I was wondering what was causing the traffic jam on 5 Mile.

Happy BDay!

Don't want to hijack Biz's thread but you are welcome on my boat JJB. Plenty of better captains, but we catch our fair share. Just let me know. That was the big laker of the day 16-17 lbs. My son went Back to the marina after we got home and caught his first large mouth on his own. Maybe he can teach me how to chase those warm water fish. Lol. Proud dad. Good 4th!

Nice Biz. Phase and I did a little of the same. 13 for 15. Few steelies and mostly lakers. Good morning. Now to relax. It's hot out there.

Oh and since I got this photo, I better pick out the mount. Its in the bag. Heck there are two in that photo. One for bow and one for gun. Just need them to stay in that spot for a while. It's just that easy. Lol

The "your not as good of a hunter as me" threads are truly sophomoric. Use a crossbow - your not an archer. Use a cam - it's not really hunting. Then I read a - not all hunters that use cams bait. Seriously. It's a hobby. Enjoy it and let others do the same ON THEIR TERMS so long as it's legal.

It would seem to me that scouting is more critical when hunting large parcels or state land (or new to you land). If you hunt the same small parcels year after year, extensive scouting might not help much and may hurt by constant intrusions on the deer. Scout while prepping stands/while hunting on the small parcels and leave a few MMS cams for inventory. Seems to work ok. Phade and I have been hunting the same small parcels together for 3 seasons now and I am just fine with this year's decision to cut back on entering the properties until its time and monitor with cams. Just realized that the OP may be comparing cams to glassing. Obviously glassing does not have the same concerns with intruding on the land, but is not practical for many parcels.

OK! Buying Ammo Online Question
moog5050 replied to DirtTime's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have purchased from Gander online but it has to be shipped to the store. -
Looks like over the counter for everything except first rifle. I would really like to go for archery, although I know that's not your thing Biz.

I want in Biz! Really want to hunt Elk.

From a compound with a rest, you are better off being stiff. Weak will not group as well and you don't have to worry about clearing the riser. I would suggest 340 or 350 spine cut to 28.5 or 29. 100 or 125g heads will be fine. I personally like Easton FMJs but axis are good and less money.

Gotta give them credit. Very forgiving creatures. They get hunted year after year and always are friendly post season, perhaps hoping things will change next year. lol

Definitely buy used and consider paying for a survey on the boat (depending on how much you are spending). Easy to ski from a fishing boat with sufficient power - not true vice versa. Figure out the type of fishing you will do and make sure the boat accommodates it. For example, the nitro shown by John would be a great boat for warm water fishing (pan, bass, pike) but would suck for cold water fishing with downriggers, etc. No room to mount equipment or fight fish standing in the rear of the boat. If you plan on regularly boating in one of the great lakes, consider a deeper hull boat. Good luck and they are a money pit, but worth it. If you buy used and get a decent deal, your risk is minimal.

You really are a dirty slightly beyond middle-aged man.

Huge disappointment Wooly. Where is the Chupacabra photo?
-
Look for the button Eddie. Pocket is just below it.
-
You must have good eyesight. Broadside I am typically just aiming for pocket behind front leg. I can honestly say, I have never actually tried to pick out a single hair. Whatever works.

air rifle that shoots a bolt/arrow

How much let off on that one Stone? I think they go 65-75-85? I never really looked at that bow closely, but I assume that since the wheels are round, the pivot point really serves as the cam? Good luck. Hope you enjoy it.

Just remove all of the pins. Then its like throwing a baseball. Isn't that what they all say? lol I guess I use this method with the recurve since I aim using a gap. But with the compound, I am with Grampy. Pin on!

If You Don't Have One Of These, Get One..........
moog5050 replied to Lawdwaz's topic in General Chit Chat
Thanks Law. Very useful post. -
Looks like you have plenty of targets wooly! Nice!

Good deal, the Oak and west seems pretty good right now. East of the oak is not so good. Glad you were in the right part of the lake. Good or bad, we stick to Ibay and the Genny areas.
-
Guessing you fished west end of lake? They salmon tend to stack there first and then move east.
