  1. I sort of have to call BS though. For bones to get to that point they need to be there for years. Heck, I have a dead deer from last year that still has rotting flesh on it nearly a year later. Nobody went looking for this missing guy?
  2. so the obvious question is, did you upgrade or are you now boatless?
  3. Nobody would ever have refuted that. Natural immunity is and will always be the best form of defense. The kicker of course is that some people died or become forever changed during the course of battling some of the first variants which would have built in that immunity. Interesting fact I heard from Bill Maher of all people the other day. over 70% of those who died from covid were overweight. So yes I think it's fair to note that those who are overweight may also suffer from other health issues, but it does just go to show that many healthy people (although not all) did not have much to worry about. I have my issues and that's why I got my shots. But I never loved the direction we went with pushing the vaccine on workers, military etc. for the reasons I mentioned above.
  4. still don't get it. but i'm just messing with you old farts
  5. i've heard the same and use it on my hands. ever since covid there's a bottle in my truck. Just didn't slather it all up and down my arms which I should have. Too focused on the cold beer and a/c in the truck lol.
  6. I got it horribly as a kid and then most of my adult life i didn't get it at all. I think now it's mild compared to when I got it as a kid. I also have some good stuff that helps attack it early on and stop the spread. I think my problem is that a few times I've encountered some nasty patches and my immunity isn't strong enough lol.
  7. lol I don't think either of us were bitching just shooting the shit. I have zero cares about what others think of me (pretty sure that's been obvious over the years here). But, spending 2 afternoons in 90+ heat voluntarily working an orchard, spraying a plot and hanging off a ladder with a chainsaw to cut off a 12" branch while putting in a stand sure wouldn't be up there with this desk jockey stigma you have in your mind. PS far worse is my poison ivy than my scratches.
  8. @crappyiceis going to be upset at your toes being in the pic!
  9. Mine ended up being fat ass field mice. They're small enough to get through the fence. My trail cam wouldn't catch them, but try just a few mouse traps with some cheese and maybe a rat trap if you suspect chipmunks. But the animals that seem to just snip my plants for no reason ended up being mice for me. Check for small knaw marks on your veggies too. I think the bigger guys will just take em, but mice will knaw at them.
  10. my wife always give me a hard time because it looks like I fought off a bunch of cats, but they're superficial and heal quick. It's just too hot for a long sleeve, which is why I try and do the wood cutting farm work in the winter. I can easily wear pants, but long sleeves are a no go.
  11. those look amazing! This tree was just one of those really funky and large trees. I couldn't even use the 6' strap that came with the stand, I had to use an 8'. I used a 15' extension because it's a spot i can drive my truck too and it just made it safer and easier to install and I still had a heck of time tossing the strap between hands lol. I think i've used pole saws in the deep woods too. Harder with hang ons as you're trying to limit all the climbing up and down.
  12. forgot about the kids. Showing them that you can grow your own and teaching them how a little work will pay off is worth the cost of the fence and raised beds alone. My 5 year old did ask me if I can grow chocolate, so there's still a ways to go haha.
  13. my arms and legs look the same. I cut up some wood the other day too that was covered in briars. Just hugging the tree trying to get the ratchet strap roughed my arms up good too. cold beers never taste as good as they do after that kinda work though.
  14. An interesting take, and i don't mean this negatively but seems to fall in line with how you hunt. I think most of us garden not to save money or because it's easy, but because we like to provide on our own. It's a fun hobby unlike deer hunting that can be a pain sometimes but enjoyable when things are working. I'll often take a few minutes in the evening or during lunch to weed, water and pick. Gets me outside and once you have some of the basics down it's not exactly difficult. Giving away produce to friends and family is also nice. We gave the ladies that clean our home a whole assortment the other day and it's always well received.
  15. finished my ladder stand in heat yesterday. I've never put in a ladder stand and it took me longer than my hang ons lol, but now I have a handle on them. This tree is super slanted and it will be a gun only stand so it was really my only option. Had to cut a big limb while up there that was a little puckering but went ok. Got poison ivy in the process. Then sprayed my acre fall plot. Had a nozzle bust in the process so that was fun. All in all I'm feeling good. August gets real crazy for me when the kids start football and I don't like feeling pressured. Will have maybe 1 more stand to work on and the annual trimming, plus the plots. As hot as it is, it still helps scratch that itch.
  16. all that rain and sun for sure have set things on fire.
  17. i read somewhere that not all flowers are fruit and some are male, so it's natural to see them fall off? Not sure that's correct though.
  18. shit it could be pink and plastic and i'd have been happy if literally everything didn't rust on it. Hell one of their biggest issues was the damn transfer case and actuator. Hey it's a blizzard and you just found out that your 4 wheel drive isn't going to engage. Or you're driving down national forest dirt roads in mississippi and your power steering gives out because the cooler rusted through and you lost all your fluid, or you could be getting ready to stop at a light when your brakes give out because your lines rusted through. I could go on, those were just the scary ones.
  19. There are those late weekend gun season sits where it's cold and you haven't seen a deer in 3 days that I'm basically begging for the season to end. The new holiday season really pissed me off.
  20. I had an 04, same model... that thing was a giant turd.
  21. Mine hit on sunday. catching up on the hunting public eating breakfast and here I am putting in a stand in this heat. It just gets worse from here on out.
  22. Put in a ladder stand yesterday afternoon. Sure is nice to have snacks growing nearby.
  23. wow i'm checking fertilizer now, it was bad for my spring plot but i see its gotten much worse
