I need help with VOTES in a photo contest again this year. You guys helped one of my friends win one of the cameras last year... even though I fell a little short by entering late, we put the heat on the leaders big time! Here's the link to the contest page: https://acm-summer-scenic.pgtb.me/2VCWdH Here's the pic I entered titled "Periwinkle" Hopefully I can close the gap on the leader who is over 100 right now. Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I'm not sure what I do now would be considered scouting, but I do spend quite a bit of time getting familiar with a lot of the bucks in the neighborhood this time of year. I've sort of given up with the cameras myself...., unless I'm the one that decides when to trigger it. So far I've gone 3 seasons in a row seeing and killing bucks that I've watched and photographed over the summer. I just like knowing which of the better deer have potential to become "home bodies" as fall approaches. It has helped me get over shooting the first legal buck to step out many times now.

Those are really sweet! I'm torn between the daisy foreground shot and the one in the snapped off timber stand. I like the dark side, so I'll go with the timber pic! Glad you didn't post any close-ups of the "little dipper",lol

If there was a way to bottle a deers layed back summer personality, there wouldn't be an ounce left on the shelf come fall! Pretty crazy some of the stuff you can get away with out there right now.

LMAO- you just gave me a serious case of TURTLE SYNDROME! Could be weeks before he comes back out of his shell...

Are you hitting on me...? That's the best pick-up line anyones ever thrown at me in YEARS! Take me and do as you wish with me Pygmy you stud, lol!!!

Well that's 2 more than I've ever seen! Neat little guys from what I've read about them. I really need to get out more to start experiencing some of these creatures that don't live in my neck of the woods. I was really excited to find some porcupine sign here this spring but have yet to see one in the wild. It almost feels like I'm now hunting some exotic species and I'm constantly on the look out for one!

Thanks guys... sorry I let you all down, lol db- I'm the LAST person to give camera care advice. My camera get treated like the rest of my hunting gear. It's just another tool that gets used and abused! All I use for editing is Nikon View NX and an outdated version of Noise Ninja. I shoot in RAW and only make basic adjustments. (sharpening, contrast, highlights, white balance...etc) I would have got a shot of the chupe, but I had mud on my lens! Doe- if I see one of my pics on someones t-shirt..., I'll just steal their shirt. That never really bothered me about marking my pics. Like you said, they're really not all that good anyhow! If someone really wants a pic from the web, watermarks aren't too hard to edit out. I'd be flattered if someone actually did "steal" one of my shots!

Haha- I don't post my GOOD stuff here Doe! You gotta pay for those! I'll work on the hotspots and comps just for you,lol

Started the weekend out from the observation stand, I kept seeing this hawk in the distance snatching up snakes from the clover. I forgot about him after a while until he fell out of the sky like a bowling ball right in front of me! His meal slithered away once he layed eyes on me. With the hot weather I thought I'd go see what's swimming around in the crick yesterday. Found that same momma wood duck that got blasted by the hawk a couple weeks ago, but she's down to 3 ducklings now. I'm glad she survived the attack but I sure would have liked to see the hawk eat her! A little further along I found this beaver gnawing on some branches that got washed downstream from the latest storm. I didn't try... but he was so oblivious to me being there that I think I could have scooped him up with my hands, lol At one point he walked right past me about 4 feet away. He finally figured out he was being followed and cooled me off with a flick of his tail before cutting under the creek bank. On my way out I spotted another nose poke out of the water. I'd finally found what I keep coming back here for. My first mud dragon of the year! Hope everyone had as much fun as I had this weekend!

Ha- looks like the gaurd dog is OFF DUTY! Hopefully any "would be" intruders will trip over him and drop the valuables!

Same here Burt. My best night so far had 18 different bucks show up in the field at dusk. Lots of yearlings in the mix, but it's been a bunch of years since I've seen anything close to those kind of #'s here. Hope your cam doesn't overheat from all the action!

Don't expect many here to read the entire article, but for those who choose to, it explains a lot of the disagreements going on here lately in many threads. Pretty darn accurate IMO. I thought it was rather post worthy to open a few minds to new possibilities of working together around here. http://www.visiomundi.net/openjournals/index.php/wildliferesearch/article/view/8/html_8

Pretty cool catch! They are extremely vulnerable out in the wide open like that. I've yet to see a doe bring a fawn to the field to feed while I've been there this spring/summer. I think they know better by now!

Out of everyone on this site that I've seen pics of.., you win the award for MOST... and WHITEST teeth, lol Nice catch there... "Marlboro Man"! You guys are making me wanna wet a line again.

Good stuff TF! We need to work on your "happy days" smile! Looks like your daughters had a good time with the grumpy old guy anyhow! -
Nice pics and story line ...rob! I'll bet it was nice to just get away for a while even if the fishin' wasn't the best. Great views between the boulders and across the lake. Looks like my kinda place!

Thanks guys! Paula- I THINK that's a hoof wound, but I don't know for sure. They've been kicking the crap out of each other the past week or so. You can see in the one pic where the smaller buck just got scarred by the other guy. That mark wasn't there just before that.

Didn't see the one I was looking for last night, but he'll be back. I had to switch locations to get a little closer to the action. This field is the first to fall into the shadows as the sun sets. While not very good for photographing deer, it's a great spot to see them before they hit the main field. .... and a shot from the adjacent "boneyard".

Git' ur guns ready,lol

This only lasted a minute last night from the observation stand. The sunsets here glow spectacular-iilly if you catch them at the right time! It literally painted the forest orange, and was pretty amazing to see! Unfortunately buck sightings were limited to two punks the entire night. Would have loved to have caught one in this light!

Thought Jenny was just hanging out and "chillin'" with some friends this afternoon, but looks like she's runnin' wild and free again! I knew there was one missing, lol

Because I have only heard you and a few others fabricate stories of what they believe is going on here so I felt entitled to my own version if that's alright. Eddie ain't giving up any explanations, so who the hell is everyone to tell me I'm wrong? We see members here every year who are not up to speed on all the game laws even during the most popular season of all....deer season. When those newbs come here and see that Eddie is packing heat because he got a couple coyote pics on cam, well that tells them that it's ok to kill them out of season according to the members of this community and have their full support.
