I'm a big nurture vs nature with dogs. That said, I've seen some dogs that just kinda suck no matter what you do. There's always a little bit of a gamble.

yeah that's a steal. Our golden live till 15 and he was around that. Just a mom and pop breeder out of the newspaper classifieds (remember those?) when my then gf and now wife were in college. Dog was absolutely amazing. Never sick and never an issue. We spent a heck of a lot more this time around... time will tell.

that's awesome, we just named our puppy Colt. Great minds!

we just picked up our new black lab almost 3 weeks ago now. He has big shoes to fill after our golden made it to 15, but passed in August. That dog was amazing, wouldn't chase out of the yard and you could walk him off a leash, never had a single obedience class. As for Colt (sweet name I know) things are slowly being destroyed around the house.

I am not foolish enough to think gun confiscation is impossible, but this isn't Australia. Guns, like it or not are a part of our history and who many american's are. I can't remember some of the recent statistics but it's crazy and like the majority of americans own at least one gun or something. Anyhow, what I think is far more likely than some officer knocking on your door and wanting your guns, is what is happening now. Making it so, so hard and expensive to get one or possibly the insurance route that makes it hard to keep owning one that is more likely. So papist doesn't get to go down waco style, but he may have to pay out of his ass for insurance or risk someone finding he has one without insurance and getting arrested. The slippery slope is something many worry about with gun control. I think most gun owners are ok with better back ground checks, closing loop holes, training or age restrictions. But what happens is what happened to us in NY. They keep coming back for more and more and it's hard to tell us that we're crazy conspiracy theorists and paranoid when a guy like me who is 38 has seen it in his short life. tell us you're alone in this world without telling us you're alone not everyone is an old man and had time to squirrel away Nam era AK's.

what town/county? -
you're dead on. I hope people just shoot what makes them happy. I pass 1.5's on just about any year, but I've had tough ones where I've taken one that was a big crotch 4. That same tough year I passed smaller 3's that were the same age. At the end of the day, taking a 1.5 off the table (big or small) still "hurts" you for next year. Although as I'm writing this, taking the better genetic 1.5 out might hurt you even more. edit to say my statement above doesn't apply to button bucks. Leave the g damn buttons alone.

I know what he means though. There's a scrub buck and then there's a 1.5 who looks like he's been roiding.

it's interesting because a lot, and i mean a lot say 225. As is this took me a good 3 to 4 hours to smoke 10 pounds, which I guess isn't bad. But starting that low seems like it could take a while... I wonder too if lower heat is important when cheese is added or for thicker sausages. I didn't let mine sit overnight in seasoning either, but my recipe didn't have any cure. I have some summer sausage I still haven't done that has cure and a 24hr wait time. next year!

yeah i for sure think next year will be adding legit fat and not just fork. Some kind of ratio like a few of you posted about. thanks all

hell we don't even have tough laws for drugs and theft, why would they even think about trespassing? My legal firearm though? Oh boy, watch out!
