  1. Haven't measured him out Biz, but I would guess you are within a few inches either way. I will let you know once we do.
  2. I would also stick with a strap if that's what you know. The thumb release will definitely change your anchor and require sight adjustments. Not really what you want to deal with on Nov. 2.
  3. You gotta love the smile on the buck's face too! You will get him. No worries.
  4. Friday can't come soon enough. 10 full days off to sit in the woods and watch bucks pass by. lol
  5. I am usually laughing as Phade scolds David and I for texting too much. Then again, I haven't missed a deer because of it THAT I KNOW OF ANYWAYS. lol
  6. I would put the effort in to hunt where I thought I would have the best odds of achieving my goal - whatever that is. You, on the other hand won't put that effort in and want to hunt your backyard public grounds, yet keep those nasty cheater xbow hunters out Whatever. I don't agree with most you post LJC, but you do wear most out with your obstinance, me included. Lol
  7. Those are both 2 year olds but you passed a 130"? Holy smokes that is restraint.
  8. So you go by number of tines vs. age. I have never seen a buck with more than 9pts from the stand in this area. And only a very few on cam. That would be tough. We hunt 8pter land around here.
  9. You have ascended to a higher level of Zen ..... or something like that
  10. TC ProHunter - Barnes TMZ 250g with 120g by volume of 209. Been very accurate, but not the best blood trails. Good news, I haven't had to trail at all. lol
  11. But the good news is that according to you, all of the hunters that hunt gun only will now be hunting archery season. They can take those same deer that would have been leftover earlier. Very circular argument. In fact, under your assumption, all gun hunters should be in favor of crossbow to beat the archers to the punch. get it?
  12. He thought he was a two year old. From the video, I would have guessed three, but whatever, its his tag and call. I can't complain, he will be around the property we hunt for the future maybe.
  13. Our buddy passed this buck Sunday am. I was quite surprised. Had like 10min of video of him:
  14. Papist, knowing you did everything possible is the best that you can do. Best wishes for tomorrow's efforts. For what its worth, if you smelled a buck, he is probably in there. That smell doesn't stick to anything but the deer (and your hands for several days after you recover him).
  15. The odd part is that to my knowledge none of the strongest advocates for inclusion on this thread hunt with a crossbow. lol They just want people that may not have the time, skill or ability to shoot a bow well, to still be in a stand. Why would we not want others to enjoy what we enjoy so much? And with that, I am running to the store now to buy the hardest hitting semi automatic crossbow I can find.
  16. But if its the same hunters that just chose an easier tool, who cares. Less wounded deer. Amen to that. Even an uptick in the number of hunters isn't a big deal. In fact, it may help to some extent recruit the next generation which we all know is sorely lacking. Some of those may choose to "regress" to compounds or even longbows and recurves as they progress in their hunting. Lets work towards more inclusion so long as it doesn't harm the nature of the season (quiet and close range). Heck, my kids may never want to put in the time I do to shoot a bow (although my daughter is getting deadly with her longbow). If they can hunt with me with a crossbow, I am all for it. Hunting should be fun.
  17. Stubby nails it on the head. Its not guns blazing away so it doesn't hurt the nature of the season and then to each his own on what implement they choose. Some seem to think its going to cause huge masses of the crossbow army to invade the woods, but I seriously doubt that. Its already in for the last two weeks which is the best part of the archery season anyways. Don't recall any major issues last year resulting from those two weeks. Why should I care if the xbow can be used Oct. 1?

    Almost..

Even a small bear I would probably give extra time - hopefully that's the case.
