  1. I don't think a solo or even a pair would stand a chance against my 110 pound red nose. I'm just worried about a whole pack. I think they try and lure him out into the woods at night. They press pretty close to the house but he stays in the yard and lets them hear it.
  2. 270 is a great caliber. And for a 15 year old it will have a little less recoil. Very enjoyable to shoot. Plenty of knock down power.
  3. Looks good. Like tree guy said. I helped track one earlier this week and it had a lot less blood than that. My buddy hit it high and drove down into it. All the blood pooled up inside. We were finding tiny dropplets and found her within 40 yards.
  4. Sounds like a solid hit. Getting that much blood coming off the side of the body with that high of a shot. The angle and penetration should get you some vitals. That deer is dead somewhere, go get him!
  5. Lol looks pretty cozy! Does it have a roof on it?
  6. John, did you build a deck in the middle of the woods?! Sheesh!
  7. Great video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ML3qYHWRIZk
  8. I have a stand right next to a big swamp. The first morning it sounded like a stream was right beyond the trees. Once it was light enough, I saw about a million black birds fly up out of the massive patch of brush. The noise went with them. Pretty crazy.
  9. Keep those eyes peeled! They could sneak right p on you this mornin! Good luck everyone!
  10. ^ Agreed. Your first mistake is getting into the woods at 10 am. They move early. All you are doing is pushing deer that late in the morning. And you are exiting the woods right before "Prime Time" hours. Deer move better an hour or two before sundown. Don't be afraid of the dark. Invest in a good head lamp.
  11. And he did put his camo on back at the house for some more pics. I didn't get any of those though.
  12. Lol he hit him pretty far back. We had to let him lay for seven hours. Went in and found him not even 100 yards from where he hit him. The rage did some work. But yea he just got back from the doc's lol.
  13. Yeah def lower than what we were thinking. Still a beauty of a buck! I will let you know what the old man scores him at.
  14. Yes, it matters. It's the difference between a good and bad blood trail. That and if you just miss the lung with a smaller head, that extra inch can be a difference maker.
  15. He has an older gentleman that he has hunted with for a long time and was sort of his mentor in the woods. He was there to help track because he enjoys it. Also enjoys measuring the horns so he is letting him do it. Thanks for the advice though!
  16. My uncles buck he shot yesterday. More pictures posted on the harvest thread. What do you guys think he will score? We were thinking around 130? He has only a 15 1/2 inch spread but he is thick and has close to 9 inch G-2's. He does plan on having it scored so we will see. Any thoughts befor hand??
  17. A monster 8 my uncle shot yesterday morning. He weighs in at 193 pounds dressed.
  18. Yep, look in the daylight. Look for where she kicked up some dirt or leaves. Hopefully you find some blood or a clean arrow.
  19. Had to stay in with my little man tonight because momma had to work late, but two down by my buddies! Going to go track them as soon as she gets home!
