  1. It goes without saying, and we know you don't need it, but maybe someone will give you a few bucks for your birthday, lol Happy B-day!
  2. Not sure, but whatever you do..., DON'T STICK IT DOWN YOUR PANTS!
  3. Look for "wild life" concentrations around the local watering holes when Buffalo weather takes a turn for the worse. Many creatures diets consist of only liquids at these times. It's not uncommon to see the predator-prey roles reversed during the long battles with old man winter. Young bucks often come out in force to feast on the old cougars that are attracted to the neon lights!
  4. Definitely from a 10pt, with split brows, two drop tines, and a broken G3 on his right side. He's better than the one you think he is,lol.
  5. I was more curious how he knew all these mature deer were being killed at night. Seems that would be something you would report on the spot without hesitation...... unless of course you're basing the claim entirely on speculation. I agree, if you WITNESS something, it should be reported. Spotlighting is legal when certain other criteria are met (distance from dwelling, permission, no loaded weapons, etc..._). Unless a shot is personally heard or seen fired, I wouldn't waste a DEC officers time reporting anything, allowing him to focus on actual violations where actual evidence and witnesses exist, and not just a story with the blanks filled in.
  6. Had a similar story happen around here a few years ago from one of the game farms when a bunch of bison escaped. I thought more than one got shot, and I don't know what happened to the shooter, but if I remember correctly they had no problem with these things being killed on sight for public safety reasons even though they encouraged folks to keep their distance if spotted and alert authorities instead. http://archive.wgrz.com/news/article/161780/1/Missing-Bison-Still-Roaming-In-Wyoming-County

    how many bear

I've seen two separate bears on 3 different occasions right here in Erie county and some tracks in the snow once. Two or three more Canadian sightings from our family vacations when I was a kid. All were mid to late spring encounters. Spotted my first while driving down Emery Rd. He ran out in front of me and stopped in the ditch before disappearing into the park. Ran into my second bear behind my house a few years ago while hiking for antlers and got some good pics of him. The next day he found his way down to my neighbors yard where I watched him snacking on the bird feeder. Never saw one during hunting season, but I think I heard one "huffing" at me from my stand about 4yrs ago.
  8. Oh crap...everybody remain calm...this one was spotted in downtown Buffalo this morning. They crossed the lake on 8ft of snow last week and now they are trapped here!
  9. I'm sure public land is frustrating, but often times even gaining access to private land can throw a few curve balls into your strategy depending on who else the landowner allows to hunt his property. One private chunk I hunt, the owner lets anybody and everybody in as long as they ask. He's just being a nice guy and doesn't give much thought to the fact that there may be too many guys back there at once and how annoying it is to run into another hunter every way you turn. Sometimes you just need to pattern the other hunters in an area and make some adjustments to your own hunt when others don't or refuse to. I know it sounds like you guys did right by passing up the first chunk of woods, but it may be a matter of assembling your hunting party on a week day to curb the kind of encroachment you guys experienced by those two. I don't think you should be forced to alter your approach, but if you wish to continue to enjoy your hunts there, it may be time to consider alternative options. It sucks, but sometimes you just have to work around what others are doing when you're sharing hunting grounds.
  10. Haha- I've got buck blood coursing through my veins right now and you want to play in ant hills! C'mon city boy, you gotta be tougher than that if you want that extra edge, lol
  11. Take your time Burt..... I understand you don't get to see blood trails and antlers in the same pic often!

Now that's my kind of artificial tree!
  16. Oh crap... .....that ain't lung blood, lol Skinning my skull today when I found out I'm more likely to get stabbed than I am shot during hunting season when I don't wear orange! I splattered it around a little for extra horrific effect, but it was leaking pretty good. Probably could have used a stich or two, but I didn't want to contribute to NY's hunting related accidents and let you guys down!
  17. That's all you can really do at this point is prepare yourself and pray! Good luck as we melt down.
  18. No problem..., that'll be $120 with your HuntingNY member discount. How old is your place?
  19. Your wash tub shouldn't be tied into any underground drain tile or storm sewer lines. It should be on the sanitary sewer that has the house trap, so you should be good to go pumping into that if need be.
  20. Sure wish I could find one of these guys flying around Erie County. I know guys occasionally spot them along the Niagara River, but I don't get out that way often enough to successfully hunt one down.
  21. I've got a box of Kleenex that says you're wrong,lol
  22. If a doe is actually "hot" she may leave a scent and pheromone trail that could be followed by bucks for several hours afterwards. That's information I gather only from watching hot does get chased by me and what happens after that. To see a lone doe roll by doesn't really tell you much, but next time you see her she may have a conga line of bucks on her tail.
  23. No, they have bucks behind them, make no mistake about it.
  24. I spent my day shoveling off Santas landing pad on my parents house today. Not for the weak of heart, or any of you other old farts out there. No coal for me this year..... I'm whooooooped, but I did celebrate my finish with a victory leap from the peak! That's A LOT of freaking snow up there folks!
  25. Man WNY Bowhunter, seems like every time you lay eyes on a buck of that caliber he ends up getting killed by someone else. I'd quit scouting with that kind of bad voodoo going on! Helluva buck!
