  1. With all the wind, snow and frigid temp around tomorrow the outdoor activities are going to be pretty limited. I'd like to strap on the snowshoes again but I doubt I'll do it. Maybe.......... I have a couple guns I COULD clean, but the basement is awful cold.................. I have a couple things I can toss on Craigslist that didn't sell on Ebay, maybe I'll do that. The driveway will need some more attention for sure. Paid bills yesterday so I can't do that! I'm thinking it will even be too cold for church! Uggh...................... Your plans????
  2. JHC NO, my zipper. You completely blew the punch line! Get offa my lawn..........................................
  3. I was thinking the same thing Paula, then I saw the pic.................. Oh boy, what a let down.
  4. Question: What has 150 teeth and guards the Incredible Hulk? (I know it isn't a famous saying, phrase or quote but I thought I'd toss it out there........ )
  5. I'm finding that the driveway, sidewalks, roads and parking lots are getting narrow! Holy cats, there just isn't anyplace to put the darn snow. At home when I shovel, I push it to the side of the driveway, lift it up and half falls back down!! Hopefully (?) we get enough this weekend to blast it away with the snowblower. The neighborhood dogs are pissin' and poopin' on the sidewalks and driveways all over town........gross but I sure don't blame them. My pup can still negotiate to the backyard but I think she has tired of the deep snow too! We took a BRISK walk last night and for the first time all winter, everybody has their sidewalks clear! It had to be a "sumbeach" getting the ones open that hadn't been. The real bummer in this whole thing is is there is no relief in sight. Gimme some damned hope will ya.....!!
  6. Go ahead and laugh......................when you LEAST expect it, it'll happen! I VERY, VERY wise old man once told me: "you think about getting married until you're 30, then you forget about it" And I didn't listen..........................
  7. Anybody ever done much winter camping? It has always intrigued me but I never did it. How about temps like this? I bet that would be a challenge.........................
  8. My comment of course was only in jest. Prayers for whomever is ill.....................
  9. How about paddles, you like them long or short? Funny thing, I like both! When I got my canoe a neighbor gave me a long wooden paddle he had in his garage for years. I really like it but I also have a much shorter aluminum/plastic one that works fine too. When my wife and I go together, I take the longer one and she uses the short one. Good times! (no back rests in use this day)
  10. When I first saw your response I was using my Iphone and it looked like "I'll pass". I like "itll pass" better but the grammar/punctuation police will be all over it............................................... Ill be the last to make a stink though.................................
  11. I don't think I'd say the state could care less.........just that they are leaving things up to the counties discretion. They'd probably put up a BIG stink if somehow a rifle bill for Erie or Monroe counties showed up on their desk in Albany. What is the rifle you're looking at?
  12. Pawn it..........................................
  13. Happy for you!! Here is the press release................... Press release: State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer and Assemblyman Stephen Hawley have introduced special legislation, S.1292/A.4367, in the New York State Legislature to allow the use of rifles for big game hunting in Genesee County. “In several areas of New York State, sportsmen are allowed to hunt deer with rifles and this change in law would allow the use of rifles in Genesee County,” Ranzenhofer said. “As the this year’s session progresses, Assemblyman Hawley and I will be working together to get this bill signed into law.” Assemblyman Stephen Hawley is sponsoring the bill in the State Assembly. “Hunting is very popular in Western New York, and this legislation is being requested on behalf of the Genesee County Legislature. I am pleased to address concerns of local governing bodies from my district and will work with members of the Assembly’s Environmental Conservation Committee to bring this bill to the floor for a vote,” Hawley said. Last fall, the Genesee County Legislature and the Genesee County Federation of Sportsman Club requested the special legislation to be introduced at the beginning of the 2015 Legislative Session. Existing environmental conservation law only authorizes the use of pistols, shotguns, crossbows, muzzle-loading firearms or long bows when hunting deer from the first Saturday after Nov. 15 through the first Sunday after Dec. 7. The bill has been referred to the Standing Committee on Environmental Conservation in the Senate. If enacted into law, the bill would take effect immediately. 14. That is more than great! Worthy of a bookmark too...........................
  15. How do you think your local deer are doing? Where are the laying up?
  16. Snowshoes are the answer growie. Fun too!
  17. Maybe not more wounded bucks but certainly an increase in wounded doe.
  18. Funny thing........my dad. daughter, grandmother and dog all have birthdays on a 13th. Thanks for the reminder growie.
  19. Rochester I assume? My FIL has a trailer in the park at Waterport and I spend some time up there each summer. I've canoed parts of the lake many times but would really enjoy the paddle from (IIRC) Medina to Lake Alice on the creek. Often times we see the paddlers in the creek while on Rt 104. I know they put in there too but I think Medina area would be great. If you ever want to run it, holler.
  20. Well.........I have have a Mad River. It is 14'. It has back rests. That's where it ends! Mine is fiberglass with cane seats and teak gunnels. It has a somewhat flat bottom, not a speed boat for sure! It was made for Orvis and is called the "Fisherman". It is very stable and easy handling for one or two paddlers. The boat above looks heavy. What does she weigh? I bet it is stable...........looks good! Who are you buying from, Oak Orchard?
  21. As the owner of a 91% efficient furnace I haven't paid much heed to this thread but from these last few posts it looks like it was a hoot.
