  1. I have never used one either. What fun would that be?? If sighting in a bolt action, I'll pull the bolt out and start out by lining things up that way first but all other get the 25 yard start on a BIG piece of cardboard.
  2. For the price we pay they should be hand painted. :-[
  3. Wow, that's a beauty of a story. Thank goodness no one got hurt.
  4. I also shoot a Tru Ball release. I have two, one for a back up in case of a brainfart or mechanical breakdown. :'(
  5. How many on here have killed a 120" buck in NY? I know a couple guys who have killed 120" and bigger but for most guys to hold out for a deer that size makes for some pretty lofty goals. If you can hold out for a buck that big, good for you!
  6. I've seen the stars but never used them, probably should broaden my horizons! If your combo is more accurate maybe I could "miss closer"
  7. Geno C- There is a way to be attached all the time, from the ground up and then back down. After you have installed your treestand with the aid of a linesman's safety harness (you do use one when installing your stand, correct?) and your standing on the platform, still wearing your linesman's harness, you attach a 33' length of rope above your head, around the tree. On this rope is a smaller diameter length of cord tied into a prussic knot. When you get ready to climb down, you attach your harness to the prussic hitch and slide it with you as you descend from the stand. After you get to the ground, detach your harness and tie the loose end of the 33' line around the base of the tree at waist height. The knot slides up and down but if force is applied to it, it locks in place on the safety line When your ready to hunt that stand, you just clip your harness to the prussic hitch and slide it up with you as you climb. Your never not attached to the safety line at any time. The safety line can be purchased with the hitch already installed but I have chosen to make my own. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.instructables.com/image/FQF2AGGFZ8J4A88/Prussic-Knot.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-tie-various-knots/step10/Prussic-Knot/&h=273&w=500&sz=15&tbnid=IVQPrpOMLz-TSM:&tbnh=71&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dprussic%2Bknot&usg=__zVyRXnzyDO8mlxW6voeXP-NvLD0=&sa=X&ei=BPhFTPqzCMP7lwfK06nPBA&ved=0CCgQ9QEwBg
  8. I live in Amherst. Hunt in Ontario, Wyoming and Erie Counties.
  9. Does anybody know when the LT license started? Just curious.
  10. No, it comes off and hangs over my shoulder on a hook or broken/sawed branch. I use a Kwikee Kwiver.
  11. I do it quite often but only use Zwickey Judo points. I don't know what your experience with them is but I wouldn't use anything else. Judo points have been in my quiver for many, many years. One arrow in my quiver always is loaded with one. Typically I shoot a few Judo point tipped arrows as I mooch my way into a stand in the afternoon for a hunt. Great practice.
  12. I donated $2 to the PA Game Commission last week when I bought my license on-line. Does that constitute excess money?
  13. The harness I have been using for approx. 10 years is made by DBI/SALA. It was made with black webbing and has rubber covers over all the metal buckles. The Fox 40 whistle attached on the chest strap is also a nice feature. I saw it advertised in a Hunting magazine and snagged it. The few harnesses I've seen that come with the tree stands aren't very easy to work with. Better to spend a few dollars and get a decent one that you won't be frustrated with and not wear.
  14. For white-tail, 120 grain Barnes TSX handloads out of my NULA 7mm-08. Could change in a moments notice to a 243 with Coreloks. If I spend the time getting a load together, I'd like to use 55 grain TSX bullets in my 223 Ackley. Although I hunt PA each year and have hunted a few other states, I look forward to hunting with a rifle in Ontario and Wyoming Counties this fall.
  15. Always. For the gent that said nobody would miss him.......it would suck to be blowing into a tube to control your wheel chair and getting fed through another tube, wouldn't it? And burmjohn: yea, 12' and lower you can't get hurt from a fall. You might die but you certainly won't get hurt. Have a nice day!
  16. That's a huge score for your 24 year old! If he hunts and fishes each year he'll be way ahead of the game by the time he gets to be an old geezer. And if he decides to move out of state, it is still valid. Great deal.
  17. Quote-"Time with my dogs clears my mind, renews my faith, and lets me see the world as it is. My only regret loving dogs as I do, is the misery of their early departure." Robert G. Wehle, ELHEW KENNELS Mr. Anker- Great signature line. Somewhere I have a photo of a statue of Mr. Wehle and a dog from the middle of Main Street in Union Springs, Alabama. Pretty cool.
  18. Gun hunting, maybe a cigar or two during the slow times ;D Archery, no. Duck, goose, dove, absolutely!
  19. I checked. I purchased LT sportsmans, muzzle loader and archery 9/2002. $500, $125 and $125=$750 This will be my 9th season with the LT package. Sure seemed like a pile of cash at the time! (still is) I wouldn't be surprised to see and not totally apposed to some kind of required stamp each year for LT license holders. Certainly would come with a HUGE uproar from the masses if/when it is purposed but in this cash strapped state I think it is a possiblity.
  20. I purchased mine about 7 years ago, just before they jumped it then, bought the ML and archery LT at the time also. IIRC, $770 for the whole enchilada. (I could get up off the couch and check but.....) Smokin' deal.
