  1. http://www.bullhidebelts.com/2-Stainless-Chicago-Screws-_p_43.html What you are talking about are just QD swivels, correct? That's the style I like.........
  2. Is it near a home/farm or trail? Could be where some home-butcher is dumping his carcasses after the deed is done. OR...........could be dead humans in there??
  3. I wish; it's probably the high blood pressure.
  4. I'm very impressed with the Lapua brass; I use their brass for my .223ai, .243, 260 and 7MM-08 (necked down .306 in that one) The stuff really is nice to work with, IMO. RL-15 is a favorite of mine, just bought another pound Friday night..........for use in the 7mm-08 and 260 but can be used all over the place if need be. As I've stated before, Barnes TTSX is my favorite bullet and starting with the early X bullets then the TSX it's about all I've used in CF rifles for 20+ years. Saying that, the gun I've been carrying for deer in CF counties this year has been stoked with Nosler (hunting) BT bullets. I got a great price on them and a fellow that I have a ton of respect for, Steve Timm, has written thousands and thousands of words of praise for them and used them extensively on hundreds of game animals. That gun I'm carrying is my 7mm-08 with 120gr NBT's. I think I killed a deer a few years ago with them but don't recall. I did use a 180gr Nosler Partition for my elk hunt 11 years ago but I wouldn't today.........that gun is chambered in 300WSM. Now, hands down, the bulet would be a 165gr TTSX. No question about it........ Lots of great choices these days and take Pygmy's advice to the bank. (or butcher shop)
  5. I may have been born at night but NOT last night!! No way would I hunt near any gully even close to the size of Reynolds Gull, ditches scare the Be-Jesus out of me lately......... For those interested in WTH we are talking about, Reynolds Gully is a gorgeous little gem in Livingston County that is lightly visited and very accessible with a short 10-15 minute hike by "decent shoe wearing able bodied folks" Some may have remembered my pics from late this summer when my wife and I visited there. As a youngster, I fished there among many other creeks, streams, ponds and of course Hemlock Lake. http://nyfalls.com/waterfalls/reynolds-gully/
  6. It's in the "Rifle & Gun Hunting" sub-forum. I tried to hang a link last night for somebody else but it didn't come up clickable. I'll try again................. http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/29193-2015-huntingny-gun-harvest-thread/
  7. I don't know how close Curm is to Florida, NY but you could be onto something. Are you a PI in real life?
  8. Ain't nobody ever shot a buck from Mahogany Ridge, doe for sure but not a buck.
  9. How far are you guys from East Aurora?
  10. Are you saying those slings have the old "Chicago Screws"? Quite often I'll take my sling OFF the gun while on stand. If (rarely do I get the luxury) I sit a box blind at my buddies or when using my climber it comes off, I don't want the plastic buckles clanking on the window sills or on the frame of the climber when it's "go" time. Even when spring gobbler hunting quite often if I have the time I pull the sling off quick when the bird is coming. I just set it next to me on the ground or stuff it in my vest and never use it the rest of the morning if running & gunning. Same deal with hunting waterfowl, sling gets pulled when I'm stationary........... I have a few slings with that style attachment in the basement still, probably should find a good home for them. Not trying to change your mind (HA, that'd be a trick with a woman!!) on what to buy, just an opinion from a coffee drinking sweat pants wearing Christmas music listening Lazy Boy bound fellow hunter.
  11. That's precious!! What'd they do to him for thanksgiving, stuff him in the turkey?
  12. State Land? This is private land in East Aurora, minutes from Tim Horton's.
  13. See post w/pics in "Harvest Thread". OK, here's a pic..... (story in harvest thread)
  14. Number three; two w/bow and one with gun. So far.
  15. I got a late start this morning and never got on stand until around 7:25am, legal shooting time was coming fast! It seemed like I was there longer but the time of my cell phone pics says 8:25am and it only took 5-7 minutes to reload, climb down and waddle the 70 yards or so to the buck. He came in with a doe and was trailing her. Momentarily I considered shooting her as I figured the shadowy figure in back was going to be her fawn and they SHOULD have got my scent any second. She flicked her tail a few times and continued to head towards the little creek. Then she jumped across the creek and headed up the other side. I had just noticed the horns on the second deer and figured; don't blow it, take your time. He took two steps up the bank and stepped into my window, BANG and down he went. Nary a twitch................ I used my NULA smokeless ML with Parker 275gr BE bullets. I killed him out of the same stand I shot the archery buck from. I could tell he wasn't the same size body as the other buck so didn't call for dragging help but wished I would have! He only weighed 130# but the drag is mostly uphill. Got him home, weighed, hung and skinned. I'll get cutting tomorrow AFTER I take my sweetie pie for brunch.
  16. I killed an 8 point this morning but I'm too tired to do anything with the he pics now. Tough uphill drag, hoist into truck, drive home, unload, weigh, hang, skin and take shower. I'm shot; pics and story later.
  17. I'd look for a second hand Benelli Montefeltro. 26" barrel and wood stock! Great guns.......
  18. Lens pen by Leupold. I've heard negative things about them but I've been pretty happy with the performance. Ive used them for probably 15 years or so. I have a bunch of them stashed here and there. IIRC Cabela's used to send them free with a scope??
  19. I bet there will be a heck of a story behind that buck. CAN'T wait!!!!!!! Hopefully NYAntlers gets the full scoop.
  20. Great buck! Judging by his hunting clothing, I'm guessing (WAG) that he ISN'T using an Ozonics machine when in the bush................
  21. How's that work for hunting? Bet the 'Ol Insurance company might pucker up on that one.
  22. I had to lug some 80# bags of cement this afternoon and wasn't happy about it.
  23. I got nothing from it but I've been at it for quite a few years. (I know, old dog & new trick) What tip did you get the most out of, Rob?
