  1. I don't disagree with you. But I don't think its up to a private company to cure the ills of the nation. People get the government and sociaty they vote for. elections have consequences. both parties are bending us over. i don't disagree that large corporation are benefitting from the current enviroment. But i don't blame them. It's in their nature to maximize profits. I blame the ruling class, those with "R" and "D" following their titles. but maybe this topic should revert back to God's Clowns in Baltimore...what are they burning today?
  2. Read this article about H1b Visa. http://www.computerworld.com/article/2879083/southern-california-edison-it-workers-beyond-furious-over-h-1b-replacements.html Also read below about the law of supply and demand in regards to labor http://smallbusiness.chron.com/laws-supply-demand-affect-labor-market-58242.html The effect of inexpensive labor from abroad has depressed U.S. wages even as jobs have been lost. The Third World has a virtually unlimited supply of labor, which is becoming more skilled with the passage of time. why was my statement dumb? please provide facts as to why the law of supply and demand is no longer relavant I’m not saying there isn’t some lazy American that won’t work. What I responded to is why the middle class is shrinking. If you really want to understand read up on NAFTA. It was put in place mostly likely about the time you were born. Also read up on globalization. Wildcat junkie is correct at pointing out the concern about outsourcing. Certain jobs can’t be outsource (burger flippers / retail sales / Construction / farm), but all these jobs can be impacted by a vast increase of immigration. Immigration that is subsidized by the American taxpayer in the form of free healthcare, social welfare programs and the like.
  3. General motors committed sucide. poor managment in both the Union higher ups and corporate managment killed that company. It basically folded a few years back and was reinvented thru a government secured bail out
  4. Germany is looking to follow Canda's immigration policy http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/germany-looks-to-canadian-model-for-immigration-policy-inspiration/article23381683/
  5. Steve863 - I’m not try to argue either, just sharing a POV. you raised some valid points, but remember certain jobs can't be outsources (skilled trades) as for outsourcing, legislative action can resolve this. however, both parties would oppose this action
  6. Steve - The country was empty back then...lots of room to expand. our nation was unregulated and expanding. its an apples and oranges comparison you are making. My point is basic economics...the more of something you have (in this case labor), the cheaper that thing is. My company can hire 3 indians for my salary. so in the eyes of my company I am overpaid. hence they want more HI visas. My brother who is a contractor needs to compete against numerous Illegals. so his daily rate hasn't changed in over ten years. I'm just pointing out the reality of the situation. This country is basically filled. we need to follow canadains immigration policy...see below anadian Immigration Requirements Share on tumblrShare on facebookShare on twitterShare on emailShare on printShare on gmailShare on pinterest_shareShare on favoritesMore Sharing Services Applicants must satisfy the following points requirements to qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker program.Work Experience To satisfy the point requirements you must have at least one year of full-time paid work experience in fields that satisfy Canadian immigration standards such as managerial jobs, professional occupations, or technical / skilled trades. For more information about the jobs and occupations that Canadian immigration considers valid, visit the National Occupational Classification website: www23.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/2001/e/generic/welcome.shtml. Education The main applicant will likely need at least some completed post-secondary education. Of course, up to a point, the more education an applicant has the better that person’s chances become. Education is a very important aspect of the evaluation process . Language Abilities Language is also very important. English and French are the two languages that count for points in the Canadian immigration requirements. Of course, to be fluent in both provides more points to any applicant, but fluency in one of these two languages will increase any applicant’s chances significantly. Age 10 points are awarded to applicants between 21 and 49 years of age. 2 points are removed for every year older or younger (to a maximum of 10 points). Arranged Employment With a permanent job offer from a Canadian employer, applicants may be awarded an additional 10 points. Adaptability The Canadian government also takes adaptability into account when evaluating any applicant. The adaptability category addresses a potential applicant’s perceived ability to adapt quickly to life in Canada. The Canadian Government will award any applicant who has relatives in Canada or has spent time in Canada working or studying. Point Structure This is the point breakdown for the Canadian Immigration Requirements for Federal Skilled Worker. Work Experience: Maximum 21 Points Education: Maximum 25 Points Language: Maximum 24 Points Arranged Employment: Maximum 10 Points Age: Maximum 10 Points Adaptability: Maximum 10 Points TOTAL POINTS: Maximum 100 Points POINTS REQUIRED TO PASS: 67 Points
  7. Mr. VJP - To answer your question concerning immigrating to Canada or Mexico... Canada = has an intelligent immigration policy. You have to prove worth to Canada (can't be a burden on the state) before you can move there, hence free loaders aren’t allowed to move there Mexico = has very limited social welfare. Hence free loaders won't move there
  8. The middle class is striking because of Illegal and Legal immigration (H 1 visas). Native born American's are being displaced. I/T workers are being forced to train their Indian / Chinese replacements. Construction workers have seen their wages stay the same for years because there are too many south Americans competing for construction work. Both Republican and Democrats are to blame for this. The political class if bending us over! Occupy Wall Street distracted you and others from this reality BOHICA
  9. Occupy Wall Street was a Executive branch / Democratic party / Union lead effort...
  10. go to some local gun shops and get her a used 410. if she stays with hunting, you'll be replacing it for a 20 or 16 ga in a few years
  11. ask yourself why we have high taxes in NYS. if you are honest with yourself, you'll concluded both policical parties are to blame. They both buy votes on your dime. NYS is a lost cause. the only way to save the state is to reform public sector unions (pensions..raise retirement/ collection age to that of social security!), cut back public benefits to those unwiling to work and make 100% of the residences pay some taxes, once they have skin in the game they will call for responsible spending.
  12. Your premise is wrong. Real life example - my wife was forced to join a union for a nursing job. They took money out of her pay for medical insurance. The only thing is the union never bought the insurance. She worked there for 6 months without insurance, was supposed to have it after 1 month. She ended up having to quit and go to a non-union nursing job to get insurance. They did come around quite often tell the other nurses that they had to go march at occupy wall street and donate add’l funds to dems...they just wouldn’t buy health insurance (kinda ginning up the masses to support Obamacare) To be honest, I HATE public sector unions. I feel they ruined this state. I have no issue with private sector unions. I also think anyone should be able to join a union if they want. I just wish they could opt out of one if they wanted to. enough union bashing, its an unwinning conversation. peoples opinions are too deeply rooted
  13. sure, ok....what about the 'right to work' and not be forced to join an organization you don't believe in?

  19. Teenage years = life guard / lawn mowing / busboy / waiter / food prep/ farm work/ construction College years = 50+ hours a week construction and night school (earned three college degrees this way) Early career - probation officer Late twenties to present (20+ yrs) – database admin / statistician / landlord....current Sr. Director of DB Marketing for fortune 100 company Fyi – I never hire anyone that didn’t have a paying job by the age of 15. If they said their first job was after high school, they never get a call back
  20. Make sure it wasn’t infected with Bacillu. A bacillus (rod-shaped) bacterium that causes photosensitivity, hysterical blindness near mirrors, overdevelopment of canine teeth, and production of a bulletproof adhesive. Victims feed on blood. While in the body, it is anaerobic, and causes the victim to exhibit zombie-like behavior. Outside the body, it sporulates into dust. If an infected person is cut deep enough, the bacteria turns them into powder. Can be treated, but not cured, with a pill containing a fusion inhibitor and dehydrated blood.
