Plus it can cost well over $500 to regenerate an abstract if lost. Put it where you keep your will, insurance binders and opther valuable docs. They can be interesting.

Is this common to get an offer on property via mail?

May be legit. Just be careful in what info you provide. Good luck. If its legit, you may get more than you expected. -

Did she ask for your bank account number to deposit the downpayment? lol Not common around here, but I do get the occassional letter from a realtor. -
Feeding deer legal again

County Court decision - while it can be persuasive, its not binding on any other courts (i.e. rely on it at your own risk). DEC may choose to appeal it or simply take a shot at enforcment in a different county. -
Awesome shot and nice deer.

I prefer to give them a fighting chance and use only my trusted Bowie knife. -
I live off Five Mile also, just north of Baumans.

To the OPs questions - with a 200 yards zero, a .270 Win (powermax bonded) will be 1.5" high at 100 and 3" low at 300 (all within the kill range). A .30-06 (federal premium sierra matchking) will be 1.75 high at 100 and 3.5" low at 300. Again, all within kill range. You would be fine with either for up to 300 yards and both have plenty of power to kill anything in the COUSA (althought the .30-06 has more ftlbs of energy at the same distance) at that distance. Also, while I listed a couple of rifles I have that I like, any decent rifle should be reasonably accurate. Savages and CZ are a good bang for the buck. Due to less recoil, the .270 will be more fun to shoot at the range and is cheaper for ammo. For the above ammo, I pay about $1 per shot for .270 and $1.65 per shot for the .30-06 (buying in bulk). Good luck with whatever you choose. I don't own one, but hear the Remington's are nice. -

I have the 550 premium (I think its the same as the American but with jeweled bolt and bit more fancy checkering). 1/2"-3/4" at 100 is the norm for 3 shot groups. The Sako is truly a one-holer for me at 100, but costs twice as much. Also helps that I have a 5-30 scope on the Sako. For the price difference, I would stick with the CZ. The full stock CZ are beautiful rifles. I was looking for one when the premium came up for sale and I couldn't pass it up. -

I am surprised there are not more CZ fans on this site. They really are excellent rifles at a reasonable price. I am told savage rifles are excellent also, and priced lower. I love my Savage 220. -

I have two rifles I highly recommend for tackdrivers to 400 yards and beyond: .270 SAKO 85 (expensive, but worth it - my favorite rifle) .30-06 CZ 550 (a very accurate rifle and priced well below its competitors). Both easily achieve sub MOA. I tend to think CZs are the best buy on the market. I don't think the big box stores carry either. Not sure what's offered in lefty. -
Bear near North Rd in Wheatland? I had no idea and hunt nearby.

Welcome. And I always thought Rochjester NY was Upstate. lol

Agreed. Very nice newbreed. I had similar concerns since I weigh a few more lbs than you, but went with the Goliath. Working good so far.

Carhardt Extreme work well and are available at Dick's for $12.

I think camo in the blind will make you more visible. I would stick with black, but your call. I didn't even have my black clothes scent washed (they were motorcycle riding clothes), but it worked fine. I know the doe had a hard time seeing me in the blind all blacked out. Your call though Elmo. Good luck.

I killed my first deer this year hunting from a pop up blind Elmo. It was in position 2 days before I hunted it, but still think it can be done if set the same day, especially if you have a well used travel corridor. The doe I killed knew it was out of place and was slow to cross in front, but once it did, it actually became curious and began to walk towards the blind bobbing its head. By then I had the bow drawn/aimed and it seemed like forever before it finally turned for a broadside shot. I really enjoyed hunting from the blind. BTW - wear black up top and try to hide your face to the extent possible (used burnt cork to color the areas around my nose and eyes and a bandit type black cloth to cover my mouth. I also drew the bow below the blind window and raised it when her head was turned. Good luck.

I have the Goliath and I weigh between 330-340lbs. It seems very sturdy and the seat is comfortable.
