  2. What a great deal for your father, congrats! I look forward to hearing the net score...........the one that matters.

The temps Tuesday morning were in the teens here. If I left my doe in the shed since I got home late Monday it would be a frozen hunk of nothing. By nothing I mean NOTHING happens while the deer is frozen, NOTHING. I left her in the back of my truck until early morning then nrought her into the garage. Around 10:30am I hauled her out to the shed to skin & quarter. Perfect................

    wtf snow!!!

36-65" of snow ain't easy to snowblow either...........BTDT a few times. Did I ever tell you guys about November of 2000? IIRC we had 72" in 5 days.

    Not relevant here.
  8. Wow...........Tonight I cooked up the tenderloins from the doe I shot Sunday night. Pan fried in minced garlic and olive oil, medium rare. Served with some canned corn (I know, I know but it was good!) and a microwave potato. Washed down with a couple Molson's. Oh baby was it delicious.......!!!!!!!!!! I butchered the quarters today from the doe; ground most and have 4 qts in the canner now. The long johns have been laundered...........I'm ready to roll again.

If you skin it ASAP and delay the butchering for about 12 hours or more you'll loose a fair amount of meat to trimming after the exposed skin dries out and crusts over. No biggie but a definite consideration. IF.......IF the temps are below, say 35 degrees you can leave the hide on as long as you want (like two weeks if you are so bold and can control the temps) and skin/butcher when you are ready with no meat loss due to drying out. Only if temps are conducive though!!
  10. Awe crud, I just remembered something..........this deer was shot in 8H, NOT 8N. I did change the date on the card but not the area. The tag is correct though.
  11. In my area they have all kinds of get togethers for the politically minded. I probably get two emails a week from them on a slow week. I just got this one............. https://snt150.mail.live.com/?tid=cm4jrC-4du5BGFLgAhWtm9Cg2&fid=flinbox I'd say that one is chocked full of good info.
  12. They are saying now some locals WILL see 70" from this dump.
  13. 38MPH GUSTS AT THE AIRPORT NOW. man-O-man are things brutal.........This storm is far from done for those in the path. It doesn't look like its544444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444 sorry, a kitty just went across my keyboard! 14. 24"-30" in some of these areas!
  15. Good question! Congrats on the fine bucks, do you have any better pics? They are certainly worthy of fine field pics!
  16. It has his again..................It always amazes me when these bands hit. We have nothing but an inch or so but just a few miles south they are getting crushed. I'd hang a screen shot of the radar but that is out of my pay grade. How is the snow in your area? (extra points for pics)
  17. Today is deer cutting day. Don't let those carcasses freeze, you regret it!! And remember, a sharp knife is a safe knife!
  18. Way easier said than done............certainly not impossible but alone that could be a heck of a capper to pull off.
  19. I bet I could answer this question for you but we can wait for the OP.......
  20. Thats odd......after I did the edit it fixed it. Hmmmm.......figures, it must be all the new traffic due to Saturday's impending excitement!!
