Couldn’t help but give a taste to my dog. The thought of my German Shepherd eating a black Bear was too much for me to resist. She must have liked it. Begging for more.

This bear did not die in vain. Not sure if it’s Culver’s rub but it’s delicious. Not fatty and no gaminess at all. I am way more impressed than expected. Now I am happy the rest of the family refuses to give it a try. Lol

Casing is the only way to go. You need to be under 10 years old to want skinless!

I didn't. Mike Edwards who got one gave us meat. Bob dropped it off to me. Looked a bit big for opossum. lol

Trolling is easy fishing, unless you are the guy constantly changing lures, depths, etc while everyone else waits for you to hand him a rod with a fish on. lol

Black bear has been sitting in the famous Culver Creek rub since this morning. Should be interesting.

I am still waiting for the antlers to start growing on any of the bucks we have around. Surprisingly, they all still look like does. But I am sure one will turn into a giant between now and Oct. 1. lol If not, I am going to "borrow" WNY Bowhunter's stand.

Thanks for all of the replies. My buddy told me I can borrow his trailer and tractor whenever needed. So I may just end up with buying a mower. We shall see.

For mobility and the ability to set up in any tree, I really like the lone wolf with sticks but it is more effort to set up especially for us bigger folks.

TFs method was awesome and the house smelled great for 24hrs! As good as any pulled pork I ever had.

I have the Goliath. It’s a great climber. I don’t need to use it much but very comfortable and good for big guys. I am close to 350 and it holds me fine. If you are close to Rochester and want to try it, let me know. Dont climb shag bark no matter how perfect that tree is location wise. I had a scary ride once. Lol. And be sure to have a tether from top to bottom just in case. At 250 I am guessing you don’t like shimmying down trees.

Always loved elephants. Seem like caring giants. So I don’t think I would kill one or primates. They just seem to close to human. No issue with those that do legally. Big cats are a question mark for me too.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I have to walk 200 or even 300yds from my truck before sitting for 4 or more hours. But I don't let that stop me.

If the question was posed to me, I am not saying some individual deer don't have better instincts than others, I am sure they do. What I am saying is that when you have a larger population of deer the chances are greater that you will encounter one whose instincts failed them or they just got stupid chasing a doe. I guess my comment was more along the lines of the idea that bucks in NY as a group aren't necessarily smarter than those out west. They may just have better populations with fewer folks chasing them.

location, location, location. I have said it many times here, the right property ups the odds of a hunter killing those 3 plus year olds tremendously. I am fortunate to have several small but good parcels to hunt which no doubt makes its easier to kill nice bucks. I am sure there are many better NY hunters than I that just don't have similar property and kill 3 year olds on a less regular basis. So perhaps that applies on a national basis with some states having far better options for deer dense property. Not sure the deer are smarter, some areas just have more of them. Being in the right spot is 1/2 of the equation with closing the deal being the second 1/2. Without a fair opportunity on the first 1/2, that hunter wont have many wallhangers. And, if you can get it done regularly in the ADK, I tip my hat to you. That is not a deer dense area with far fewer opportunities.
