see there ya go I couldn't pass this up... One it wasn't making it personal...just putting a time reference to it and ...really sorry here .. Really? Did he have PROOF!.....
-
I find how you guys use quotes amusing.....seriously ..... I will not assume that you'll ever get the point......so...I'll just go with WHAT EVER....lol
-
First you missed the point I was making... second ...the first bear sighting I had in our area....you weren't even born...and the DEC was saying there were no blk bears here...and ppl my age and older could attest to that... Third....If I can't get you to see the point I was making so be it...
-
Actually they do have a substantial population of panthers in Florida...blk or not...and if he lied...well I nor my husband can surmise the reason... The Blk bear part of post was to point out that just because ppl don't have proof ...doesn't mean that an animal isn't in the area.....When I saw my 2nd Blk bear here ....many years ago ...I had a woman knock on my door ...She said are you the bear lady? ??? ...yes I saw a blk bear walk past my pic. window....she got tears in her eyes and said thank you....they have been calling me crazy for months...because I saw one too and had no proof!..are you kidding? I've seen blk bear 4 different times in our area...and the first sighting 5yrs before we even lived here....but back then the DEC was saying nope there are none....Just like Letchworth state park....back in 1979...DEC said none were in the park...but my Samoyed broke away from us and chased one...when we finally got to him his coat was smeared in crap that smelled like pig manure...bear crap I'll also say that I worked in the pet industry for a # of years...and there are or where auctions held in different southern states where a person could bid on and buy all kinds of "exotic" animals...I'm talking from kudamundaes(sp) to giraffes....was transporting these across state line legal...I don't think so...but ppl were doing it all the same....Back then there was also a thriving breeding program going on with African Serval cats ...and I'm sure there still is...kinda like pot belly pigs...great idea until you own one : ...I'd put money on there being those out there..either escaped or dumped.....and just one more thought....feral cats...we all know they are out there....how many do you have on cam....me...not a one... but I see them all the time So does the DEC lie...one way or the other....I have to say yes....reasons...who the hell knows....should a person sarcastically dismiss another persons experience? ...Well life's taught me no...so there ya go...
-
Say what ever you want...but we had a DEC officer hear 10 + years ago when yotes killed our goats...and he told us point blank at out kitchen table that the DEC released bkl panthers from the south here...Now if he was lying why...we told him we saw the yotes in ? I live in Blk bear country.....they actually tag them in dens not far from here...I had one walk past my pic window 16 yrs ago...do I have Proof...nope...any on my cams nope......bags of scat in my freezer nope....but they are here and in #'s big enough to tag them in dens every year and had to shoot a injured one 2 yrs ago one rd over...are we seeing a point here?

It was the very last sentence....but this is an estimate....again I don't normally follow any recipes...so cooking is taste & sight for me... I usually let it buuble for a while

Ohhh boy never thought I'd have to agree ..to a point..with MrVJP...but On this point I must..case in point... Several years ago I had a neighbor who disliked me...they felt a certain threat to their local power I guess....any how they had their child accuse me of verbally threatening them....they had ties to the local justice..long and short ....I ended up arrested for child abuse...had a restraining order put against me and the justice tried to take all our guns...including my husbands away...well she stood there as this was happening ...and happened to like my husband ...who was living out of state on a job at the time...and convinced the judge.... taking the guns wasn't necessary....We had to hire a lawyer...whom by the way never billed us...this thing was so bogus....went to court...the DA tried to drop all charges but I had to insist we go to mediation...because she planned to have the child state I actually physically touched them in the next round...which meant a finger printing and jail cell....a friend of theirs came to me ..when they saw how far this was going to tell me their plan...they were trying to get me fired from a school job mediation made them...actually both of us sign a document stating they couldn't have me arrested again and several other key things..that were brought up...that actually protected me...from physical harm We actually get along now...and they've stated that forced mediation was the best thing that happened :-\ I can't get into detail of mediation....by law...but I can say that it was found the child in question never had a fear of me and actually engaged me in play in the waiting room of the mediator..and stated they had no problems with me The point...yep someones vendetta can seriously screw up a persons life and cost them $$$$...Imagine having to go to your boss...school super and explain that deal...but everyone involved saw how bogus it was...even the sheriff that knocked on my door...he actually came to court and the justice demanded he leave...it was going to the county...the lawyer talked me out of filing judicial misconduct charges because the guy was retiring > ...I wasn't fired -
They walked our place some years ago and were of great help...as far as giving us in site on the trees marked for logging ...and which...though they have be cafeful on this point...loggers did better than others.....One thing is I had a little reservation to their ideas on beech cutting....Yes we manage for timber ...but I'm a hunter foremost and beech is our deer... bird....squirrel mainstay the forrester that walked us...wasn't keen on our beech....Yes they have many problems biggest being a rapid killing canker...but besides feeding the wild life....if you go in and do a lot of cutting... one better be prepared to do a lot of work and spending $$ controlling the mess that causes...For once cut....every inch of root left will try to produce more trees...and what a mess that is ???

Well ...Well....Here's one for you.....I agree with Jimbo and Wildcats....I luv my guns my hunting and as a woman that is in her 50's ...and lived more that an interesting life thus far.... am still a registered Democrat...Why Because neither party ...speaking of the 2 major ones....are worth a tinkers damn ...One wants a welfare state with little legal personal rights unless your in one minority or another....The other wants to forget the poor and middle class...give you your personal rights ...as long as they coincide with their Christian guide lines Wow that's a choice : .....on a local level...in every town I've lived in...ppl speaking out both sides of their mouth and sneaky ......well I can't get a descent word to come to mind So I'll continue to vote for the lesser "evil" of Democrats on the local and state levels and hope the Republicans stop shooting them selves in the foot on the national level..... This whole party line thinking has driven me nuts for 30+yrs...I married into a staunch politically involved Republican family with an x marine father in-law....believe me I've heard it all ....I have no problems stating I didn't vote ...for the first time ever...in the last presidential election...well I take that back I voted...just not on the presidential level.... in good consciences I abstained... for their wasn't one candidate presented... that I didn't fear would send this country down a slippery slope...and could not consider myself a part of that ...how sad....and I see it happening again...It's got me searching the papers for a non lethal ...Alaskan hunting accident...it scares me so -

Perhaps this is just a little too simplistic for some.......but my opinion is ...and this goes for all and that includes this government as well... "Any organization is only as good as the magnifying glass that it's members hold up to it" Now if you want to question motive...I have question your motive in not wanting members to question the organization they belong to..... -

I'm sorry...did you miss something I wrote?...and please I'm not the one to throw the ole public vs non for profit sector salary woes to...... They chose to go that route....it doesn't mean that they should be compensated huge amounts of money... Now that I'm back in this...the Catholic comment....don't apologize....but it's like that in all organized religion...and if you were to pic out just one ...yes lets look at this....churches closing all over the place and the ppl giving their hard earned $$$ being asked to give more as they are being uprooted...should really take a close hard look at the Vatican...then scroll down to the millions going out to protect the ...I'll be kind here..."BAD SEEDs"please !! > You have a right to your opinion ...but so doesn't everyone else...I'm not about to label you this or that ...resort to calling names or impugning you for your thoughts.. Now if that is how you need to handle a difference of opinion...I'll just say....."WHAT EVER''' -
great pics guys....here a few from our place.... the last was a fall hen...we have a lrg # of turkey here now...so if fall hunting doesn't turn up a tom ... ...funny how the wind blew her tail up when I took the pic...lol

I'm sorry but it is a business..and let me tell you they send us something in the mail EVERY day asking for more money in this form or that... Now as for non profit and regulations ...What a joke...no different that the GVC... whos head guys are lawyers I believe.... Oh and I was just thinking on this...fund raisers...ie ..American cancer...diabetes...heart.....Do you honestly think true cures would ever ..ever become reality?....if they let them out ...how could they ever continue raising the money and keeping these jobs...that also includes the lower paid researchers....bring down big money...Yes managing the problems...more drugs to sell but if a cure were out there...we'll Never see it...Just not smart business...Sorry no CEO is worth these amounts in my opinion According to the 2008 IRS Form 990 for the NRA1, Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre raked in $1,263,101 per year; NRA Institute for Legislative Action EVP Chris Cox made $661,059; Treasurer Wilson Phillips made $649,463; General Operations Executive Director Kayne Robinson benefited to the tune of $602,608; and last, Secretary Edward Land, Jr. trails the pack with a measly $509,186. -
I went to see how the camera did in what ended up being -13 the other day...well at some point it stopped showing the temp...but still took pics....I have the cam turned toward the Sucraseed plot ...I have 1 1/2 bags left of this...and you can be assured it will be going in this spring ...In the one pic...we either have babies on board or they are dang fat for this time of year and these temps and snow.....
-
Ps They were not RR....I have been diligant about weed control...and that area was in good shape...until I had ..first time ever....and influx of deadly night shade....I'm not sure if I got contaminated turnip seed the year before or the increased turkey visits brought in the night shade seed...I know we have it in the general area...and that turkey can eat and deposit the seed with out harm...It is weed killer resistant....so one lrg section of the field ...I had to mow before it set berries and plant turnips...I'm hoping I got all if not most of it....until I'm sure that will remain an annual plot...beans in spring through summer and this year winter wheat What I did like about those soybeans ...beside how a small plot area 1/2-3/4 acre...held up to browse...but in the stuff I left standing ...all I had to do in fall was walk a little fertilizer and turnips and rape seed over it for a fall/winter plot...pic shows walk over growth...
-
OOhh I know I have it written down some where... need to find it ...but here are some pics....The second pic shows where they had chewed it down the third time...it then grew back and set bean pods....each plant averaged 12-20 pods per plant

Well the thing about pines....they take a lot of time to grow...I lined the road in wht pine...and you can still shoot into our place and quick drag a deer out....which is the problem we have with these guys...how I've been nearly shot several times....no one but us and them will see the chain link and you can't drag a deer through chain link fencing but you can pines ..Also....with gun I can shoulder shoot and they drop....but this is a good area and in bow...they run straight for the swamp next door off our place....the owner...I don't have a problem with him...it's his nephew and the ppl he brings with him...anyways has never said no to tracking...but that's just a hassle...rather have them go on to us...or run across the road to other neighbor...we own on the other side of him and the water that they head to...our land is a big... J ...the long part of J being a half mile long...here is the section I'm fencing off (PIC)...the high chain link will be towards the back and then regular fencing will be towards the front to the road with a solar top and return middle wire...then planting in a good plot...time...time time Ya I'm rotating the turnip plots this year as well...really liked how the soybeans I grew from Seedway did....they got 19 in. high even with heavy browsing and just kept regrowing .....and still set a heavy crop of beans...too bad I had the night shade problem ....hopefully I got that under control...I'm putting in a couple of perennial clover plots and a couple of new annual areas...the deer found and are digging hard in the Sucra seed mix...I have a bag and a half left over so that will be another perennial area....ahhh plans plans plans...now if the weather ...equipment and time co-operate PS...as far as cheaper...all the fencing I get....is stuff that is given to me over the years...are you kidding?...I'm so cheap....lol

or as simple as when the seasons were first opening up...it was to make sure not too many toms were taken...and undisturbed breed took place in the later part of day?....turkey # weren't as high then
-
Baby steps ..Bubba....Don't want to shock the DEC ya know :D
-
Well for me it's either or...either start our season earlier...or open all day...but I think one of these options are needed
-
Best course I ever took at BOCES was 2 yrs of night school welding...also get a good book on it as well....We have a small arc welder for home use comes in handy
-
This is why when a problem bear is reported ...they look into yours and your nieghbors routines as it were...how you care for garbage....if there are bird feeders around....how you feed your domestic pets ect...Then let you know what is causing the problem and warn you to fix it....Bears aren't relocated any more and there is a 3x strike...it's shot...and if the warnings to clean up what they suggested wasn't heeded ...Someone is going to be going to court any paying a lot $$$$
-
SIT....the problem is the ppl that aren't use to seeing them and want pics and such...also the ones that want to hunt....they just opened the season in our area....kinda like ...want to be the first in the area to bag one : We know I guy who's girl friend feeds the deer in their yard year around....he claimed a bear tried to get into his chicken coop...I was doubtful so went to take pics...My Coop is over 400ft down in our woods less than a 1/2 mile from him and never hit....his is next to his house and garage in a group of houses...Well yep there were the muddy prints all over the wall and window...but while we stood talking a group of deer appeared 70ft away and casually strolled through his yard........ppl never learn..why we have to have laws for dang near everything : Dang I can't spell even with spell check....lol
