if it's not your buddy and you're "outraged" over vegas? i can easily see the timing of all this.

I've lost a few deer with a gun. young and dumb. I've only lost one and not fatally to a bow and it was also dumb. Dragging out a dow this nice basket 8 walks up behind me. It was my last day of bow and I had a tag. I drew without my release and briscuit. yes it was dumb. yes he survived and was fine. story is somewhere on here. I feel like I shoot better with the bow because of the range and need for a good shot.

I was looking at nissan (frontier i think it is?) and colorados a few years back. Convinced i didn't need a full size and that the midsize would be easier to drive and more fuel efficient. Well with 3 kids and a dog I can tell you that i've packed every inch of that bed and not just going camping, but hauling stuff even if it's a few times a year. I've never once regretted going fullsize doublecab. The fuel efficiency is not as great as some think either. just my .02.

this weather is horrible for movement. lot of corn and other crops could be causing him to change his pattern. Remember not too long ago the season wasn't even open yet. Give it time and patience. The rut hasn't even begun yet.

at over a grand i find that hard to believe. target practice with a crossbow isn't even that fun. now loud booms. no real skill...

I'm really kind of bummed about this last weekend. Baptized the youngest Saturday afternoon and didn't want to risk a long day should my shot not be true. Plus with the morning warm temps and rain I wasn't feeling it. Got all cleaned and packed for Sunday but as i watched the forecast it didn't look good. All 3 bad things for deer. Warm, Wind and Rain! stayed up drinking some wine with the wife and watched baby driver. Alarm goes off and I didn't need a lot of push to climb back in bed. Really hate missing a whole week of bow season but would rather not burn out a stand on a bad day.

i'm not overly concerned that the crossbow means we have a more dangerous season, but when regular archers are shooting eachother... man. this is so much easier to "fling" away at moving bushes. we suck so bad sometimes at target identification.

yeah that's kinda the scary thing. I don't think they're kicking down doors for a few illegal mags or anything. There's more to this story. Although, as a legal gun owner I'm glad that they're enforcing the rules... even if i don't agree with them.

fwiw, that park doesn't allow hunting either.

I can be a bit of a gear junky. But i would argue 90% of my modern gear is just designed to keep me warm, comfortable and hunting longer. Not to attract and get bigger deer. Heck I started hunting just 15 years ago. handmedown gear and man did i get cold quick. I've never bought ozonics or spent substantial time and effort on food plotting and game cams. the fanciest i may have got is with lighted nocks. And really that's just a recovery aid. Just because I'm head to toe in scentlok or UA doesn't mean i'm not out in the woods for the therapy that comes with it all. To witness the sunrise that melts away the dew as the birds wake up. To watch the steam come out of an old gnarly bucks nostrils. The tv show hunter represents less than 10% of hunters in my opinion.

the friend of a friend that knows the person and who posted it (not the person who owns the dog) says she thinks there's a report. so yeah... it's one of those. I honestly know this would be all over the news if it was true. news 10 would eat this up.

i agree with that. but most don't go 0 to 100 either. they start with protests, rallies etc. and escalate...

Some of you may belong to the closed Webster facebook group. It's easy enough to join if you don't. There is a story that popped up last night that has quite a bit of traffic regarding a supposed dog shot by a hunter. There is a good bit of support from hunters and others calling bs. There is also your typical "scum, get your food from the store, hope someone kills him etc". There has been no real details posted and a lot of good statements about how the wound could not possibly be from a broadhead and that the part of the park she's claiming doesn't allow hunting. But if you'd like to join in to help squash the nonsense. please do

I'd say that's not the norm though. I've overheard some kids at dicks trying to sell compounds. it's scary.

I'll admit that i expected an answer by now. The length it's taken for them to either report the motive or uncover it does lead to some wild theories and makes it much harder to not latch onto some of them. I understand that some people just snap. But snapping and meticulously planning something? I don't know. I fear 20 years from now this is no different than the "second shooter" jfk stories or the ridiculous 9/11 inside job missile conspiracies. Unless we get some very clear and believable facts soon that will surely be the case.

same. and when i was lucky enough to hunt out the back door i slammed one down pretty quick while eating my light breakfast. the issue with me and coffee is that it gets things moving about an hour in lol. i also think it makes my pee stink but falling asleep is worse. Early bow season i'm not sure i even need the caffeine i'm so excited. but we all know the season can drag. during all day gun sits i usually opt for an energy drink that i can drink at any temp and isn't as messy or a heavy thermos. dont like the sound of opening it though.

i agree, but that wack job who popped that innocent lady in a park (i think it was batavia) a few weeks ago? That shit just isn't right. and think of it as a peace offering. Remember when peta gets all huffy puffy and we show how much money we've put into conservation? shuts them right up.

wtf. same here. And they all know i hunt and this is when i take vacation. not in the summer like a "normal person" lol.

If i'm sending a quick text to a buddy or hunting partner to let them know it's down or what not it looks like this If i'm posting to share, i do try to stick the tongue in and clean any blood within reason and without a lot of effort. Also cover the gut with leaves. just my style.
