  1. Do you have a range to practice out to 650 yards? Do really expect to hunt anything bigger than a deer with this gun? (maybe an elk? If deer and MAYBE elk are reality, then something like the 6.5 Creedmoor would be a great choice. Reloading is a snap with this and factory ammo is outstanding per range reports I've seen. It'll easily handle most any hunting here in the lower 48 and range time would be ENJOYABLE. And that is critical................Don't build a long range magnum gun and think you'll shoot it for fun because you won't 'cause it ain't. PS: The Creedmoor will easily take a black bear too.
  2. No they aren’t. There'd be dramatic growth difference in almost a month.

    BEARysburg!

It's neat to see them around although I know to many people in the country they sure can be a nuisance.......
  4. Yea, one man's trash is another man's treasure!! (I'm not calling any of this stuff "junk". It's just stuff I don't need and has to go!!)
  5. Mercury 9.8hp 110 Outboard. This is a 1966 manufactured motor and has been sitting in my basement since 1991. It is in exceptional condition and certainly looks like it was used very little when it was used. Mostly dust and cob webs on it now! I have the Mercury fuel can with hoses too, condition on them is unknown as I haven't looked closely at them. It belonged to my father in law and I never saw him haul it out of the basement. Fuel tank and stand included. $250 LOCAL
  6. Machinist tool box, made in Leroy, NY. Excellent shape, hasn't been used in close to 50 years..........$50 local pick up only.
  7. While hunting out west years ago, all grocery stores/Walmart etc. carried dry ice.
  8. Sis is a lovely lady and they make perfect couple........ Good people, Dan & Sis.
  9. Thanks moog and others..... I know I posted the story about that buck last fall but he was heading north and then turned to the east. I was further north and just a touch west so I grunted (with that Vector call) and he stopped. He looked my way then kept going.....I grunted again and he turned my way! He came in and actually fed on something right in front of me for a moment. His head and body were behind some brush and there was no shot. After what seemed like a week he started to walk into an opening. I made a burp to stop him (I'm quite an expert at the "burp" noise) and it worked. While the shot was perfect, I had very little blood for the first 150 yards or so. It was getting to be dusk and I was doubting my shot, thinking it may have been a bit high. I stopped and contemplated waiting a couple hours or even till morning (I hate leaving them all night) when all of a sudden I hear snorting coming from his direction of travel. Sunnoffabitch...... I turned and went back to my buddies and left him all night. 1st thing next morning I find him not 30-40 yards from where I stopped the night before with a almost perfect shot. It was a touch high and his lungs took some time to fill up. If I'd have gone 15 FEET more, I'd have spotted a blood trail of gruesome proportions. I don't regret pulling out that night; decisions decisions!
  10. I don't know, it seems like they (YouTube) made it easier to upload videos? Maybe I just didn't spend the time with it either.....?? I much prefer video with my trail cams over still pics and posting them for others to see is cool.
  11. Dandy buck, congratulations.
  12. I don't recall if I posted this last year but with my newfound discovery in the ease of uploading to youtube, here it is. This is the buck I killed about a minute and a half after the video ends, IIRC. He was in eyesight about 20 seconds before this clip started. He wanted to go to the east but my grunt call turned him and he came in.
  13. Looks like a great day was had by all! I wish I could have made it but the boss HAD to have off and it would have been painful on Monday as I got a ton done today......... Looks like calm seas, and body blow chow?????????
  14. Hey Rack......post up your range results when you get a chance. A friend is looking to buy one of these in a larger chambering.
  15. I think before Dan knows it, he’s going to have a crew of guys there to beat the band!!!! Say when........
  16. You need a friend (moog) with a new ‘wheeler to yerk it off the trunk!!
  17. The latest issue of New York Outdoor News came in the mail today and as I sipped my G&T after work the first thing I read was that Will Elliott had passed away. Steve Piatt had a nicely worded piece about his friendship with Will. I couldn't find a link to that article on the web but here is a nice one from his good friend Bill Hilts. RIP fellow outdoors man............ https://www.outdoornews.com/2018/07/05/will-elliott-was-a-mentor-to-many-and-the-consummate-outdoorsman/
  18. They'll look outstanding on some guys/gals trophy room wall if they are so chosen.........keep pumping the juice to them! Maybe you'll get a buyer here before long??
  19. I think that just the fact that they are simpler than the ratchet type makes them LESS likely to fail for any reason?? Probably neither type will ever shiet in the hay............. Heck, I have just as much or more confidence in tying a wheeler (or darn near anything) with a good rope or two.
