make this short...got cold gear out and was in stand very early...when it started getting light the birds let me know I'd set up in the middle of a roost behind and side of me ...with another flock 200ft in front of me( clucks and gobbles)....they all crashed through the trees to start their day and yep walked away from me....doing my best owl act ...I was able to count 15 of them ...then a doe and fawn stroled by at 15yrds...very small...think a lot of fawns were bred late and took last year....Great morning...but lots to do so here I am
-
I made sure my cold weather coat had hand warming pockets in it......but I like the glove...flip up mittens ...when early hunting I can use them bow hunting
-
Ya ...Mr B. got a beautiful Woolrich red and blk hunting coat for 8.00 But we've bought grey wool pants from Sportsmans Guide...need to watch sizing if any of it is euro. sizes run sm...but ours were US ...he loves them and Cabelas has them ...I think in grey...exspensive

Carbon Express fixed broad head and 49#'s...use to shoot 51...but I injured my shoulder...the day I ordered the bow...go figure....I suppose 2#'s really doesn't make that much difference but I'm superstitious...don't want to press my luck Thanks and good luck to all of you

-
congrats...a memory he'll charish
-
Do you shoot the doe if the fawns are with her?
growalot replied to mossy725's topic in Deer Hunting
Took one tonight and the fawn was a BB and her milk was all dried up already -
I dropped her at 6pm...she went 15 yards and dropped....3 firsts...first kill out of that stand...up 4yrs...first one with new Mission Venture bow by Mathews...and first kill off a plot....34yrds...she was much farther than I thought....I misplaced my range finder...the house will be turned upside down now...but Wow she never heard it coming...love the new bow

Well I'm in for a break...lunch and pain killers for this morning had me all tied up...make this short....from light until 11a.m. 42 deer sightings...38 all differant deer...many very near range...9 deer passed on 7 were buck and one miss...thank you neighbor for the 4wheeler guided tour you were screaming at the passenger..hey them the breaks...It was the best hunt with out a kill I've ever had...two fawn bedded under me...got one pic...have to set up the other later
-
Great hunt and buck congrats to him!

I went out at 3:30 to the blind I built last year....It raind on and off and no sign of deer until 5 :35 when a good sized single doe came in where I expected ...but angled farther away than they did last year....she was feeding on the elder brush...which they have devastated,,,good thing is her path took her past another long standing 16ft stand...I'm looking forward to sitting in ole reliable tomorrow....hope to have just enough breeze to mask my getting to the stand....good luck everyone

Eddie we woman do have a pair...they just reside a tad farther North than our male counter parts
-
Steve...to be honest I don't think us lady's particularly think much about any sensitive part of are anatomy getting "frosted" ...well in the sense that Eddie was referring too but the more I'm on this site the more ....unusual.... things I now see some guys think about
-
They taste better! ....Congrats!
-
Neither was I...for I listened to too many things falling in the woods yesterday...having a "chicken little" moment.....lol...seriously look up and listen guys ...I missed being crushed by a tree by mere inches last year...it actually brushed down my left arm as I was pressing my self against the trunk of another tree....heard the crack and never bothered looking just got to nearest tree....had I looked...it would have been too late....But just posted to say 25yrds off my porch are 7 deer ...for big doe and 3 fawn...looks like they've tired of being in the woods in this wind as well....too bad the wind is blowing straight from us to them....I'd be able to tag out in my PJ's .... I actually did that during gun season...but the shot was 100yrds and I had to run out behind the dog kennel to take the shot...lol
-
Ahhh no worries Steve....I'm too particular to have anyone help with chores or projects......that's why every thing takes me so long....As far as the dinner bell...Hey it's hunting season!....dinner's...until time change take place...... at 8pm and I've learned to be a short order cook...well unless I get the crock pot filled in the a.m.

See that is a good example...if it came off as sarcastic as it read here ...IMO...when a pretty innocence inquiry is met with.... not an answer per say...... but sarcasm...then guys wonder why ppl don't care for us camo clad hunters...just saying...
