  1. As you know many times seeing is believing Geno when it comes to predicting weather down here on Long Island. Tuesday, the storm track,100 miles east or west of LI makes all the difference. I guess Monday night we will know! well yes that goes without saying... im just bummed i dont have the quad this week lol
  2. its cold here and snow coming tuesday, my buddy took his quad up to lake george so i am out of the quad with the plow and snow blower wont start and is leacking fuel prob from the float being stuck. lol love my life....we are supposed to be hit hard from what i hear
  3. yeah, i do other things to keep me busy before deer season. small game / fishing / camping i usually have so much going on lol but i always get so fired up for deer season!
  4. wow that is cool. good job.
  5. nice pics and sweet reward band! whats the deal with it? you have to call a number and report the bird so the tagger can find out how far the bird was from the release spot?
  6. push the opener back a few weeks and make a all day hunt... but id be for and all day hunt eitherway you swing it..
  7. WOW nice from the pic i wouldnt have guessed the last buck to gross that high, looked lke he was in the 140s from the pic. Nice job tho, hes a dandy!
  8. dont worry about me, im a patient guy! lol
  9. I'm 51 and have no trouble getting a deer out long distances... the only reason you aren't physically able is if you let yourself go and aren't in shape or have a disability... My good friend Jim Massett the adirondack tracker is 73 and still hunts miles in the woods alone... I doubt there is a young guy that I know that could keep up with him... yeah there is older guys out there who will out do most of the younger guys
  10. the proof is in your pudding with the bucks you kill lol
  11. youtube it or take some classes... i learned on my own. my welds are pretty dang good
  12. nice job! thats so funny that with all the turkeys in the woods you named this one and then knew it was the same bird you have been seeing?
  13. let me just add some info to the extent of the little prep work. i would cut some small trees down and any little growth on the ground i would cut down to the ground as well and try to clear the ground up as much as i can, if there is stuff growing in that spot to begin with it tells me there is enough light to support the growth of a plot. i also would try and open the canapy up to let in some more light during the summer months. i would rake or blow off all the leaves and i would hand till the grounf with a hard rake, PH Fert and then seed. usually try and plan it a day or 2 before some rain. i mean i dont do my plots like that anymore i put alot more into them but for the guy looking for a lil hidy hole plots with minimal work those blends worked for me. And dont hesitate to try it on ground that is not easy to till and seems kind of hard. i tried it wih a hard rake, the ground was really hard but when those seeds pop the root system can find its way through hard soil better then your hard rake.... im not saying you will have the best food plot around but if you looking to get in there quietly or its a hard spot get some equipment there or eve n just making those little destination food plots closer to a bedding are perhaps, it works great...
  14. I sometimes scout in febuary/march for alittle bit and then do some scouting and monitoring starting spring. Just curious when others start their scouting regament...
