How ridiculous, tying a hog to a tree! I don't know the story behind this but you can only imagine my surprise when I spotted this from about 300 yards and commenced to put a really skillful stalk on it............................................. I figured I better get a picture. If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?
-
Maybe so but just take a look at the range of motion in those shoulders.............................................grin.

When I was younger I wasn't lame.......grin. I am now though. I did lots of trips like that. Not so much last minute planning, mostly a year or more in advance. Start your plan earlier and get your buds to commit, it'll be worth it!

What do you have mac? By "internal magazine" you mean a ADL? (no floorplate)

Slug guns, slugs, scopes and the time it took to "sight" them in................ The stories I can recall over the years as a young hunter in the days and weeks before opening day sighting in with friends and family. Scope eye, empty boxes of slugs everywhere, scopes flying off guns (honestly) running to the store trying to grab a few more boxes and all the curse words and late night gunsmithing chores........ I recall the days when the Hastings Barrels and BRI slugs were introduced. Boy was that a hoot. I'll admit that chasing groups back then was fun!! I haven't spent much time with slug guns in the past 6 or 7 years as I've been using a ML here in NYS exclusively and I sure don't miss 'em!! Now that rifle is a legal implement in Ontario County I hope & pray I'll never have to crap around with SG again! I won't be selling my Ithaca DS II anytime soon but I probably should load it up with cosmoline (SP?) since it hopefully won't EVER see the light of day again, Yea, I know.......Erie County and Livingston County aren't in the fold yet but I'll use the ML or XP100 if need be. We had plenty of good times and sure stacked 'em like cord wood over the years. She never let me down and shows not a bit of rust, just some bare metal in spots. The 2x7 Leupold scope has got to be 30 years old, clear as gin and never skipped a beat either. Slug guns................................

Aren't Copper John sights made in NYS??

Maybe you "got it" but you sure don't get it...................

I'm sorry to hear that. Criminals suck.................

Hopefully you'll get some pics of the bruin.

Nice looking gun. What is your powder charge?
-
Sounds like an interesting hunt.

One? Put in 6. Batteries last for a year in most of them now. After the bastards are caught, have the judge give THEM the bill for all damages, cameras and batteries. My advice is gratis.............

Or they'll be there long enough and MAD enough to burn the guys cabin down........................grin.

From the article above........just try and think of ALL the things that could go wrong with this hair brain scheme. $30k for two years? You really have to be kidding me.......... “I’m picturing kids on TV with signs that say ‘Don’t shoot the deer,’ ” he said. The Humane Society and In Defense of Animals are helping to pay for the experiment, which will probably cost at least $30,000 for the first two years. Although the does have to be treated every two or three years, they don’t have to be captured again once they’re tagged and that will keep labor costs down. Subsequent doses can be delivered by dart, Rutberg said. The Humane Society supports the program because “our major focus is to encourage people to tolerate wild animals and coexist with them,” Griffin said. Barbara Stagno of In Defense of Animals said, “There’s a lot of killing of wildlife under the guise of not being able to cohabit. It happens with geese, it happens with deer. Killing rarely is the answer.” Rutberg has run similar experiments on Fripp Island, S.C., and on the enclosed grounds of the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Md. Because Hastings is neither an island nor fenced in, there’s a risk of deer from elsewhere moving in and affecting the numbers. But Rutberg said that makes it more of a realworld experiment." (END OF ARTICLE) I could just see two darters in subsequent years, one with the clip board and chart holding all the numbers of darted deer and those that need a booster. He/she has a pair of cheap binos and is trying to read a number on the ever moving doe deer's ear. Then while checking the scorecard, tells the shooter to whack her in the azz. Damn the luck, she's gone!! All this is taking place in some house on 23rd street up on the 2nd floor as the deer is munching on the arborvitae shrub.

How are they going to "trap" these deer? Then what do you do, spray paint a number on them so you don't get the same one two or three times? I can just see these deer with their pretty ear tags with numbers on them, running "wild" in town! The financial end of it will sure be a hit with the residents, probably the talk of choice down at Starbucks. No way will it happen. As mentioned earlier, this comes up every couple years and then slowly fades away and out come the silenced .223's to get 'er done. Sad but true.

I get the feeling she doesn't travel the 90 often enough to warrant it.
-
She might not want to rattle her teeth or risk a breakdown in the territory.............. Hard to beat the 90 for smooth & fast even if it costs a few bucks. YMMV.
-
I agree. We are lucky to have more than a couple great bow shops to deal with. Jeff and his crew know their business. I have a job to do three doors down from the shop in the next couple weeks. I'll be stopping in, sans a checkbook though.......<grin>

Who'd you buy it from?
