Still pretty early for heavy scrape use. Deer, both doe and buck will hit scrapes all year but I wouldn't worry too much about mid august activity.

highly recommend smokeys pre-orbital. not cheap but my results have been amazing.

that's not a bad idea to do some throw n grow if you get poor results. I might do the same if it comes to it. -

that's very thick already. did you do a double bag? In my experience clover starts our sparse but then as the root systems build they thicken up. -

man this was supposed to be rain for 3 days in 8f and now it's down to under 50% chance on thursday... I spent friday afternoon putting in a new stand and trimming another with the kids. I think I'm still going to go early this week and disc and watch the forecast, that way I can fert and light disc and seed if it looks like it's going to rain for sure -
i'm convinced that they've evolved and know how to lick the pb off w/o setting off the traps lol

Generally unchanged from past few years, although I will admit to being more ambitious with higher hopes having more time on a new property and some food plots and lots of off season work that I hope pays off. 1. Always at the top of my list is to enjoy the time away from a hectic life. Enjoy my woods therapy and not to make it feel like a chore. 2. At least 2 hunts with my oldest 2 boys, even if we don't see a bit of brown. 3. Put at least 2 deer in the freezer with a goal of 3 (2 bucks and a doe or 2 does and a buck, it all works out). 4. A 2.5 or better bow buck, preferably a 3.5 but I wont eat tag soup if a nice 2.5 gives me a shot.

worst I ever had was my wife's daily driver. A 1 year old brand new explorer but parked outside near an oak tree. One day before our trip home to NY I popped the hood to check it all over and a squirrel had made a nest in the engine bay. Chewed a bunch of the foam engine cover and through a rubber line (they're now made with bio-oils and attract critters). I was terrified as I know there aren't extra hoses that don't have a reason and was thankful to find it was to the rear washer fluid. I could never repair it because it was right at the firewall of course and would have required me to take the whole glovebox and trim out. screw it and we traded it in 2 years ago. One trick I use with success for my car and motorcycle during off season storage is dryer sheets. Put a few in spots that you WONT forget to remove. Keeps the mice away.

I'm not sure that's quite a garden feast, but I love to see those pictures none the less.

he's not hated at all, but takes any small amount of criticism way too seriously as if it's a challenge to fight. Even a friendly jab at bill's sideways picture posting is an act of war. I'm convinced he's either delusional or enjoys thinking he's the victim. I'll double down. I honestly think there is only one member here who is genuinely disliked and he wont see this post because he's over in the political sub planning the next attack on an fbi building.

that's sort of how how oxford, ms was when I lived there for a bit and it looks like it's in-line with northern georgia. Still had cooler winters with some snow, lots of lakes and it was far from flat. All sorts of good hunting too. I'm not sure I ever got used to the whitetail rut happening around christmas time though.

yeah this is an old fruit orchard where the trees have been cut and in 50 years i dont think they ever were sprayed. I do know what you mean about gly resistant weeds though. For sure something to consider if I keep doing this plot every year. -
man that doesn't look like a bad place to sit even if you never see a deer. awesome!
-
same here. I can only think of 3 I don't care for and even then there's no hate. I wouldn't take a lack of comments or response personally. There's really just not that many of us left and the owner is MIA and we have 1.5 active mods. This time a year things also pick up.

sprayed my fall plot again last night after discing a little of a week ago. Some small new growth and stubborn stuff was still clinging on. Just did 10 gallons over the usual 20 though as gly is f'n expensive right now. I'm a little worried about my clover. It looked great pre-mow last week and after mowing even at 8" I'm seeing less clover, even the weeds are dying out. My guess is some rain and cold weather will snap it right back, but man this drought is hurting even "weeds" like clover... If all goes to plan I'm hoping to get seeds in the ground Sunday or Monday. -
congrats on the new opportunities. Disappointed the bullies weren't the reason you left though
-
yeah my zukes are all but done too

haha fair. But even before kids, I can't recall a slow day in September. Let alone with 3 in football.
-
It's a hard pass for me. On the off chance that I have nothing going on and there's a cool day I might consider it. But this time of the year is so busy and typically so warm that it's not something I'd care to do. I also like to save my doe till gun. A hot doe is better than any food plot and I'm not overrun with them.

I've seen a bunch of fisher in 8F and this guy is much larger and fluffier... but it's also a lot colder up there. My guess was also fisher, but if someone smarter than me told me otherwise I wouldn't argue.

I'm shooting for Monday in 8F unless they call off all the potential rain. It is what it is at this point I think. -

My understanding is that they want you to roll before seeding so that the seeds don't get buried too deep, but if you did a drag with your fert you'd be fine too. I imagine you'll still get good results unless you had some real deep ruts after discing.
