  1. Wow....some great air on them deer and a sweet fox shot! Thanks for sharing them!
  2. Thanks FE! Thankfully he ran out in front of my mountain bike and not a car. I wear my camera like a necklace. I missed the last buck in the group. He was another good'n. I just got another cudde I'll be setting up in this area. It's a mile or so from home but you know how their patterns change with the seasons when the corn's ready for the pickin'. I think this wont be the last I see of him.
  3. I'll let the pics speak for themself.
  4. Ummm.....NO. Not even close. This past winter alone I found right around 30 dead unrecovered/winterkill/roadkill deer within a 2 square mile area surrounding my hunting grounds while shed hunting. These were obviously not reported to concsider towards the total harvest for the area. That number is not exagerated in any way. I don't know how they can accurately guestimate herd #'s statewide and more importantly localy and continue to pass out DMP's like lolly pops at the barber shop for my DMU.
  5. I'll tell ya what... and not to sound like bad azz, but the day I get shot at in my punkin' suit I'll have no problem returning fire.....period. Then EVERYONE will know where I'm coming from. I wonder if they miss me but I hit them............would it be concidered self defence if they miss first???
  6. You know what's funny about this.......? ??? You thought it was funny. Don't quit your day job Jokey-mon. : Seems to me someone forgot to put the transom plug in this vessel. :-X
  7. Thanks Ed....I'll photo chop a rack on it next time. Glad you could relate.
  8. Doc, that's more of a reality than I once believed. This past spring while working a gobbler I tossed my lit ciggy to the side and readied my bow. Began calling for a while but the bird went away from me. When I turned my attention to the tree beside me I had my bow resting against I noticed the plume of smoke blowing away from where I'd tossed the butt. Sat there and watched it for a bit and about 2 minutes later it ignited the leaves around it like they were dowsed in gasoline. Not something I'd expected to happen in the damp spring leaves but once that sucker got lit there's no telling when or where it would have stopped.
  9. A few years back I gained permission to hunt a neighboring propperty next to the land I'd purchased. Long story short, my new neighbor didn't believe in B.O. I still hunted my way just along the back of a field edge about 20 yds inside the woods. I caught movement and watched as 2 does emerged from the thicket and moved into the open timber to about 50 yds. I shouldered my 50 cal and dropped the lead doe in her tracks. As I moved in to recover and dress my deer I caught movement above me and looked up. About 10 feet off the ground and about 10 feet to the side sat my neighbor all camo clad in his climber flapping his hat at me. The two deer had fed right under his tree. I certainly felt like a piece of crap and almost slobbish to not have noticed him and 1'st of all for shooting in another hunters direction. I just shrugged my shoulders and shook my head in embaressment, grabbed my deer and dragged it home. When I got home I realised how close I'd come to to becoming a part of the statistics sheets as the shooter. Later that night the phone rang and it was him calling to scream at me for what had happened and tell me to stay off his propperty. I calmly replied with...."Gladly" and hung up the phone. We never spoke again but he had me labeled around town as the slob who shoots deer right out from under ya. I can live with that....suppose it's better than the guy that shoots you out of a tree. :'( Guess he got lucky I'm a relatively good shot and that bullet didn't deflect. I wear orange durring any gun season for that reason alone.
  10. Pretty sweet looking bucks there. Hope you can get some better pics.
  11. Must be spending too much time in the woods. This little gal got so close at one point that my cam wouldn't focus on her. That's about 4 feet. She never cared when I moved or walked towards her. I was a bout to leave when she headed into the weeds along the creek. She bolted out and stopped about 5 feet from me then kept doing fly byes like she wanted me to chase her, lol. Thought she was gonna follow me home. By far the most entertaining experience I've ever had with a wild whitetail! Here's a few shot's, I was running out of light so I lost a lot of pics.
  12. Had to come home to get a bigger container.....I ran outta room in my hat. I'm going back for few more.
  13. From a few other angles I got, I think you're correct. I think he cracked that main beam and now it's growing downward.
  14. Got a name for it WNYbuckhunter? I'll admit, the only thing holding me back from Tioga was the price increase the past few years or I'd have booked already. I suppose if we don't have hogs to hunt here I'll need to pay the piper for my "exotic hunt", but it's the price I'm willing to pay if they can offer a true hunt feel. Just something that doesn't feel entirely right to me yet about Tioga even though I've talked to them at the outdoors shows....I just can't put my finger on it.... Maybe just the negative reviews waying on my mind. :-\
  15. Yes it would. Just a bit of my sarcasm to open some eyes by someone thinking I'm a dumbass. Like I said...never had a need for one till now. I'm petrified of heights, trees, rooftops, FALLING AND LAYING THERE TILL MAYBE SOMEONE FINDS ME....... I know it's no joking matter but sometimes that's the only way anyone takes you seriously. Plans for a good harness are in the works and I may even come around to using it for hunting from a stand one day. MAYBE. :-\
  16. As long as you don't type in brail, I can probably make sence of it. No worries.
  17. Did it twice. Both times with big fat alums so it didn't set me back too much. They "flower" a lot better than carbons IMO and just look much prettier at a fraction of the cost! That was a long time ago.
  18. Not to open a can of worms here about canned hunts but what better critter to pen in. Anyone ever go here to kill a pig? I've heard mixed reviews of the experience but believe this is a hunt/harvest I may enjoy with the bow one day close to home. :-\

    YAHOO

Congrats Gutpile- take plenty of pics for us,lol! You'll see all kinds of interesting things there. :'( :-*
  20. Over about a 3 year period I raised and released somewhere around 500 birds on my propperty. Some set free as chicks, some as 1 yr olds, some 2 yr olds and a handfull of 3 year olds. The results were much the same with every age class. They were all released in an agricultural area at appropriate times of year for ripe food sources and cover and would stick to the area for about a month before vanishing completely. We'd see a few of the survivors walking the shoulder of the roads in the spring occaisionaly. I believe their biggest predator here was hawks especially in the winter. We saw quite a few of them fall to the aerial attackers. These birds were also never hunted by the locals in the area as they just enjoyed seeing them from time to time as well. It got to be too costly to justify raising them with such a low survival percentage.
  21. Can't say for sure. He was quite a ways off and the pics gave me the best look at him so far. Drop tines seem to be the latest thing on this propperty lately. Here's a match set of sheds I found this past winter from a buck I have video of last fall durring bow season. He came running in to the rattlin antlers and hung up at 80 yds. I still haven't seen him this summer yet.
  22. I smoke like a chimmney and don't use cover scents or eliminator sprays...never had a problem killing deer. Also don't like to see ciggy butts laying all over in the woods so I pop the cherries on mine and stick them in my pocket. According to the rule book of whitetail hunting, I should never see a deer let alone kill any.

    Geese

Just waiting for a clear shot....I think they seen me coming and are trying to hide or they're getting ready to return fire!
  24. I don't hunt from a stand but I have been using them for pictures lately.....never had a need for a harness so I never got one. I don't think anyone would miss me anyhow. :'(
