One more lesson, that big buck that hit the scrape will return 45 min after you leave to taunt you. So funny. Wish I could hunt tomorrow. He is seeking hard.

I would wait. Even with yotes. You push him or they push him, it’s all done.

Tonight was the reason I hunt and no arrow released. Couple of lessons learned: 1. When you get in stand and see that lane to scrape you are hunting isn’t clear, clear it. If you don’t, you will have a giant come in and work the scrape but not take the two steps forward to get a clear shot. Lol. Instead he will walk directly away from you will you are drawn and swearing to yourself. That’s twice that big boy escaped an arrow. Still awesome. 2. When a little buck circles in front of you and behind stand don’t assume the noise is him. It could be another giant that gets spooked when you turn to look at the 3pt. 3. Sometimes that second giant (20” inside easy) will come in from directly down wind and not give a darn until he is spooked by the 3pt you startle. 4. That second giant may never show on cam but he is there. awesome and frustrating night. Sorry @crappyicei almost got it done for you!

And Lord is it hot out. Is it legal to hunt in my skivies? A little worried that a rush of single toothed women may ruin the hunt.

Man, I planned to sit this afternoon. You all are not motivating me. lol

Feel bad when folks pick me. I am just not spending much time in a stand this year. About 16hrs total this year so far. No rutcation and weekends are busy. Definitely not the norm. I will try to get out a few times this week though so who knows. I do have a couple of giants around. Culver saw a 160 plus on Sat at my place but no shot. So that’s good news (not the no shot - wish he’d got him).

I think he was saying it’s better to move stands when wind is wrong than sit all day and not see deer because he didn’t move. Could be wrong.

I am sure I killed plenty of doe in PM but 7 of my 11 mounts were killed before noon. I think early and late season PM hunts are much better odds, but come rut time, I have enjoyed mornings.

As I sit here waiting for a buck, I was flipping through photos and this one still cracks me up. My buddy missed him after they ran by him. He got LUCKY that day. Only time I caught that in person. Real rut action.

I been sitting since 6am. No bucks seem. Have a few doe nearby but that wood stove sounds way better. I am just resigned to making it until dark just in case. But it’s not very rut like here.

Lol. From your lips to Gods ears. If the wind shifts as predicted I may just sit a stand 20yds downwind of the scrape he worked last night. Maybe he will make a repeat appearance. That would be nice. Regardless it was awesome seeing him.

Well some excitement. Doe blowing like crazy upwind of me and running around. Only caught flashes of tail in brush. Guessing a buck was annoying her. Here here mr buck.
