  1. No these were some boot soldiers down in San Angelo. I’m just poking. Def some top flight dudes in all branches without a doubt. And the Marine Corps has its fair share of Shit bags. And I’ve been to the range with plenty of Marines that couldn’t shoot lol. But don’t you dare get me started on those sailors!! (Grin)
  2. Hey man, don’t mess with a 5 time rifle expert! Used to drill head shots at 500 yards with that ‘ol M-16 and an acog. I was really just kicking the tires to see if there were some salty Army vets on here lol. But trust me, I spent time with some Army soldiers and the hype is very real. Leaving their weapons laid on the floor of the chow hall? I think not! Not knowing what condition your rifle is in with magazine out, bolt forward and ejection port cover closed... Better get on your face, Devil.
  3. Well they still need the marksmen to make it work... And we Marines know the Army can’t shoot worth a shit.
  4. I had a bought a Remington 700 270 wsm and was stoked to have it. But it wouldn’t chamber a round smoothly. It would tear up the end of the brass while trying to close the bolt. Loved the way it shot. Absolute cannon. But sold that junk.
  5. Dude shot a buck with a baby strapped to his back... show me something more badass... I’ll wait.
  6. Really hoping this late rut activity happens in my neck of the woods today... I’ve had a glimpse of only one shooter buck so far this gun season. Good luck guys and gals. Let’s put some bone on the ground today!
  7. I would try and make moves on them. Hunting the same stands seeing the same results should indicate the bucks are moving elsewhere. Right now you’re hunting with the hopes of a good buck trailing one of those does past your stand. Invest in a climber. Move around to different areas that have good sign, climb, hunt, scout, all at the same time. I hunt from a climber 90% of the time and my buck sightings have increased ten fold. Be unpredictable. You will get on them. I have climbed in random spots and found bucks. Over hunt it and they won’t show up. Scout and move and you will be on them again. I always try and hunt where no one has sat in a while. Stands get burned out and the deer re route. Good luck! Lots of good advice in here.
  8. Least you put your hunting clothes on for the picture lol. Good buck! Congrats.
  9. May be a brisket shot also. They bleed like a mother when hit there. Sounds like he’s hurting. Hopefully he beds for the night and you can at least catch him in it in the morning. Good luck WNY.
  10. You can be stealthy in crunchy snow. Just get on your belly and slide like a seal. Works every time.
  11. Not saying I have the balls to do it ..but anyone ever think of wearing pure white with a picture of the front of a deer printed on it? I think this could be epic. Just walk among deer
  12. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep.. I’ve been pumped all week looking at this snow. Hoping to catch the big boy that was with my ten when I shot him. He was wide and real tall. Dark horns. Named him Mr. T. A.k.a Triple T. A.k.a Mr. Tall Tine Timmy! Praying they are on the does still. Good luck everyone!
  13. I have the 4.0. They keep you way warm when moving. But sitting in a stand I will still get cold after a few hours if it’s below freezing.
  14. I think a lot of buck fever comes from the fear of the deer hearing or seeing you. You start to shake and take shorter breaths. I get it whenever I have deer come in close let alone a buck. I have to tell myself to breath and relax. When it comes down to It I take long deep breaths and it actually gives me a warm calming inside and I hone in on the shot. I will become perfectly steady then start jack hammering afterward. The cold doesn’t help the matter!
  15. Don’t be afraid to put in some mid season scouting, Gents. By this time deer start to figure us out and re route to their destination. Look for the well used muddy runs in places where you haven’t thought to hunt and set up on them. Good luck to those trying to seal the deal this week. Plenty more bucks out there to be had.
  16. Judging by the charts provided... that buck is at least 1.5 years old. Congrats adkhunter. A true NY slammer.
  17. Shot a good doe this afternoon... from the ground!!! Found me a good pine tree to stand under. Saw her running through the golden rod and heard grunting over the hill behind her. She stepped up to the fence about to come into the woods and gave me the shot at 25 yards. She spun around and made it 35 yards back across the field before crashing. The buck tracked her down and appeared to be dry humping over her body. Rutting bucks move in wind and snow guys! It could be a hurricane and they will move when the rut is on. Get out there and get them!
  18. Snowing and windy here in 7m. Deer were moving. My damn cat followed me out to my stand. Sat below it meowing. Saw deer so was trying to ignore him. Hear a crunch crunch crunch coming in behind me. Look and it’s a little coyote coming for my cat! My cat chased him a few feet then came back to my tree. He starts coming back in so I fling an arrow at him. Narrow miss. He runs ten feet and stops. Then starts sneaking back in on him. He’s in thick crap but I had to fling another one just to keep him at bay. Wasted two arrows but saved my cat!
  19. Am I the only one that sees the hulks eyes and nose where that bucks head should be?? Nice buck though no doubt. Don’t need a clear pic to see that rack.
  20. Seen 5 different bucks already. Biggest was a decent 8. Responded to rattling early. Now chasing does.
  21. Looks like a graze. If he hit the brisket solid it would be bleeding like a mother. And anything higher/lethal I would think you would get more than that. Go looking for him for sure, but looks like he grazed him.
