  1. i know that myself and circle of friends from college never did anything above and beyond. Those that I knew who did were certainly going down that road anyhow. With the abundance of prescription pills these days it wouldn't be surprising to me if a kid takes his first pain killer before he smokes a joint. And which would you rather have?
  2. I mean technically that is added protected storage and probably cheaper than a cab.
  3. oh you've heard huh? Seems we should do away with booze first dont you think? https://gazette.com/news/mixed-findings-on-colorado-marijuana-traffic-deaths/article_ec6a8f4c-a722-11e8-9c81-17b5312abb33.html there are other reasons. It's proven to be a safer sleep aid and pain killer than some of the alternatives which is why it's already legal for medicinal purposes. Also, making it illegal to get puts good people in a bad spot. It supports organized crime and can ruin someones life for something as simple as smoking a plant, meanwhile the police should be focused on much more dangerous drugs like fentanyl, not weed.
  4. i should save some of my replies so I don't have to keep typing them out, but then I realize it doesn't matter and your understanding of how polls work wouldn't change. There are 57 votes on this thread as of the time of this post. In NY there are nearly 600k tags bought every year. Your sample size is 4 orders of magnitude off, not to mention a subset of hunters who use the internet and are more likely to try new things and interested in new tech. While I don't disagree that you can gather some insight from a poll like this and would even agree that crossbow support outweighs those against it. Would you please, for the love of baby jesus and the holy spirit at least stop pointing to these as evidence. PLEASE!?
  5. those numbers are higher than you'd think
  6. i think he posted it before and iirc was of the IDGAF mentality about it, which I can understand. But why it's tough to post anything online today without someone seeing something and calling you out on it.
  7. I didn't say you couldn't carry it, but it's just not very convenient like you said. I tend to take my coat off inside haha. i'm a 4 o'clock guy as well
  8. sure, and I'll sell you a corvette with a kia engine
  9. How can you say that if you don't have it and never have? You're judging your whole argument on this based on what your wife and friends have said. As others have said, yes there are changes and yes that can be frustrating. Thing like removing windows movie maker annoyed me, but there are improvements as well. For the average user it has built in virus protection and the average smart user wont need to pay for something above and beyond. The boot speeds are much better and the layout of 10 is more inline with 7 which was well received. 8 was considered a turd by all. And heck, for the first time ever it was a free update! I guess I dont really care, but I struggle with your stance when you haven't even tried it.
  10. so were you and the wife christening the house upstairs or what? I feel like you skipped the best part of the story.
  11. man haven't seen this poll in what, a month? geez
  12. I also have a kimber stainless, but that baby is my bedside gun. Could not imagine it as a carry. I prefer my glock 23 or ruger lcp. The funny thing about it though, is I'd pick that 1911 as my choice for shooting everytime, but that's because it's big and heavy. Compromises...
  13. my stx has been going strong for 5 years. all steel insides and the thing is a beast for under $200.
  14. just a heads up, you can change your address on your scorecard and store account to stop getting those coupons. I changed mine to NRA headquarters lol.
  15. who is pussy footing around it? The 2A issues is largely supported on the right, but it crosses party lines. It's not a simple red or blue issue. The issue with dicks is that over half the country doesn't feel that strongly about the 2A. They're not rallying against it like some on the extreme left, and they're not boycotting like some on the extreme right. It's just an issue, but not one that is important enough for them to miss a good sale. The whole thing sucks really. I've bought a lot of good athletic wear on sale and last minute hunting gear. I have always been a fan of their stores. But to say some are pussy footing around the subject isn't correct. People just have their own belief system and how much they're willing to inconvenience themselves to help support it. It's no different than buying non GMO food, or makeup that wasn't tested on animals. Heck, I just learned that buying wool that was farmed west of the Mississippi negatively effects wild sheep. The world is hard and you just can't go all in on everything or you're left sitting naked in the woods licking algae off of rocks. someone else claimed they do make a profit and i'm not sure that's right, i'd like to see it written somewhere. I always thought it was a reason to get you in the store, and honestly it always worked for me. I'd stop in because it was more convenient with their hours and take a stroll through the hunting department and almost always buy some things. i'm not sure if you were joking or something, but you can't buy an AR anywhere in NY... that's not just a dicks thing.
  16. You know what's kind of funny about squirrel hunting, is that when you're out there after deer they appear everywhere. They're aggravating and annoying. Then when you go actively looking (not just in your backyard bird feeder) they're more allusive and the thrill of seeing one is exciting haha. it's a real nice book for ~$20 with prime. Very nice pictures and even if you know all there is to know, it's a nice coffee table book just in and of itself. there is something with the visual and mental part you need to get over with squirrel. If you can do that (which is why my kids loved it so much and the wife wouldn't even try) then you realize it's a pretty decent meal. Chewier and not as good as chicken wings, but still enjoyable and at least worth a shot. Don't just throw them on the grill though. Try the fryer or a stew, the tougher meat really needs to be broken down.
  17. haven't you heard about all the carnage occurring at the already 11 legalized states?
  18. you don't have to smoke marijuana. Right now it's medically legal in NY as a vapor, tablet or tincture. The effects of already legal alcohol are far worse than marijuana ever will be. It's also proven in studies that smoking once a week or less does not damage your lungs. Smoking a pack a day does. Not to mention the effects of pharmaceuticals that are legal that could be replaced by an organic plant. but keep your head buried in the sand.
  19. To make a hunting analogy, This is the equivalent of still hunting with your compound from 94 because it still works. But it’s your world, I didn’t mean anything by it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Dude 8 is the worst, you’re missing out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. As opposed to drunks? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Even went to church my good man. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Needed to try out my new fryer so I went for a hike yesterday afternoon. Not great weather for it, but it was a good hike with some post season deer and turkey scouting mixed in. Ended up 2 for 3 in a few hours. The 3rd was hauling and had no intentions of stopping or climbing. Both were spotted on the ground and 40 and 50 yard shots. Owe the first to my new vortex binos. No way could I see him in the bush where he went without them. Love this Buffalo sauce recipe by the way Pics in reverse lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. i have an american in .30-06. Fine shooting gun for the money. I have a vx-3 3.5-10 on it. Only complaint I have are the mags and I still haven't found an aftermarket one. I'm on my second from ruger and my hornady rounds still sometimes fail to "spring up" in order for the bolt to grab them. Seems to only happen in the cold (which as an upstate ny deer hunter is a problem lol). edit to say my dad has the same gun and hasn't had the problem, but he also shoots maybe one round a year.
  25. you're just getting to 10? Honestly a new OS is never a pleasant experience, especially if you're trying to save stuff, but my 7 to 10 update was about as painless as any OS upgrade I've ever done and honestly 10 is pretty good.
