Really? You think it takes 35 minutes from notification for a major urban FD to arrive o/s to their biggest target hazard , that was pre planned ,and drills run twice a year ? The time line is a available from Paris FD If that makes you feel better . I’m no expert , but been to a few hundred fires , certified NYS arson level one ,and while I’ve gotten quite a chuckle out of some of these posts here ,the stupidity is growing old .

Nice try . There was a31 minute delay in notification to the FD .Their whole Fire system there was sub par to the extreme. We can’t arrive till ya call us . Then it took FF 4 minutes to arrive. you can read time line here . https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/19/world/europe/notre-dame-fire-safety.amp.html

I would always laugh at the guys at work , “ wait, you work, fertilizing and watering , so you can cut it more often !?!? “

I think you mean tweaking ..... Anyway , myself I don’t buy stolen goods .

Best piece I’ve read so far . https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/16/world/europe/why-notre-dame-fire-spread.html

Being Catholic and married to one who attended Catholic schools , who’s brother attended seminary school , and most of the family going to Catholic schools to today , through college ,I’d say ND is much more significant then what you posted. As far as MAGA hats, most guys I know who wear them are hoping a skinny jeans wearing Antifa type starts something , many of them are armed . I’m aways carrying ,which is why I don’t wear them. Although I’ve written Trump bigger checks then any other politician or charity.

Well my first one has been up year round for 4 or 5 years no issue and super comfy. I always thought if I had to buy new seats every 5 years it would be no big deal . The comfort is worth it to me ,and that one still looks like new, and is my most used stand . This was a disappointment, but they’re replacing it no questions asked . My buddy has a different brand with fabric seats and his have been up many years more then mine, I was skeptical, but the life of his is one reason I bought mine . stay safe
-
I had my argument already , but as soon as I started with my story, the lady said , “ yep we know about that issue ,” what’s your name and address .” I called the maker Primal, not F&S . Only thing is they’re not getting more in till July/ August . No,biggie to me stand is at base of new tree ready to go up . My original one has been up year round for 4 maybe 5 years good as new . I still have another “ newer “ one to check .

I was a couple more brownies away from busting through that seat ! Ill tell ya, I was shocked when I dropped the stand and found that, especially only using it 3 maybe 4 times . My first one is several years old and in a triple tree, it’s so,big and stable ,I’ll be honest, sometimes in gun season for a quick hunt I wouldn’t wear my harness . Have to rethink that .

So I was moving one of these and found the seat fabric was torn badly . Less then a year old, I sat in this one 3x . 17 foot Outpost xl ladder stand made by Primal , sold at dicks and fs, yes I know we don’t shop there anymore , I’ve had one for years and this one was a gift last summer . Called the number, they know of issue and are sending me a new seat . 1-866- 972-6168 Please check yours.

Parked the truck ,these hens walked up , later carrying a 17 foot ladder stand walked to within 35 , 40 yards of this Tom and hens in a wide open field . That’s why I don’t hunt them , no challenge.

Mid day run to the brewery ! The growler is Mosaic Cream Ale, about my favorite Pilot beer from, them ,sadly it may not be canned this year . The Ruby Red, drove the city wild last year, folks drove all over the county trying to find it, as it ran low . This year they made more, but all indications are it’ll sell out again. Today was the release at the brewery and people were lined up , hits the stores in a week or so. Internet talk , people are saying they’ll buy all they can find .... Not one of my Favs , but what the heck I see it I’ll buy some too .

I know next to nothing about aircraft for firefighting , but each of those ladder pipes is dumping 350 gallons per minute and you have several running for hours on end , but the end millions of pounds of water were added to that weakened building anyway . The largest aircrafts ( I looked it up ) seem to drop 12,000 gallons or so ,about one ladderpipe running for 30-40 minutes worth of water, but at one drop . Dont know how feasible it would be to fly a large plane low over that city, but their existing plan seemed to have several flaws, if I may mmqb .

Actually , I found it odd that they had so few “ master streams “ in operation , we had more up when the Dollar store on North Clinton burned down . Going only off the news videos I saw of ND fire . Their issue was the access to and the height and shear size of the buildings , the aerial ladders they had up, the streams didn’t reach anywhere near where they needed to go and were largely ineffective. I don’t know what the highest aerial ladders one can buy are , we use 110’ there may not be tall enough ones available for purchase idk ,either way theirs didn’t do much . there was a 20 minute delay in calling the FD as well , an alarm ,” alert “ as they call it came in at 18:20, it was a local alarm, in other words it’s not sent to FD only goes off “ locally “, staff investigated it found nothing, 20 minutes later a second alarm this time they called FD. Thats a piss poor system for such a building . Thats perhaps their largest target hazard, I’d be interested in seeing their preplan , I know parts of it were put in place as far as removing artifacts. A fire like that is going to have water supply issues as well, no matter how many pieces of equipment , if they’re all working off the same main, you may have that issue . That’s part of your preplan , size of mains, on all sides as well as next streets over, relay pumping and on and on . Oh I do hate their metallic helmets , they wore them when they came for the 911 memorial,in NYC ,Oct, ‘02 as well , the only more annoying guys were the blonde , tan, surfer ,FF from Cali . I however was loved by everyone there .... Anytime you re fighting a fire from outside like that ,you’ve written the building off ,it’s considered by us “ a large dumpster “ fire .

I didn’t mean to sound callous above , but I’ve put down pets and I’ve “put down “ parents , and while the conversation with the vet and the one with my Dads Dr. were eerily similar ,the mental anguish and stress weren’t comparable. Ending my Dads care was the second most stressful thing I’ve done, the first being putting my Mother in nursing home . Told her she was going to a Drs appointment , when she realized it was a nursing home ,she starting crying, yelling and punching me . My sisters had the luxury of leaving the room, but I stayed crying with her , being her punching bag , really that was the day she started to die , and I brought her there . I love our dog and when the time comes it’ll be unpleasant for sure but I’ve been though far worse . While I like our Vet just fine , Gus doesn’t , each time he’s stressed out there, he’ll crap in their parking lot and shake the whole time inside. Not sure I’d want that to be the last act we share together, a small windowless room,a cold metal, table , two, people restraining him while a third gives him a shot . Idk, perhaps sharing one last campfire in the woods he loves ,and never waking up in the morning would be more fitting . Hopefully that’s still, years out , now if the Vet would come and administer the shot there that would be ideal.

$600 is nothing , neighbors paid 5 grand to have a sock the dog ate removed . No way I’d spend that cash and frankly Ive put pets down myself before . A dog isnt worth one one thousands of my kids . My beagle is 13 and has been peeing in the house the last month or so, we go to,the vet next week . We’ll see what he says ,but we may end up taking one last walk into the woods with a .22 and a shovel .

Made me smile ! Gin is my go to hard liquor, just always been . I’ll have to try licking a pine tree ,sounds cheaper.

I bought a 7mm08 for Kathy , which I used to kill some deer and coyotes, then I won mine at Culver’s Qdma banquet, which killed two deer last year . Every critter dropped in its tracks ,straight down . I just buy whatever ,i shoot 139/140 she uses 120s. mixed brands . I don’t bother testing rounds , can I hit the vitals ? Ok good to go . Last years , no idea the brand , perhaps Hornady . Dead right there . forced me to go downstairs and look . I use the Hornady on top ,she uses the two below ,after getting scoped the reduced recoil ones .
-
My biggest were before I set out to find them, just walking in the woods. I’m moving my big ladderstands tomorrow, since I’m not shed hunting I’ve got my fingers crossed .
