  1. November of 1980. (yea, you read that right) Looooks like shot from the Mod Squad!
  2. Saw two on the top of a building in Amherst today, went back with my Brownie but they had beat it. It would have been a winner......!
  3. As the father of a 14 year old daughter I will print that and save it for 5 years when I'll allow her to date. Thank you.
  4. I get confused easy, as I am now, I think? How's things in Northern NY? You guys as far along with spring as we are done here? Pretty cold tonight up your way tonight? we'll be in the mid 20's here I believe. If we had punkins, they's be frosty. <grin>
  5. I used the Barnes 80 grain TTSX out of my 243 (at about 3400fps) last fall in PA on a nice adult doe and she went about 10 feet. 200 yards, head on. Confidence is a wonderful thing.
  6. A 22-250? Say it ain't so.....................<grin> I have a 223 Improved that's just itchin' to go out in November rather than JUST the summer months. Once the "powers to be" approve rifle in Ontario County, then it'll get some long over due trigger time. Until then, little grizzly bear 'chucks are the target of choice.
  7. Sorry Bubba, I forgot the <grin> Don't take me too serious.........
  8. This thread is a hoot. Some real pearls of wisdom!! Keep them coming.........................!
  9. I didn't wet the line. It was just tooooo nasty for me by the time I got into the area. I was in no rush and had to meet a guy in Avon, he had just bought a longbow off EBay and I offered up a mixed batch of "done up" cedar shafts and some other goodies to get him started. It was snowing a super wet sloppy mess by noon time and it continued through the day with a lovely fog up on the hill at my Uncle's place. We had to pull the blower off his tractor and put the bucket on as the snow blowing season has passed. We even got the engines started on all the spring/summer/fall implements. Mowers, ATV's and roto tillers are ready to rock......... Went to Atlanta, NY for chicken & dumplings at the Mountain View rest. Damn nice job they do.........!! Went back to the cabin, slummed some Jim Beam Manhattans and smoked cigars. Last time I checked, Wegmans still sells fish........................!! Went to the Redwood in Niples this morning for some breakfast then some serious LR shooting. Well, we didn't do much damage as the wind was humming pretty good but we had a good time anyway.
  10. I be in the Naples area tomorrow, not sure if I'll drag some sacks but I could if I wanted!! Hopefully I'll be doing some shooting with the rifles instead and doing some monkeying aroiund at my Uncle's cabin....... Good luck to all that go!
  11. Very nice work! I'm still working on perfecting my pyromaniac skills......<grin>
  12. I'm looking forward to Spring Turkey 2013.................
  13. Here's my favorite artist..... http://www.thomasaquinasdaly.com/watercolors.html He is also a good friend. Last week I had to deliver a couple watercolors to his framer for framing. Valuable cargo!!

About an hour from now I'll pop a Bud Light in your honor!! Happy BDay, cheers!
  16. I'm drinking Bud Light so I can afford gas for the mower. I hate the uncut look. Plus, my wife enjoys the work!
  17. Took my wife on a dove hunt in PA 10 years ago, coincidentally it was our 10 year anniversary. All was going well, I had about a half a limit of birds in the bucket and the dog was working well on the fetching duties. Then the BEAR showed up on the scene! He was packing the mail about 100 yards away and heading towards us. I looked at the 20ga Benelli, stoked with light #8 shot non-bear loads and thought, this is going to put the kibosh to this little getaway hunt........................ The PA grizzly veared off course and was last seen busting through the brush and is now probably hanging out in Pygmy Country! That pretty much finished off my wife's companionship for me when hunting. Oh well......! True story.
  18. Not sure about the present staff at T/C but years ago they were wonderful about things like that.
  19. BTDT. Family first. Good luck..............................
  20. Sometimes with the gun I'm only 8-10 feet off the ground. I can gain all the sight advantage I need, be comfortable and have a solid shooting rest, and that I value most.
  21. Unless a climber is adjustable from the tree (most are not designed for it) going 30' up and the diameter of the tree changes so much that the platform may not be level & safe. If the base is 20' from the ground I think you'll find that plenty high enough in most cases, IMO.
