  1. See through mounts? Carry on.......................
  2. You need to get over the need for iron sights.......IMO I've killed close to 130 deer with guns. (scoped shotguns, rifles, muzzleloaders and pistol) and never had the need for open sights or had a scope failure. Probably just dumb luck???
  3. I like and use Patagonia pieces for my BASE layer then either more Patagonia or Minus 33 gear. Both are great pieces but the Minus 33 for 2nd down is my favorite.
  4. 7mm-08 Tikka T3 with 140gr bullets. A tremendous choice for soooooo many things. A carbine by definition: https://www.google.com/search?q=carbine&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1 I don't think that's necessarily what you are looking for, is it?
  5. Heck of a tool for a recurve bow moog!!!
  6. You guys still frying this fish, I thought I ended it with my last post? One thing we need to discuss is the definition of "brush"? There's lots of gray area there........ The "final word": If legal, get yourself a scoped rifle (with lens caps for gosh sakes) and some decent bullets and go forth. If shotgun only MOVE. If the deer is walking and NOT wounded and you're in the brush, don't shoot. If the deer IS wounded and walking/running/hauling ass, SHOOT! Little bucks, big bucks, doe and sometimes a fawn will be your reward. Oh yea, why are you hunting brush anyway?
  7. Lens caps might set you back $24 I’ve never killed a deer with any open sighted shotgun or rifle because I’ve never carried one. Also, rest assured rain or snow has never kept me in camp or at home. Any thought that open sights are an advantage is silly. If your looking for a challenge or need to scratch a nostalgic itch, open sights are for you. You’ll kill more deer with a scope....easily.
  8. Here is some good reading for you. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/11612707/1 The "heading" for this thread is under "Hunting Rifles" and nowhere is the use of a shotgun/slug mentioned but......it doesn't matter. Slugs deflect as much as centerfire rifle bullets or more. You'll notice in a couple places that the 243 is mentioned as a top performer. You'll also see that some of the posters said, "get closer" or "pick a hole in the brush". A good quality scope is going to be much better for that than those dreaded open sights. Give me my .243/7mm-08 etc and quality glass and I'll get the job done. I had a small hole to slip the little 6mm bullet through and did, right here............
  9. The "void" That (dreaded) no-mans-land between the lungs & spine? Sucks...........
  10. Told ya so..........!! Glad you put the pen to paper (so to speak) and I hope maybe somebody here or a lurker can set some goals and see them through if this is a course they'd like to pursue. Starting at a younger age as Dan did is a great way to get on track.
  11. Hate to break your hearts but this ride is sold.
  12. I have 3 new hang on stands and I'd like to get them up in slightly different areas where I hunt. Not much of a goal but time/energy can make that not as easy as it used to be...........

Mighty generous of you to offer.
  14. Squirrel, crow, rabbit, pheasant, woodcock, grouse, dove, turkey, duck (black, teal, wood, mallard and one scaup) geese, deer (muley & whitetail), fox, coyote, elk, black bear, antelope and caribou. I think that's it, probably something glaringly obvious I missed? I can't wait to see Dinsdale's response. Pygmy will have a nice portfolio too!! (and he didn't disappoint!!) Woodchuck count too? Got 'em.........oh prairie dogs too. Forgot the one and only hog I shot a few years ago!

You have a jet ski? (I better add a for some of the guys that don't always get my humor attempt)

One thing (among plenty of others too) I've never done........ice fished. Never rode a jet ski either but have no desire to do THAT. Nice haul RT
  17. Been turned around a couple times. Worst one was while elk hunting in Colorado.......long story as I was on a bugling bull and kept on him until dark. I headed down the mountain to a place I was sure of. I hitched a ride with a couple cowboys in an old IH Scout 4x4, man what a wild ride back!!
  18. Yes but you’d have to post pictures and that’s not going to happen.......
  19. Niagara County is loaded with them. The biggest "flock" I ever saw was just north of Rt 31 probably 10 years ago.....had to be more than a thousand of them.
  20. Come on Mike, you know as well as I do that the only reason you spot & stalk is because you can't use a turkey call. They can be tricky to master but anything difficult is worth it. Good luck......
  21. Says the guy that stalks spring gobblers! You should really dial it back a notch on this issue as your ignorance is showing.
  22. I’d be on board for lead free shot if it helped to pass the deal.
