I use it but personally would never near water ways. Crop rotations of plants with weed seed suppressing abilitees. If you actually Googled that. A wealth of info. should show up. ...buckwheat,WR are 2 and plant timing in these rotations depth of planting ,mowing ,timing on mowing..Nothing ever stimulates all weeds.

Doewhacker, When reading " some of you are clueless idiots ", and ,here's a stereotype, "Citiots" wrung true to you. Then the feeling of a personal attack is on you,not me. I never once made reference to any one person. I will not be made accounable for your personal feelings and how you interject your self into my words.
-
Well isn't it just too bad the my facts, reality, personal option feels like an attack to you. I stand by every word . If you have a need to encounter only "politically correct " soft spoken people, I invite you not to read what comes up under the name growalot. Regardless of what you may have been taught in school, the entire world does not owe you the feeling of being comfortable all the time. The truth to this entire situation is this...None of these incidences are the fault of the dog..owners should have jail time , the excuses which are so long they are impossible to list in their entirety. The best is..." I can't help the kids let them out", it slipped it's collar,my dog would never do that!...ect..etc... When that switch in a dog's brain is flipped and it attacks on it's own......there is NO going back..it has become a loaded weapon. If cops and DEC responding to problems were actually trained...fewer warnings and more confiscation would occur. Then law abiding citizens wouldn't have to make the hard decisions to protect them selves and their property.

Another horrendously windy day! -
There is only one way you can shoot a dog...attacks.. I have been attacked more than once...I shot a dog...DEC told me had I not had a gun..It being in a killing frenzy would have gone for my throat. Of this I have absolutely no doubt. Another time I had one chase me through my woods and up the road ,me have to back up this steep hill backwards fending it off with a big limb until Mr B heard my screams of help and shot in the air. That ended with an ambulance trip to the ER,do to over stressing my thighs causing a complete tear of the muscle the next day at work. Two weeks out of work to heal. I was trapped in a stand by 2 dogs, had 2 pit bulls chase me to our house and circled it while I called the cops, goat herd killed by dogs and then charged at the same barn 4 days later. I trained Bear for protection. He took on a PACK of dogs That had snuck up behind me,one never went home, another chow that charged me wouldn't have gone home but I gave the release command. Some of you are clueless idiots that I would bet never lived in the country...Want a stereotype? Here's one Citiots move out to the country and you think it's a license to allow your domestic pets to roam where ever they want. Better yet you don't live here and drop off YOUR PROBLEMS on our door steps. What ....you think we all take strays in or they want to be taken in? Get a clue...dogs are like cats..They go feral, and it doesn't take long if coyotes don't take them out first.. I can't stand ignorance..you do not know how to,you don't have the time to,you haven't the temperament to train your "pet"....then DO NOT GET ONE! If you haven't got it in you to be an Alfa buy a freaking Bird!

They have come out with a few new ones. Now one of the reasons I had problems this year is because, I planted a locally bought Generic Ladino. 3 plots all but failed, all strategic plots. I have had FANTASTIC results in both growth and drawing power of a combination of the following. I will be buying them this year to plant ..also I add star fire red......The chicory plus I planted ,didn't grow in fast enough nor thick enough this year...maybe next, we'll see...but wasn't impressed this year: Welter seed and honey company pricing...,but they add extra charges for small orders http://welterseed.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Retail-Price-List-2016-1.pdf JUMBO II LADINO CLOVER (w/Apex™ Green) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $4.50 A fast growing, giant leafed variety known for its leaf size and vigorous growth habit. Jumbo II is popular in pasture mixes and is extremely popular in deer mixes. ALICE WHITE CLOVER . . $5.75 A variety known for its high palatability and vigorous tall growth. Alice is very winter hardy and is aggressive enough to compete well with grasses in pasture mixes. KOPU II WHITE CLOVER . . . . . $4.75 An excellent white clover bred to withstand intensive grazing conditions. Comparison test results show Kopu II to have improved stolon production and longer stand life than other white clover varieties.

2016 HuntingNY Gun Harvest thread
growalot replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I went to the end of the upper lane-way next to a small WR plot and not too far from the corner stand I had the two young bucks sniff my ladder rungs... Before light I did some rattling and doe bleats...Because of the snow I could make out close objects and hadn't spooked anything on the way in. I was hoping the sound ,with the wind would carry up to the sanctuary and out to the green farmer fields at 7am, opening here was at 7:23 I did another series...A bit later I see movement between me and the green field 180 yrds away I looked like a small doe and she was limping very badly...I checked my watch and it was 7:25...I couldn't see the wound but the front limping had her bobbing up and down quite profoundly. She was on my trail to the gully stand which was taking her farther away...I pulled up not having time to range and guessed with the snow on the ground her to be 100-110 yrds out....I aimed a bit high when she stopped giving me just her front shoulder...Well I'll be using the range finder more, for she was 78 yards when she dropped hard and swung around at the shot limping up the way she came. I lost her in a group of trees and waited and waited for her to come out the other side...just as I was lowering my gun thinking she went straight away behind those trees to the pines..she popped out. She hit the trail straight to me and I readied my aim against the tree...The trail was straight away and when she was to get to the intersecting trail 20 yrds out it would be a continuance to me or a sharp turn to my right or left...One giving me a shot the other not....She stopped 36 yrds out and had the slightest turn to the rt...I had my bead in the crease along her neck to the shoulder ..Knowing at this angle I had a good chance on the nerve bundle and or heart...She dropped like a rock right on the trail. I was a bit surprised when I got to her..I was expecting some huge wound ,from that limp she had..It turns out it was an ankle cut..I think from a broad head and it was slightly swollen and a bit infected...but not bad.....I'm still glad I dropped her..Not what I would have taken I really wanted one of those big doe...but she won't have coyotes get her and the meat will be great....- 47 replies

Actually years ago I did a small search...Then a recent post had me reading again and what popped out in one of the readings was very little genetic studies have been done on this particular herd. Also that the ratio of " normal " deer to the ones with the recessive color gene is 3/1 being approximately 600 to 200. I also checked out what has been done on some of the naturally occurring herds in the wild. Like in Wisconsin where their predators include wolves and yet that herd is still surviving...Always good to learn and gather information. You never know what information you'll turn up in the process.. Like this about human recessive genes in the first link, then in the second. A link that shows some of these as now myths...yet I found the traits in the first link on many university sites...just interesting things to read rarely are things in our realm of "knowledge" cut and dry. Useful to gather as much information from as many sources then look at a picture as a whole. Just look how long it took to unseat Pluto https://sites.google.com/site/rnpodarst10th2011grp13/dominant-and-recessive-traits/common-dominant-and-recessive http://udel.edu/~mcdonald/mythredhair.html

Congrats to your Dad Doewhacker...70 and "still" hunting through the woods kudos to him! -
I Have searched and searched to no avail on actual health studies for the Senica white herd. Pictures of unhealthy or deformed deer statistics on fawning ....I will be putting in some calls next week. That said, do any of you know where I could find this information before I start calling around? Has Cornell done any thing that you know of? Thanks in advance for any help.

Need two.... they aren't particular a huge tree, but can be wide and tall in canopy ....space is about what shading they will cause...remember that in all your tree planting. The position of the Sun as it crosses your property during all the growing season. What the mature height of your trees will be. Try to avoid shading out other plants as they mature. Plant short to taller inrelation to the Sun angle.

Outdoors columnist fired over recovery rights article..
growalot replied to wooly's topic in General Chit Chat
DEVILS advocate....did he ever show where he checked or even tried to confirm the other side of this.? He went on an emotional attack with his nasty fictitious names for the other party. The article wasn't just a piece on recovery rights but a one-sided attack. I am sure the paper received a call..perhaps with the whole story and or from a lawyer.
