged driving then ever before.....at what point do you stop slapping them on the wrist and start really punishing them? maybe this kid, if punished properly, will smarten up and his buddies will learn from it as well......but probably not.
  14. I would think if someone is old enough to take on the responsibility of driving a motor vehicle, then we should hope they have the brains to know right from wrong and suffer the same consequences of someone 10 or 20 years older....
  15. I used 3.5" last year for the first time.....felt like I ate it almost as much as the Tom.
  16. sorry, been waiting to use that one and couldn't resist.
  17. just make sure the ground venison is free of fat, it can be hidden in many dishes, but in jerky it congeals into nasty tasting white spots once it cools.
  18. I saw a similar letter yesterday that was sent by another manufacturer, something about anything built on an AR upper is no good.
  19. remember, others may miss the smallest imperfection, but if you're anything like me, your eyes will always be drawn towards it and it'll drive you nuts.
  20. that's what I'm thinking....I just grabbed that photo to show a base that would cover any mess.
  21. I don't think so, but I think the part that goes over the box that has the threaded hole for the mounting screw can be played with a little or maybe you can make or modify something that would work???
  22. get a fixture that sits on a square or rectangular base and slide it over till its centered on the wall. I think the backs are pretty much open for wiring so room to play with......maybe, or at least it will cover the hole if you have to move it.
