    Still quiet here 9a, my friend hunting other side of property bumped a spike on way in but other than that quet so far.

    I ended up getting bad cramp in leg, couldn't get rid of it so I decided call it day bit early at around 5:45. Made it down ladder o.k., and started walk off the cramp and I heard something off to right and look over and nice big boy stood there for few seconds and then bolted away quickly. My timing always is terrible, would been nice shot from in stand. I will be back at it tomorrow.

    Compound bow that has a trigger,,,,what kind of bow would you call it now? Is it still considered a bow? Or would the expert here call it a compound gun?

    Up in stand 9a breezy and 48. Spooked doe by pond at edge of woods on way in, hope something big will be following her. My friends in back set up by creek edge.

    When I put my draw-loc on my compound bow, does that make it a crossbow since it has a trigger? Or is it a combo gun-bow? Is the compound no longer a bow? Please let me know....I don't want to infringe on any ones public land ownership during regular bow season and crowd the woods with my draw-loc compound half gunbow......I do have my modified archery permit btw

    Hey Mike thanks for offer to help, there was myself and friend Don who shot the deer plus my brother-in-law searched every inch of the property and didn't come up with anything at all. We all felt we gave it best we could trying find it and it was really a soaker out there for awhile but thanks for offer to help I just got home and saw your post. Time to get dried out and warmed up.

    Just got home while ago, was helping my buddy Don try to find 8 point he shot earlier at my sister's property in 9a. He text me around 5 pm to tell me a spike and a button were headed toward my area, keep my eyes open. About 15 minutes later I got another text saying he just shot 8 point and it was running my way also. I looked and listened but nothing towards me. After waiting what seemed forever, he text and said he was going go down and check spot he shot it. That's where he found half broken arrow with pin drop size blood at the break point on arrow. He said he shot lil high on shoulder but said it was solid hit. We did a search but didn't see any blood or hair and said when it ran off the tail was tucked down. Going go back out in morning with daylight and do thorough search see if we can find it. He said it would have been biggest deer yet with a bow.

    New Crossbow

    I had to ship my Barnett Jackal back to them and replace the trigger mechanism. A few weeks ago I brought it out to do some target practice and after cocking it the darn thing wouldn't come off safety. So I took it into the bow shop and it took the shop owner and his son to safely get uncocked. They had bad dealing with Barnett crossbows and don't even sell them any more. They said they are so many problems with them and Barnett has several lawsuits pending against them. They had no good things to say about Barnett. I'm waiting for my crossbow to be fixed and returned by Nov 5, and will probably take the archery shop owners advice and look for a different bow next year.

    Just up in stand, its windy and 49f in 9a. Hope some luck comes my way. Congrats to the guys that got one today.

    It used to sound like my old Marine Reserve weekends playing war games, but those days are long gone. Last year I heard maybe 10 shots total up until 9 a.m. and then very quiet. And there was hunter breakfasts everywhere...Earl's Diner on Rt. 16 in Chaffee was packed with hungry hunters on their way to their hunting spots. Never see those times again I'm afraid, the hunters just aren't there any more.
