Surprising.......It seems than they are pretty hot these days in other states, I've never shot one but from what I read folks really dig them.

what caliber got your first deer

I've had a long history with the GC. Back in the late 70's I was starting to give them, Johnson's Country Store, Cartridge Corner, Cabin Range and Creekside Gun Shop in Bloomfield too much money. Dad wasn't too thrilled with it but WTH......... I live within a few miles of the GC now. I have family that works there and am friendly with a bunch of the guys, including Bill & John. A very close friend of mine is a relation to them. I get practically no special treatment but understand others frustrations. Before they did the remodel (15 years ago?) they had an awfully small place that was crammed to the ceiling with goods. I think the employees were frustrated with the close quarters too. The new place (same building but expanded to quadruple or more the square footage) is much more modern and was long overdue. Nobody, but NOBODY, carries what they have (I dare say) in New York State when it comes to long guns and handguns. -

Ha! Just the night before I got into a bar fight with the Marlboro Man over a chick; he got the chick, I got his old coat. -
Good to see some killed while NOT deer hunting, anybody can stumble into them THAT way. (myself included!). So who has done it regularly and how many do you get a year? This will be when we sort the wheat from the chaff....................................

Pretty dreary day here in WNY stil it'd be a good day for a party!! Happy Birthday, enjoy it!!
-
Sounds like about 4.5 hours or so. At least you don't have to contend with snow while driving!
-
Sounds like a great trip bubba. How many miles?Have fun and don't forget your rain gear!!
-
It ain't all about you. And, typically we have snow by then and the best hunting is when they have plenty of good cover. Preserves have plenty of birds to hunt right up through March 31 I believe.

How'd this sneak past me? Wooly has a Birthday today! Join me in wishing him a great day and a better coming year. I might/could just tip a bourbon eggnog to you here in a few minutes when I pry my overloaded lazy butt outa' this (seriously) Lazy Boy chair!!!!!
-
Not the knife I was expecting to see! Those are very cool....
-
Oh, I got ya now. You meant the time 10, not their ages. Too much eggnog for me........ My kid are 23 and 18.......

Pancakes are made and devoured after being slathered in Dinsdale made NYS maple syrup!!

Times are changing! In past years it'd be all over LONG before this. All the gifts would be opened and trash would be knee deep in the family room. Now it's just me and the pooch, listening to xmas music on satellite radio. I came down at 6:30; took my meds, fed the dog (after I kicked her butt OFF the couch!), took a walk around the block, made coffee and just finished reading the morning paper. As I walked the neighborhood I didn't see much sign of early risers either. When I was a kid, oh boy were we up early! I don't hear any stirring upstairs.......maybe it's time to start making pancakes, that'll wake 'em! Last night our daughter was out late with her boyfriend; dinner with his parents then exchanging gifts. Son was just hanging out and the wife was wupped from all the build up and holiday stress that takes much of the joy out of it for her. I wrapped a few presents after doing the dinner dishes, then headed to the cellar to continue the post hunting season re-organization and inventory. Who has the young kids? Post up some pics if you're so inclined, I miss those days. (But I'll never admit it to my wife!) I hope you all have a great day, however it is spent and whoever you spend it with. Merry Christmas, Larry

I don't think so.........far from it! -
Hmm, I've never had tag soup. (In NYS that is). I could supply a soup kitchen from my Colorado and Pennsylvania unfilled filled tags though!!
