  1. yeah i really want to start shootong at around the 50 mark to make those 20-30 yaders a chip... shooting in my yard i can only shoot out to 30, with the right angle i can shoot out just a bit more but im not pushing it. i should take the 3d out to the farm and shoot out there.
  2. took the bow out 2 days ago for the first time, had to get a tune on it and adjust a few things that have been long over due. i usually shoot a few times a week but i am going to try to shoot almost everyday, maybe 15 - 20 arrows a day. grouping great at 30 right now!
  3. I am getting pretty pumped going into this season, seeing great deer and a few really nice mature bucks that i have been documenting. Going into this season i wanted to change a few things, first off i got a new scope on the 870. I got a Nikon Slug Hunter (BDC). Sweet scope! its all mounted and bore sighted, just have to get my butt to the range. Also bought a new ground blind, always good to have. I took the bow out to start slinging some sticks and i noticed my switchback XT had developed a bit of a sound upon release so i took that in for a tune and also added a sweet dead end string stop. Bow is grouping great at 30 so far and is dead quiet! feels faster as well... i really have been doing my homework on watching the deer herd and i want to make sure there will be nothing that my equipment can do to come between me and that animal. If it does i can chalk it up to human error. Also me and my dad bought about 7 more stands and strap on ladders with some other goodies as well. alls i can say is i am pumped to say the least!! anyone else?
  4. wow over 500 now? thats pretty crazy... my cousin used to be a taxidermist and he still does it for me and him. i was curious on goin prices now a days. i remember when they were like 250 - 300. doubled in about 10 years...
  5. Hey guys, im just curious to see howmuch head mounts are going for now a days? and what the average turn around time is... experiences from last year....
  6. ^^ might be the case... you never know. some people never learn their lesson and maintain doing stupid things.
  7. Deer movment is on the slower side on nights with a full moon, assuming the deer are feeding pretty well during the night. However, its not always true. Spot depending, ive seen decent deer movment on a full moon night. Full moon or not it still doesnt change my mind about getting out to hunt. I always try to think positive and during the rut theres no rhyme or reason with these bucks. i always say it takes one hot doe to change everyting. full moon or not...
  8. you should watch Drury outdoors... what i like about them is you learn alot and they hide nothing. they show the truth and reality of what can happen woodside... Tred barta and those other guys are so commercialized its crazy, well atleast thats what i believe... Drury outdoors is the only DVDs ill buy and enjoy watching. i have every dvd from season 8 and up. they show the mishaps that are reality to hunters and how to exhaust every avenue to find that animal. i have great respect for what the Drury team does and like i said in my eyes they are the best. i have been watching these guys for 5 years now and i really look forward to seeing there next production, not to mention its all HD and the filming is great! very motivational guys and true sportsman to the core.
  9. EDIT: i guess your talking about for land? not a house?
  10. illegal... damn-it Eddie you should know that lol jk
  11. your are prob right, given the chance to flourish that should make for a good end of the season plot and possibly into the snowier season should it be a big enough plot and last that long...
  12. lol i revised that info i gave out... cant beleive they make that many babies?? wow that can be an issue huh?
  13. ive planted a few from whitetail Ins. but i love using biologic...they have great blends and work wonders for me
  14. God... i can tell you when i bought my house it was a contant battle between me and the raccoons. they were getting into my soffits and tearing holes in the roof. we will just say it was a problem... i modified what i said about that problem... lol
  15. ^^ some of the stuff i see at the gym is funny... lets face it tho, staying fit 24/7 unless you have great genetics is a life style and you have to totally alter yours to become that. but for the working man who maybe active a bit can seriously cut some things out of there diet and change that regiment to suit what they believe a healthy state for themselves... its not hard at all but may require little will power and the sense of knowledge to know what they should be eating and what not, plain and simple... this year i am actually going to keep it going as far as watching what i eat so that after the holidays im not starting from square one like most and like what i usually do lol
  16. thats crazy... its stuff like this that give the guys who play it right a bad name... the season is in a month, guess some cant wait that long. in a cemetery none the less is whats silly...
  17. also think about how hard it is for 1 hunter in the tree or blind or whatever, think about how many times have youve been picked off in a stand. Now add another guy who is filming and the margin for getting picked off or scented or whatever is greater. im sure its not as easy most of the time as these "non reality" shows make it to be...
  18. for the most part tho guys, at the end of the day they have to produce.... Thus taking shots maybe un ethical in some viewers eye. Again, its not an easy task to get the camera guy and shooter on the same page as far as the animal presenting a good shot and camera man being able to get the right angle and be able for both the hunter and camera man to jive. im sure its not easy and i do believe this is why you see shots like this. that or the fact maybe these shots are considered "ethical" to that particular hunter or show. Its gotta be one of the two. Hunting ehics vary - hunter to hunter, county to county, state to state what one may do another might not... But i still think the filming aspect is quite difficult to jive between the 2, resulting is crazy shots or even rushed shots... But hey, you never know.
  19. im with you john, i like to see the planning and scouting shared with the viewers... however, MOST people want to see kills. same goes for cooking channels, it would suck to see people talking about cooking if they did not actually cook anything... same basis implies here. i think it is safe to say majority of people want to see the action. i like both but i do like to see the leg work put fourth in a hunt. and what works / doesnt work for others. most guys do not care about the politics.
  20. i shoot the rage 2 blades on my switchback xt at 72lbs. the setup i have is great! those BH are awesome... yeah i love my bow, its very forgiving and carries the features of speed and quietness. not to mention its a very compact bow. yeah try those rage BH's you will not see holes like that from anything else...
  21. lol... if its on the internet its is deff true. :::bites lip and looks away::::
