Eagle Rider...Kelly is the person they gave me when I called Albany DEC and told them I needed to speak with someone well versed in DEC regulations and laws..The person I questioned on this before ever asking the question. The person that took nearly a week to research and find another person to confirm their answer before e mailing me a reply. Now read that in its entirety.especially the first paragraph. Words it is in the wording.. Their last paragraph summarizes the first. Note I asked for written law stating it was illegal, such as with the regulations SPECIFCALLY mentioning guns.. There was none as stated in the first paragraph....This person does not know me ,isn't a friend of a friend. Just a person at Albany DEC.

Lol..good luck with that... Well raining and a line of rain snow from Buffalo to here is looking like an all day event...The r e goes the swamp stand....need to reevaluate.

Well let's see, I won't be eating crow, so we settled on chicken tacos.....
-
Well at least you got squirrels. By all accounts they should have shown up by now..zip, zilch, nada....I have to say, cold gear on and wrapped in my fleece blanket...still freezing. ..time to get Mr buddy heater out....after I figure out where the Dang deer are!

I'm actually an easy person to deal with when treated with civility..Most ppl respond well to me one to one.
-
I'll be carrying the DEC e-mail... I mean how many times have I heard you guys say THAT!...lol going hunting have a good one....
-
Now read that carefully because I can now say it doesn't make sense...Also STILL NO WRITTEN LAW... BTW it is also legal to be in the woods with a cross bow these upcoming two weeks and on ...WITH OUT a ML tag...why because you do not need one to shoot anything other than deer
-
So I decided to keep up with this off line with a few members here...I'll let you all know whats happened ...last week I got a PDF file saying So here are the baiting laws...LOL I figured stall tacktic and waited until today to respond..I opened my e-mail and there was another response...here it is copied and pasted in entirety. note the highlighted potion...

Nahhh that RARELY happens in the wild(old spikes,4's and 6's)...LOL....I really only comes down to body size(characteristics) and location as far as that goes, to a point....Wait, wait for it...tooth aging...but remember to shoot that deer dead first...or they bite!

Field & Stream's "discounts" are getting very old, and probably illegal
growalot replied to Core's topic in General Chit Chat
Your grocery stores do the same thing...I got ticked and called read the riot act on Tops head quarters in Buffalo....They sent coupons ...Lol.. Send your post to the BBB and ask if it's legal also the attorney General ask legality...Not that it would ever make a difference...You'd be better off getting a Facebook,Twitter, thing going and ppl talking about it on a wide scale to change anything. -
Rain,16mph steady with gusts 30 mph...which are pretty darn steady as well, light rain...wind is picking up..know where the deer are hunkered down...They can stay there to...Lol. Generator was serviced by Mr B this weekend...turn the key and ready to go if need be. Calling for rain and snow here tomorrow.

Wow I was on the Kindle and re read it all before posting..Apparently the kindle had other ideas...Holy cow! Well most of it came up correctly ...So you get the gist of it...I'm thinking lots more beans early next season then a whole lot more WW...I have to see if any of the over seeded clovers do well in the spring..Definitely I am going to need to drop a whole lot more PK...I will but don't really need to test..with the weather and soil types, then seeing the farmers with tons and tons of it piled on their fields to be spread a lot of leaching has occurred. They are hitting fields with that and lime. these 2 are usually not that "mobile" in soils they tend to bind. We have sandy loams in certain areas and when you add a lot of rain that changes what is in the upper root zone levels for many plants... This will show up in such things as grains and turnips, potatoes ..even corns...Tests should be interesting this spring.

That Cabelas folding knife...I mentioned to Mr . B ,it had been a x mas gift..."You payed that much for my hunting knife!" See he knows I'm bad about losing stuff in the field..."Well it didn't cost me that ..bought 3 on sale 39.00, feel better?" ...yes yes I do Glad he did though it holds a good edge.

Patio paving blocks?...I actually use those to level my big tower blinds..They sink...I pull out the jack...jack them up and add another block the right depth...eezzee peezee and you can use L brackets and screw them into the concrete blocks ..making stealing just a tad more difficult.

Had to batten down all blinds with the up coming winds...had a beautiful red fox pop out of the oats to scent mark his area and then disappear again. about 70 yrds away...Cams showed doe, fawn and 2 small buck under stand I hunted opening day, At 11:07 this morning. Then in front of the stand I saw nothing in 2 nights ago, but were there when I was in last night due to wind and rain...lol So far they are winning this chess matchOh apple cam had a doe under it at 4:30 yesterday...Fog has now rolled in so temps are dropping fast..

Bit of a summery...turnips were nearly a complete fail for what I wanted...This said they did great in the shot plot and are still doing great. All the rest were either ruled out before root growth or were stunted. The very early pure oats did what I wAnted and produced seed..but never dried down the turkey found them OK but preferred the clovers...deer are eating the seed heads now that green is too tough..but the needs are many. I love the shot plot they hit grab a early ..then that provided cover the Braddock grew great and now the clovers are all over in itchy some of my worst weed growth down significantly. Now the WW/clover/Brassica plot Non stop mowing..it has had nearly no chance to grow, never got higher than 3 ". WR they haven't hit too much and is too tall ,laying over. This I know will get hit when snow falls...It will have most growth. The alfalfa...Well the oats grew too well, 4ft tall. They may have killed some of that back due to the beds they made in it.

Also to cut wind around your feet...tractor supply has cut by the foot thinner rubber matting 4ft wide. Measure the platform and buy enough to cut and fit. To make safe Drill holes side by side in places to fit long black tie wraps through and tie wrap sections down. No more freezing feet on cold steel. Also cuts up draft keeping you warmer .Ps if there is ice or snow tie just one side so you can lift bend and let it pop off. These things are easy to remove so taking down the tower at end of season is so easy . Snip tie wraps and untie fleece..Our son takes his down at camp each year..won't leave it for theifs. They tried stealing my ladder stand...I chain everything and nail support bars.
-
Want to stay warm and movement hidden? Get on line find JoAnn Fabrics and their sale coupons...fleece is on sale all the time... measure around th rail and buy enough yards to cover. Here is the great thing about fleece...it doesn't unravel. So you simple make cuts into the edges long enough to tie through platform and around rail on the other side.. cuts wind, quiet, will dry fast, won't flap in the wind. They have a bunch of different patterns available and colors...cheap when coupons are used..got mine 2.99 a yard....Son has that stand and loves it. BLIZZARD FLEECE it's the heaviest
-
Just think about how quiet your next Hunt will be...
-
Glad he made it OK..this is why my hang on stands are chained and strapped....never seen a chain fail.

Mixed green salad and chicken goulash....butter pecan ice cream for dessert.
