Testing. Seems if you start to quote and don't finish, it keeps haunting you until you do -
Hey stop criticizing my buck!

No TF. I got that photo of a different property right before this occurred in front of me. My buddy called the neighbor of that property who said it was him. I guess they decided not to track based on photo. Like I said, manana loco. Lol -

Memory of a lifetime for this kid. I sure want it to be a good one. His dad said it will be bigger than any buck he ever shot. I am just praying for an easy recovery for them. -
Simple Prayer of gratitude. I then call Pygmy since he has the knife.

Turned out to be an interesting morning. Had a 120s class 8 (very big) come in downwind of me. Pushing a spike out of thick stuff. Sure enough, he winds me and heads away from me towards line where neighbor that I do not know yet is sitting. Clear line of site. Buck stays on our property looking around for 10min. I am wondering if neighbor is not shooting because the buck is on our land. I start trying to waive to him to go ahead and shoot this beauty. No response. Watching the whole thing through binoculars at 100 yards. Buck finally starts heading straight down property line which is divided by a creek. Then takes off at a trot. The whole time I feel bad because I never saw neighbor shoot. I then see him getting down from stand. I decided to get down and introduce myself. turns out to be a 14 year old shaking like a leaf. I ask why he didn't shoot. He says I did and I think I hit him. I then mention the buck was on our side of creek. His eyes are huge and doesn't know what to say. I tell him no worries as I was hoping he got it. He asks to go get his dad while I wait. I find the arrow and he returns with dad who was very appreciative. Find a fair blood trail and we agree to back out since we both know where it likely is and no point in rushing. I end up being invited to meet whole family. Yada yada very nice people and I am pretty sure this young man killed a near pope and young buck. They are going back at 2pm to track and I expect a photo. Very happy for the young kid even if he shot 30yds into our land. Then I head back to truck to see two deer racing like heck from across road where my buddy is sitting. Sure enough, he shot a nice 8 and I just saw the aftermath. Great shot and we recovered buck within 70yds. Jusy need the pic of the young man with his trophy and it will be a perfect morning. Sitting in stand again with no intention of picking up my bow. Gotta love it.- 7236 replies

Better be running like hell since otherwise we have a trespasser. Problem is he is running from our thick stuff into a field. Don't know how an arrow doesn't dislodge or break through that stuff. Sad for deer. And suspecting a trespasser. -

If they can smell my coffee they can smell me and I am already toast. Just my opinion. I am not a scent freak. Just try to hunt stands with favorable winds. -

Not in the least. Perhaps years of practice drinking coffee. And I saw a 2yr old b this morning. -

Congrats Biz on christening the new land. Great start. -
I shot a buck 3 years ago just below the heart. Two holes in the cavity. Bled like a stuck pig but we kept bumping it. Eventually finished it off when it could barely get up again. Keep at it

In my experience this is true. A very steep shot uphill or downhill will tend to be high. But stand shots I don't adjust at all. Then again our stands are mostly 15' or less. If I sat 35' high, maybe I would have to adjust. No idea and not interested in sitting that high. Lol

I have 40 acres and the neighbor is doing work on the creek that borders our lands for better drainage. The heavy equipment/work site is pinching deer down to our benefit. I had 7 or 8 bucks pass a cam only 100yds from the equipment last night. Knowing the land is key. Owned it for 4 years and still learning it. But we seem to be putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

Seeing deer biz? First sit on the new land I assume? -
Bordering public no hunting lands is great. Not sure I would want public hunting next door. Many here know that scenario better than I.
-
The right 10-20 acres will kill you many more deer than the wrong 150acres. IMO
-
Do you have knowledge of where deer bed, travel (including direction morning and evening) , and food sources? Once you put that together, you will know if you are sitting in the right spot for the proper winds and times. Could just be low deer density but I would confirm the foregoing. You may just be giving the deer a heads up long before you see them. As phade once told me, if you cant give 4 or 5 good reasons for a stand site and sit, you should probably not sit there.
