  1. you can grill burgers i was saying that with regards to biz not eating ground
  2. damn man, not trying to judge, but I gotta say I'm disappointed.
  3. he's tried them, he doesn't eat them with every kill. That's the biggest difference between eating the heart and liver. He's tried kidney too and doesn't eat it much going forward either. organs and glands are not the same.
  4. wife "you killed a moose?" Jordan "I killed a wolverine too with a hatchet" wife "you're a wildman" *thinks, i'm not sure what I married* awesome!
  5. seasons are too long. nothing earlier for the love of god. dont give me the option haha.
  6. i mean if you're the landowner, most of the environmental game laws do not legally apply to you. But you have to be the landowner or immediate family (son, daughter, wife). You can literally kill and shoot almost everything not federally protected.
  7. yes i've heard that too. do it fresh and early. Not sure yet how I plan to prepare them. I'm usually a double lung guy, but with my luck I'll get a heart shot haha.
  8. I think it's ok not to get upset about it, but it's also ok to not be happy for them lol.
  9. I think you should do a little more research if you think vertical bows are shooting similar speeds, let alone no draw, optics etc.
  10. you confuse me sometimes. You're willing to shoot a deer in the ass, but wont shoot a deer when it's too warm?
  11. in Mississippi, you can essentially kill what you want on your own land. Many game laws don't even apply. But let me ask you this. If you're using that logic, should you be able to shoot 3 bucks a year because it's your property? Remember, the animals are owned by the people of NY, not by the land owner.
  12. i dipped my toes into the sausage making process last year and intend to do a lot more this year if I have enough meat. I'm going to do a 50/50 mix this time and going to try some summer sausage. More importantly, this is the first year I'm going to try and do something with the heart and liver. Cant wait!
  13. this is a pretty wide held belief. It's not that it's bad, but it's on the lower end when ranking our hoofed friends meat quality.
  14. I guess I would suggest you take a different approach. Enjoy the amazing country and experience. If you get an elk, cherry on top right? But there was a good interview I read a while back with a long time guide. He said it's not much fun for him to guide anymore. In the past, guys would come out and enjoy the experience, but now it's all about results. They're sitting fireside on the side of a mountain in Alaska overlooking an amazing landscape as the sun goes down and disappointed? I can't grasp that. He did go on to point out that the cost of some of these hunts are in access of $20k and many of his clients aren't rich men, but save their whole lives for the hunt and understands why the pressure is there, that he understands your old lady and your buddies might not understand how you could have "wasted" all that money... but try to look at the positive side of it and enjoy the experience.
  15. and they're thinking about changing it because of the chaos and negative affects on the animals. Sometimes we think that it's just the shooting and killing that is bad for a heard, when in fact general stress and anxiety isn't too great either. Similar to how stress affects us humans.
  16. FREE PIZZA!? yeah i'd say that would be pretty sweet for sure
  17. there's a similar discussion about the shed hunting sesaon which is highly regulated. tons of hunters run into the woods when the animals are at their weakest and it pushes them harder than we should.
  18. lived off winspear for 2 years in college. Bailey ave is rough...
  19. can't go too wrong. the more popular chain style are marks, cams, pontillos and salvatores. I'm not local to the highland area, but I'm sure there are some solid pizzerias there. Mr. Shoe's is nearby and I used to eat lunch there all the time. real good buffalo chicken pizza iirc.
  20. you haven't hunted long enough my friend
  21. yes, yes it is. With my 3 little ones I couldn't even fathom pulling this off anytime soon.
  22. my point was just this. the stuff isn't oderless and fatboy shouldn't feel like it's a no brainer to use the stuff. There is a scent and there are risks with spraying any chemical, even if it's just on your clothes. I'll repeat that I use it during turkey and love the stuff, but don't use it for deer. I also don't smoke on stand or even out of the stand. Hunt your way I guess... but I felt compelled to note that some may want to consider the cons to using it.
  23. second this. enjoy the experience and have that be your gauge, not if you punch a tag. You'll be in amazing country that very few venture in to enjoy.
