  1. Small 4pt wandered by and another solo deer about 80yds away. Assume small buck but couldn't tell. Otherwise slow. Probably 10-15 shots heard but most far away. First shot was well before 7.
  2. How the heck did you kill them. They seem almost un-killable. I suspect even cockroaches are envious.
  3. So if you are presumably hunting deer you expect to be upwind and your access is good, meaning entering from downwind to stand, how would a scent help? if it can be smelled by the deer then that deer should smell you too? The whole theory is a bit confusing if you hunt based on wind. Regardless, hope it works for you.
  4. Bringing my son. Only one double ladder as an option but it's in a decent spot. Killed a doe there last year on opener. As the doe approached last year, I could hear my son whispering "oh my God, oh my God". Good times
  5. My guess is that he sleeps through most of his hunts, but who knows. I feel bad for the deer (but maybe its for their good) as he was dead serious that he didn't need to sight it in. If I was a deer I would prefer to take my chances with a gun not sighted vs. certain death. In any event, I didn't feel like arguing with him so off goes Elmer Fudd.
  6. Guy at work just informed me that he found a rifled barrel for his shotgun, but it did not have a bead so he had to buy a scope. No worries though, the store bore sighted it for him. I suggested he should bring it to the range before hunting. "Who has the time, it will be fine. Deer have been killed with only a bead for years." OK Good news, he rarely sees deer and the one he saw last year, he missed completely.
  7. Cut a bit off for those monster Shepherds you own.
  8. Is high fence considered private or public? It is open to the public for a price, just like some state parks.
  9. Wonder what would make it illegal. Both are legal weapons.
  10. Chas Most banks won't finance recreational property. Too much risk. But some sellers may be willing to take back paper.
  11. Not the best angle but I think 4 plus - great buck
  12. I have only known a Sat. opener in NY, but hunted the PA Monday opening day a few years back. It was fun getting together with friends, but I really wanted to be in the woods on that Sat. and Sunday while we were waiting. I have no problem with a Sat. opener, but I don't hunt at a camp either so I could see the benefit to those that travel.
  13. I represent Magnus and it's sister companies, AIM and PCI. The CEO of floturn, the parent corp in Cincy, is a great guy. Ask your dad if he remembers the MMS 3. It was designed to make Mossberg receivers. Never worked right. I sued the manufacturer for Magnus. The manufacturers lost and went belly up. That was my intro to the company. They are good people.
  14. Magnus precision manufacturing. Good company. Not sure of their needs but worth a look.
  15. Just get back in time for your daughter to knock down the buck from last year!
  16. Check with your elite dealer. I saw an elite ad where they are selling synergies for $550 new while supplies last.
  17. Bavarian carbine in .308 and classic in .270.
  18. If you are looking for accurate, I can verify that both of my Sakos are tack drivers. Silly accurate. And beautiful rifles to boot. I should note note that one is now Grampys but still in my safe until he wants it.
  19. Ask Biz. Generally considered fine rifles but never owned one.
