Im in genesee county, something near buffalo would be best for me

Does anyone know of any places to shoot the bow during the winter? not looking for any competition just some practice time.
-
Hard to see but found this shed in my brassica food plot, earliest i've ever found a shed. still trail camera pics of bucks with both sides out there. Hopefully this continues and the racks get bigger!

Does the deep snow around NY affect the chances of calling in a coyote or fox?
-
Predator hunting can help to ease the process of waiting till turkey season lol

Which calling is more sucessful for NY guys for both coyotes and fox? and also location, is it better to trying calling in the woods or traditional field approach?
-
thank you just wanted to make sure we arent talkin humans. I still beleive just killing an animal and leaving it out there is pointless. Fox and coyotes also help to control other animal populations that we humans cannot. If your gonna shoot a fox or coyote atleast do something with the fur, they sell kits to tan them yourselves at home.

Killed kids?

why would you just shoot two animals and leave them i think is the better question?

Weather has deffinatly been better/colder than last year which is accounted for many big deer being taken, and we also actually had a rut period this year. cant complain to much i managed to take 2 bucks, but i can honestly say im yet to see a real slammer while hunting either bow or gun so far.

Second Buck of the year! Wide 6pt!

Thanks guys! not bad for a 27 acre parcel of land i'd say. -
Shot this buck late this afternoon. Two years in a row this stand setup has produced a solid deer during gun season which i beleive is the hardest time of the year to kill any deer let alone a solid buck. Genesee County wide 6 point!

State land in 8G are you talking about darien state park?

For saturday i dont think it will hurt you. Without knowing your hunting situation and the hunting around you i would say anything is possiable on opening day. If anything it will calm the deer down around you. Personally through late oct and parts of november i simply spray Buck Bomb on my boots to cover my scent while entering my stand, having the wind in your favor will be the most important thing.

Depends on pressure. Im sure within the first few hours you may still see come rut activity but im sure by the afternoon and sunday all that activity will take place at night or will shut down.
-
Exactly, if you arent seeing deer and especaily big bucks its most likely due to the fact that you over pressured the area and a warm november so far. You wont see rut activity come this saturday when the guns go off, all that activity will shut down or take place at night.

Thanks everyone. I dont mean to sound like a endorser for Grim Reaper broadheads but as you can see by the shot placement i dont know what would have taken place if i had been using a fixed blade or small cutting mechanical. With this shot i needed as much cutting diameter as possiable and the Grim reapers deffinatly did the job for me. Here is also a picture of the buck just a few days before i shot him, he is working a scrape only about 70yrds from my stand at 12:45pm! it will pay to sit as long as possiable!

First time hunter for gun season. Southern zone 3A any tips?

Wear orange. lol -
Using the excuse of shooting any deer for meat is ridiculous. The prices of licenses and tages nowadays doesnt make hunting a cheap sport. So take the money you spend on all your hunting gear and licenses and go to the grocery store if you need meat that bad. Nobody has to feed thier family jsut from a seasons worth of deer hunting. On average the price for processing is$ 60.00+. Shooting a BB is personal choice, shooting a 4pt or 6pt is personal but dont complain that you've been hunting for 30yrs and never killed an 8pt or bigger. Even on small pieces of private property some management can be done, talk to your neighbor maybe you can even implement a 6pt rule. NY has the potential for bigger deer its the hunters that dont allow it to happen.
