  1. I just hosed the mud off the Outback , in the rain . Neighbors have sure seen odder behavior though . Oh and I got grief for getting some egg splatter on the stove , and left a door cracked open when I went out . There is a certin peaceness in the woods , clear or rain ......
  2. It's always easier to sit home when your buck tag is punched though John , I'm still second guessing it . But the Mrs is frying bacon right now . 4 sunny side up runny eggs , bacon and white toast , and the blues playing .
  3. Agree Larry although I'm only in my 28th of bow hunting . That plus I'll be out Monday PM , all day Tue, and Wed morning .
  4. Opps triple post this , time thing messed up the whole internet it seems
  5. Really ? if I leave my alarm clock set for the same time as it was on Sat. , which got me on stand just before light , if I don't change it , Sunday I'll also be on stand just before light .
  6. Why ? The deer don't and its not " getting light " an hour earlier " because folks adjust their clocks .
  7. http://www.appledystopia.com/how-to/calibrate-iphone-battery/
  8. Nice buck , John ! I finally saw a couple bucks, again . And I fixed my iPhone battery !! Had to calibrate the battery , something Apple recommends once a month and after every update . Something I never heard of .
  9. Well perhaps my luck is changing . Climbing up and saw a deer coming , spike. Finished climbing and got on stand as he stood 59 yards away
  10. I believe ATbuckhunter may share a likeness to you .
  11. Came home to dry out wet boots and feet . Youngsters take note , today is our 29th wedding anniversary, I told the Mrs I came back because I forgot to,leave the card and gift on the kitchen counter for her . ( which is true ) Pretty sure she didn't buy that's why I came home ,but is going along with it .
  12. I’m outta here ! I could handle the wet frozen foot, if deer were moving . Perhaps they know I bought a crossbow , and are staying hunkered down ?
  13. If I go two sits without seeing deer I wonder what’s going on . This is my fourth ! I may even start bringing doe tags !
  14. Washed mud off Muck boots last night, went to put them on at my spot and the right one is soaked inside ..... Get near my stand and hear a deer crashing through woods, followed by a screaming coyote who ran all around my stand for sometime . Just an awesome start !

    Beer

Knuckleheads ( Webster) Kathy’s Cream Ale, dinner at Brazil’s . 29th wedding anniversary, tomorrow but I’ll be hunting .
  16. Mine has a little metal piece about three inches long that presses down on the arrow / bolt/ missle of death between the vanes . This is my first year with it and I was surprised how heavy it is, how big it is , like putting a bow across your rifle barrel . Easy to shoot somewhat yes, right now 40 and under for me . Can't see how I can shoot behind me as easy as with the compound , with the string and limbs sticking out like that . Personally I'd rather use my compound , if my shoulders worked, light easy to carry , easy to maneuver on stand, through corn rows and brush, . I used to say many of the things I read here, then tolerated them , accepted them and after my body went to pot bought one , not the cure all but at least I know I can fling an arrow now .
  17. You can’t stop me ! Just bought it two weeks ago after shoulders got so bad I couldn’t pull bow back with certainty . All day Sat and as much as needed to kill a decent buck through Wed.
  18. I have a few sets of LW sticks , next year I'm moving more into ladder stands . Right now I believe I have a set of 3or 4 not being used , the rest are on trees . Im at work now, I'll look tomorrow , I live in Webster where are you ?
  19. That sounds like my posts of late, I no longer sit there waiting for a nice buck, but think it would be nice to see a doe ! Sat I'll be in a stand with the cross bow on an AG field .
  20. 15 ish . Many guys can't estimate their height correct from what I've seen as well . I've seen a few "20's" that were under 15 . One hunter friend said he goes 20 , as high as that window sill , we were on our patio, I said that's about 12 ,It seems to go hand in hand with antler size .
  21. LT in the FD . Before that I loaded safes into tractor trailers . It took me 7 years to get on , two tests 4 years apart then a 3 year wait after second one . Got on at 30, had to sell a house and move into city to get hired . You’re 23, if you want LEO / FD there is time . Have a plan B too, my new guy just came from a machine shop, 27 owns a home and so on . Good luck . Oldest daughter is a RN, decent money , all the OT she wants because they are AJWAYS short of nurses . Hours ( over nights ) can suck though , but you’ll work with mostly all girls !
  22. Cabin Fever , you and me both , all day hunt minus a lunch break , saw one buck on my walk in .My buddy called me while, walking out, " deer all over tonight , one came by every ten minutes ." ...... Tons of tracks walking along and across the path I leaf blowed yesterday . Resting next two, days , washing hunting clothes, cleaning car, gym , a 14 hour OT shift and taking the wife out for our anniversary , so she can show me off. Then hitting it hard for Xbow . With seeing so few bucks let alone good ones , makes me worry about what I may do when a young one comes by .....
  23. Woods stand becoming swamp stand.... Not sure I can cross ditch to leave now , Got one soaker getting in. .
  24. I think that Fireball was a. Chinese knockoff , all it did was make it rain !
