Well I got the trails behind house and the one down to swamp stand done. Should be good to go for some quiet hunts this week..The leaves will drop hard this week and a clean up walk will complete the season before the rut really kicks in. I Thought of all the benefits beside noise,clearing away tick habitat,and opening up the ground to see hidden tracks, but deer love walking them. Perhaps they like quiet as well

I said s how me the written regulation for I have read that regulation book umpteen times and no where does it state that.. You also said I didn't like your answer..Well I never asked a question. You gave no real answer for you have shown nothing to back what you say up..I have clearly said I've read the regulations. Logically this indicates anyone can go and look up the regulations and see if I'm correct in there being No such written rule for fall turkey cross bows and bow season compounds or traditional gear being in the field at the same time..I have a valid turkey license , I have a valid archery license. They are legal weapons..Now to your analogy..anyone with a shot gun in fall turkey could slide in a slug and shoot a deer...Omg can you imagine?!

I do not know you to dislike you...I stated you need to ask your officer friend to cough up the written regulation stating carrying ..remember carrying both weapons at the same time during two legal seasons is illegal..Again 3 different regional officers and 3 different answers to questions concerning DEC law...Not illegal until they have written regulations...As far as intent really... in a turkey blind Unless they are seeing deer blood on a bolt difficult to hide mind you, I'd let intent go to court... no problem

ChrisW I won't get into this with you Other than to say I have talked to officers in 3 different regions on specific laws and got 3 different answers...Now I went back for the 5 or 6th time and read all the regulations printed for hunters...words are important..it is illegal to take a deer...no where does it say to possess ...It states clearly in a couple of place it is illegal, to take an animal. Now they are specific on the carrying of certain calibers and rim fires during certain season and areas...there are several area specific restrictions...So all this said, your officer friend needs to mail you specific written regulations that says, specifically it is illegal to carry both weapons during legal hunting seasons...for I am in two legal hunting season right now and no where...let me say this again no where does it state you can not hunt two different animals at the same time during their respective seasons .. This written regulation had best be widely and easily available for viewing...then I won't carry both..

Good luck.on the buck....hhmmm nothing and I really need to finish trails before the good weather comes in. I had wondered the ethics on releasing my cross bow field point on a squirrel then packing up...Well that was easy poof they ALL disappeared at the mere thought...lol I'll have to hit the cube when I get home.

Yes it is compound for deer cross bow for turkey. ..I couldn't find where it was illegal to have both as long as I'm not shooting a deer with the cross bow . If it is my bad because I've been bring both for a few falls....cross bow is legal for fall turkey.

I'M with the others on this...great he had the desire the guts to do that and the fact he did it and survived...but I'm afraid I'd have to wait until he is in school and tie a rope to the tree and bring it down. Chainsaw would be too obvious. Have a ladderstand waiting for him when he got home, or a new substantial tree picked out and teach him how to build a proper safe stand together. Good teaching tool.

we use to just write it on a piece of paper...never attached to the deer...they all had their tags and would be piled into the back of the truck for me to take home while the guys hunted more...I hated it, no one ate the deer and I was stuck processing all of them...I finally put my foot down you shoot it you take it period.

I just got in a little while ago from leaf blowing 17 spots cleared to get to in silence..and only 1/3 done I am so sore and tired...but this is why I do it..yep need to go into stealth mode ...

Nice good luck with them..I'm really hoping to see them coming in in force ...great day to blow of trails and check cams...The worst,ash leaves are all down and a good many maple as well I'll do main travel areas first.

Im thinking the turkey were near by from all the sounds...but with the girls screaming they decide ...they would find a different clover plot and went down hill.
