Did you go back and investigate the area for tracks? I'd do that............. How about take something over like a stuffed animal and put it the exact area to see if you can get a size reference to help cypher out WTH?? I'd do that too............ Looking forward to a follow up report!

Save all the breast, thigh etc you want and freeze it. Take it to a sausage maker and go nuts................. I did it one year with 35 birds. The summer sausage was wonderful and made for great xmas gifts.

Funny thing......I saw a very similar looking creature last Sunday on the way home from Point Breeze. I hit the breaks but didn't stop. My wife was already pizzed at me for some reason that escapes me now and that might have sent her over the edge. But I really did see something like that and I don't know WTH it was. Leaning towards weird ass woodchuck??

Looks good. I haven't even been in a wooden stand in maybe 20 years! Sure used the heck out of them before that though. Built more than my share and helped on plenty of others. We've been using hang on, ladder, climbers and hut types for 20+ years.

It's not uncommon for grouse to do stuff like that. It never happened to me and I can't explain why the do what they do. Very cool to see I'd bet!!

The chain tread is a joke. If you have any foot problems, avoid them as their support is/was terrible. I've had three pairs of the uninsulated examples (long gone after MULTIPLE resole jobs) and one (still have) insulated pac boot that I've had for at least 25 years. Only time I wear them now is to get the newspaper on Sundays............... LOTS of better choices in footwear today, IMO.

I fished a bit today then mowed the lawn. My daughter and wife were working so it was just sonny boy and I for dinner. We had a Hormell pork tenderloin in the fridge but it was marked "Use By July 1st 2014". Considering those things are packaged probably months ago those "use by dates" can mean something. I guess we'll see how tonight and tomorrow go because it was delicious. I torched the BBQ and dusted them with Bad Byron's Butt Rub. As they neared the desired internal temp I spread some Sweat Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce on them and finished them off. They were spectacular! I heated up some leftover peas, we split a sweat potato and I made a salad. Not too shabby! Hopefully we don't get sick and croak as that July 1 date is still in the back of my mind..................................

All you guys spouting off about all YOUR eagles..........................post up some pics will ya!?!? I've seen more eagles than I deserve in NYS. My first sighting would have been the late 70's early 80's when they were nesting at the south end of Hemlock. Since then I have been lucky to see them fairly often but I never had an opportunity to snap a couple pics. Pretty cool to see how the have rebounded.
