We have already established it's legal to hunt two species at the same time...as long as the shot gun is plugged...Though that said you need to have a choke for goose shot?

What part of there are copper slugs did you not read? I specified that...and I believe this is almost exactly the conversation I was referring to..Tell me,because I do not goose hunt...what violation would someone carrying copper slugs during goose hunting if gun deer season were open as well?...I'm curious.

Not to prolong this and Not busting on you WNYBH... besides I have to start dinner...This: Commons sense could put a double edge on this ...The fact that they specifically mentioned no guns allowed and not no crossbows allowed would place common sense on they OK considering it actually is legal to hunt 2 different species at the same time...as the DEC said to me most bear are shot during deer hunting and most bow shot coyote are shot by deer hunters but yet here it is a gun is allowed in turkey season during deer bow season...Now with this gun allowed, never do they say and you are not allowed to be in possession of a slug while turkey hunting they say you can't take a turkey with a bullet: Oh.. did I recall something about goose and deer...They now have copper slugs

Well that's moot at the moment...not hunting today and I know the turkey have vacated the area for at least a few days ...hopefully they will have an answer one way or the other before I make a decision on next turkey hunt... They said a few days... PS... I'm not looking forward to sitting in ...at least a pop up blind any time soon...I happened to look up that day to see not one but over 50 black jumping spiders on the ceiling of the blind....I won't talk about a particular nightmare I dealt with up until my teens....but lets say I was a bit unhappy

JJB I actually had nothing on me for either...I call turkey with my natural voice and can actually grunt and snort wheez the same...I do not use scents this early in season so there was nothing other than weapons.

It adds up... is not written law..They CLEARLY state one and Do Not address the other from the actual regulation book. It's not addressed in the manner of taking section of big game, though guns are.It is not addressed on the seasons maps it just says your not allowed to take a deer... I Went by what I read... I do not "add things up" when it comes to regulations nor should anyone else they should be clearly written.

I believe and I think this relevant that we are forgetting another incident...The feeding law...where it was officers discretion as to legality. Let me point this out and consider it carefully When officers are told that when looking at a convoluted law just use your discretion. They are basically being told that as an individual they are allowed to set law on a case to case basis. One would think after losing in NYS court a lesson was learned . BUT NO that law was left on the books with an acknowledgement that it was legal in just one county. I will admit I haven't kept up, so I do not know if it has been re-worded or changed but it was left for at least a few years. They did this for cost reasons and decided they would take a chance on any other challenges from other counties. Ask your self , with small town justices probably know less than the DEC officers if this is how you want the game laws to be enforced?

Chris you left out in that little response to Rack Attack That I was hunting deer and turkey while carrying a compound for deer and a crossbow for turkey..that was my intent . I had no other intent then to make the most of my time afield and shoot what ever legal species with it's appropriate legal weapon.... Neither happened but We will find out whether my interpretation was correct or not when we get WRITTEN verification one way or the other for as the DEC clearly stated not all regulations are in the hunters regulations guide...go figure...

You really read into things, that was a statement not an indication I thought I was doing something wrong ..I'm not fighting anything I am simply enforcing the need for facts...facts for all hunters to know exactly what is and isn't allowed...When a question arises the next logical step, even though one has literally combed through all available information, is to go to the source. Ya you can thank me for that...two days of leaf blowing this weekend...LOL I didn't go out this a.m. Wow it was pretty rough out there last night and I just know the woods would, even though winds had died and it was drizzling , not be safe in the dark ...Will go out this afternoon and see if the deer are out and about ..No turkey hunting for me TF but good luck. Years of these winds I know the turkey went down hill. I figure 3 days to return that's about average...guarantee I will be hearing shots from down the hill though..unless they got their tags punched already...What a great day though..Good Luck all.
