  1. This is the only Eucker I'm familiar with. I think he played for the Milwaukee Braves & did some Lite Beer commercials...
  2. Again, all speculation, but unless you have a solar powered generator, when there is no more gasoline left, you are in trouble. But who knows what the decline of civilization would really be like?
  3. I saw a show a few years ago on the Discovery channel, I wish I could remember the name of it now. Obviously, it was just a show, but there were a number of scientists & sociologists that were giving their opinions in-between scenes. Anyway, the premise was, a virus shows up and kills 95% of the population. Society as we know it breaks down, and all utilities and services (including the government) shut down for good.. Those left had to figure out a way to fend for themselves, join roving gangs, or find their way to protected towns, if they had a trade or skill they were more valuable. Eventually all food and gasoline ran out, and people had to start all over from scratch, growing their own food and relying on horses & mules for plowing and transportataion. Since the internet is gone, people had to rely on books again, and the latest technology information stopped around 2000 (when the internet became mainstream). It really opened my eyes to the world of sh*t most of us would be in if our current society and government were to just go away.
  4. See that, I've taught you a valuable lesson in human nature. Aren't you glad that you signed onto the website today?
  5. The whole online employment thing works out great for the employer, but only if they stay on top of maintaining all the information, which doesn't seem to be case a lot of the time with my wife & my kids' jobs. I work on a computer, we all know how to use one. But it just seems like one more lazy management tool, for managers who are lazy to begin with. One less set of expenses for the employer, and one more set for the employee who is underpaid already (smart phone, the bill that comes with it). And the whole "paper kills trees" line is a crock, they grow trees for paper on plantations and huge company owned forests, they're not clearing virgin forests to make paper. A computer or monitor or cell phone or batteries that winds up in a landfill aren't especially environmentally friendly. Nobody needs a drone, they are expensive play toys for people who probably have too many toys already. I know I don't want someone flying one around over my yard taking pictures or driving the dogs nuts.
  6. What is too much: 1). Jobs that want you to do the whole hiring process online. Then get your schedule from a website and W2 from the website at year end. 2). Guys who want to hunt with their dogs, synchronising all dogs & units and coordinates and maps to the GPS units & collars 3). Trail cameras that send you immediate pictures to your phone or e-mail account 4). Personal drones
  7. Not a whole lot, really. Deer and other game will leave the area for a while, then come back to their food & cover. Deer hunting is over in NY unless you are on Long Island, so the long-term impact is minimal, actually they may be doing the OP a favor if they kill a few coyotes. But I understand why a person wants their privacy, or just plain doesn't want trespassing also.
  8. Sitting for squirrels- +30 or below I guess. They USUALLY don't move much when it gets cold out. Walking with a dog (or no dog)- I guess 5 or lower. You are burning calories and staying warm that way. But if the snow is deep or the dogs seem uncomfortable, I'd stay in & stay warm.
  9. Honestly, I'd suspect these were the same kinds of folks that would turn to booze, pills, or something else if their weed connection ran dry.
  10. Who said it was healthy? (Other than derivatives from the plant used for legitimate medicine)?
  11. Again, I'm not pro or con for weed, or even social drinking. But lets not kid ourselves, even if you are sticking to light beer, you aren't drinking STRICTLY because you like the taste, it's because you like the taste AND the slight buzz that comes with it. I know I do. If not, O'Douls and Michelob NA would outsell alcoholic beer. But my observation and experience (mostly through the eyes of others) is that once you cross over the line from social drinking to alcohol abuse, it goes down hill quickly, even quicker with women who drink heavily. It can be argued that if you don't want to get ripped smoking weed, just stick to one or two puffs or a small cookie or however they are using it these days. Weed makes MOST people quiet, sleepy and lazy. The effects of alcohol on people seems to be much less predictable...a stoner doesn't usually come home and smack the old lady and kids across the living room if the Eagles lose the big game on Sunday, but it's a safe bet that when it does happen, the father/husband is drunk. As far as other drugs...there needs to be some common sense thinking. Meth, ecstasy, & coke cause severe brain damage if used regularly. Herion and alcohol are physically addictive, and withdrawal can actually cause death if not monitored closely. Why in the world would anybody want to get involved in any of this??? Like I said before, if I can find hard evidence that weed is truly addictive or causes more harm to the body & mind then alcohol, I'd change my opinion. But I will say, with the legality of weed in some states and pending legality of marijuana in others, I would like to see some common-sense DWI testing available for anyone who is operating a vehicle, train, bus, etc. after smoking weed.
  12. I don't believe I said weed was good for you, it just seems a little hypocritical to keep it illegal at the same time we allow alcohol to be legal; I don't think anyone will agree that years of hard alcohol abuse does LESS damage than daily pot smoking. I've worked with hard-core drinkers, the hand shakes and sweats, sneaking drinks and thinking nobody knows, calling out sick, DUIS...none of this is good. I'm pretty sure that the guy who was too stoned to flush the toilet would have probably puked in the sink and soiled his pants before he made it to the toilet if he was a hard-core alchie.
  13. I also know numerous kids I grew up with that were weed-only users, and have never progressed further. I knew a lot of kids growing up who didn't use heroin, but thought nothing of using stimulants (coke and meth) to keep them alert while drinking. Also knew a kid growing up who died of cirrhosis at age 50, one crashed a motorcycle drunk at 17 and is a vegetable, another was a little older and did the same in a car, a few are nutcases, one is living in a camper in his sister's yard (how he's survived this long I still can't figure out). I had a sister-in-law who died before 50, fell down a staircase drunk (she may have been pushed, LOL). My point is all recreational drugs aren't good, but weed seems to be the least of all the evils. If there is hard evidence anyone can provide that shows weed is a true gateway drug, I may change my opinion. And FWIW, I don't use any of this stuff, other than a few social drinks from time to time.
  14. I'm not left leaning, but I disagree with you on marijuana. We sell alcohol (a drug) to anyone who wants it, and marijuana does far less damage to the user and society than marijuana does.
  15. I am sure I was doing restaurant work before you were born. We had white folks and black folks that washed dishes, so I don't buy that they do the work that Americans won't. They are destroying the construction trades here in the Northeast part of the country, and mostly the work they do is sub-par. Pay people what they are worth, and they will work. Give a non-violent American felon a chance at rehabilitation by providing a job as a dishwasher or prep guy since they can't find any work, an illegal is a criminal anyway. Most may be here to work and not interested in causing trouble, but most of the money goes back to Mexico or Honduras. And by the very nature of why they are here and how they got here, they continue to break more laws every day that they stay here.
  16. Yes, $5B IS worth a slow down. Trump ran on the promise of building the wall (albeit with Mexico's money, which isn't working out), but he is one of the few politicians I remember who is trying to stick with what he said during the campaign. The flow of drugs won't completely stop, but any real attempt at slowing this down is a good thing, in my mind. As well as catching and deporting criminals who take our jobs, mooch off of our government freebies, bring gang mentality, and break numerous laws to get here (including identity theft). These are NOT the best & brightest sneaking in. Lastly, a shutdown may inconvenience some, but it may some stop and think about how dependent upon the government we have become, and how did we let things get to this point?
  17. This is why I don't day-drink.....
  18. It DOES look very good. I'd have to imagine you'd only be able to eat a fairly small size portion, like menttioned, it sounds pretty rich.
  19. If I were king of the world, I would gladly grant Brady & Belichick 1 more Super Bowl win on February 3, provided they would retire at the top and in style....and never come back again.
  20. Do more squirrel hunting. I always wanted to kill a fox squirrel, I think I know where to go and when to go do it. Bow hunt a little more this year. I don't have my camp to rely on anymore, so I'll have to hunt locally. Find some better spots to fall turkey hunt, especuially in Virginia & Pennsylvania. I have my work cut out for me I think.
  21. For the last 2 months, every time I sign in I get this pop-up ad for Ashley Madison. I took a closer look at the babe this morning, she's pretty jiggly looking.
  22. The babe on the right makes a killer sandwich.
  23. Looks like Jed Clampett's in the first Youtube video.
  24. This site is like my job...if you pay me enough, I'll walk away and never look back....
