  2. This is where I'm lacking........school me fellas.
  3. I’ll have one on display at the archery academy Thursday (if we hold a session) and will demonstrate the ease of use. And no Bizzy, I won’t be jumping out of a stand.

My mom died a year before yours Dom, 7/3/1986.........way way way too young. Sounds like yours was a quite a lady and you learned a ton from her.
  5. I’ve never experienced the wounded and left overnight loss to a ‘yote but know of a few incidences when it’s happened. I guess it’s just the mere fact you don’t find chewed on rib cages, legs, heads etc too often that has me wondering.
  6. What's the SECOND thing you did after you moved in?
  7. I get so many coyotes on the cameras you'd think there wouldn't be a deer for miles. Funny thing though, I've never seen a single deer carcass from what you'd think was a coyote kill. Yea, during hunting season I might find a gnawed on rib cage and some bones scattered about but it seems as though those are usually close to a road and could have been dumped there by a home butcher?? I certainly don't spend all kinds of time traipsing the woods but between spring gobbler, fall hunting and winter wandering I sure don't bump into many grizzly scenes or bone yards. Do coyotes bury their victims?
  8. It's quite a bummer all right, fortunately you still have some access there and can get to some good spots. Other opportunities are just behind a door or two..........
  9. Buy my Ithaca in the classifieds here. Real history........
  10. While doing some scouting Saturday, I spotted a couple big oaks that came down in the past couple months. They are nice and straight could be good for lumber, a bit small but who knows. A friend in the area just got a sawmill so maybe he'll want to saw them into boards. If not I'm JUST the right guy to cut them up...........I'll buck and split them and the same guy will come for them. If I do cut them for firewood I should wait till after deer season but I'll be chomping at the bit to get after them! Plenty of dead & dying ash on the radar too for this winter...................
  11. Take that grin the right way Jeremy.......,BTDT
  12. ROCK EN ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great news man, ya done good.
  13. I saw five live bucks yesterday morning, only one was hard horned. Wrap those trees!!!!!!!!!
  14. I pulled cards from the cameras and have plenty of doe, fawns and Jr bucks, none of the bigger bucks have been by the cams. No worries, they’ll show up at some point. Hopefully I don’t get an itchy trigger finger first.
  15. After all the horribly hot weather we have had this summer we had a GREAT weekend temperature and cloud wise to get r' done in the woods. Cool temps and overcast clouds got the guys, gals and kids out hanging stands, brushing stands, trail work and plot work. I know all this because Friday night I went with my father to Canadice to visit with an ailing friend and spend the night. Saturday I hit it hard early in the morning; one rickety stand I put up on a whim last year really panned out but it wasn't the safest. That one got pulled and a new one hung in its place....... I checked a few other stands and all are good, apples are shaky at best but acorns look good. I hung another stand in a new area and am excited about the prospects of it. Maybe it's too close to a bedding area but that's the way I roll, always on the edge. I helped my buddy with a bunch of chores and that was time well spent and efficient. Picked some apples and they're being made into a couple pies right now by the Mrs. On the way home yesterday I saw numerous cars and truck parked along the road and I know they were hitting it hard too. Dad and I stopped in McDonald's in Lakeville for a couple hot chocolates (he likes them, I got one just 'cause) and there was a guy and his family getting into a Power Wagon, towing a trailer and four wheeler. A treestand was in the trailer and it looked like a couple bags of seed. Doing what a family should be doing on a FINE late summer day!!
  16. Upon further review, I'm going to revise my guesstimate and say I haven't a clue.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if there's folks that are given those permits to fill and they "fake" it. Meaning THEY don't think there are too many deer and don't really want to kill any so they just punch a tag and tell the landowner/DEC they kill't one. I bet there are even guys that do that with doe permits too........
  18. Why is there two posts with the same topic?
  19. Look for a dry doe........................ Good luck !!!!!
  20. A big ass box from Omaha Steaks might go over better................
