  1. Dude your first post was an attack... How do you expect us to take you seriously? You can't type and you haven't proven you're an experienced hunter. The internet is full of trolls so forgive us for wanting some proof. The opinions of some guys here are held higher than others because they've prove themselves. That's how the world works. Prove you're good at what you do or make good decisions and you're promoted. Until then, to us you're on the welfare. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I was going to ask the same. And will add that the population has gone up in some places. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Is that a serious post? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. That doesn't even make sense. Are you on the rag again? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Proof reading your post will help you get your point across. Do a little research on gun season lengths in some of the "best states" and you'll find them much shorter than NY. To the rest of your post, there's some very valid and true points. Bow hunters are usually the most passionate about deer hunting because the amount of time and effort it takes. We know plenty of gun hunters who just hunt a weekend or 2 and that's just fine. But I believe within any group of people you will find the most passionate members "pushing"and promoting it and unfortunately an elitist mentality forms and we end up putting down others. Look at serious golfers putting down the guys drinking and slicing into the woods, computer gamers putting down console players, the guy with the $4k road bike putting down the trek. Harley's vs Yamaha, Muscle vs rice etc. the list goes on and it's not unique to hunters. The group as a whole in any category will need to stay together against those apposed. Think of motorcycle riders as a group. Many legislation and people against them, and together they can unite to support their cause but within, its sport bikes verses cruisers and manufacturers within groups. And this is even more true with hunting. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Have you all sent your thank you notes to governor cuomo? Since we're bringing up old threads and sending praises to the NYCC, let's not forget this post: http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/21048-governor-announces-support-for-crossbows-in-ny/ Just wait for the newspaper headlines from such wonderful publications like the Outdoor News singing his praises as a supporter of NY outdoorsman right? 7. If they can't make that distinction, why are they capable of deciding which weapon should be legal?
  8. I never said no to a compromise and always admitted it was inevitable. That doesn't mean I like it. I find it odd the crossbow has a greater setback distance... I mean considering they're the same as a compound bow and all
  9. That's awesome. That cam takes some nice pics
  10. I believe only certain features require a subscription, like video chat.
  11. Good point. A lot if chokes don't like hevi, including most factory chokes. Make sure you research before you buy.
  12. In regards to my term "expert hunter" I was referring more to the 70 yard bow shot. And I agree with the rest if what you said. Although I do believe veteran hunters can afford longer shots. Just not 66 yards.
  13. to the "expert" hunter it's possible. But most of us are not experct archers or turkey hunters. But just like the guy that buys the same driver tiger woods uses and expects to hit as far, the hunting world is full of the same type of person expecting unrealistic results and the marketers pray on it. Only difference is that in golf you just loose some balls. In the woods, you wound an animal.
  14. Some stories I've heard from the old timers is that the daks used to be "the place" to hunt and through hunting pressure and believe it or not conservation it began to falter. As many of you know some of the best things you can do for the deer woods is clear cut. Well this land is now all forever wild and there's little undergrowth for forage. Kind of interesting. You're not even allowed to cut up a tree that has fallen on its own. And of course no logging. One day I intend to hunt it as it has always seemed like killing a deer in the untouched mountains with a recurve would be the purest form of hunting.
  15. Matthews is the devil. My uncles and grandfather had some Oneidas. Very cool.
  16. That's me. I get something in my mind and I can't let go of it until something else comes up or I buy it. Haha
  17. Speed of dark is exactly the speed of light as darkness is the absence of light and when the light leaves making it dark... It leaves at the speed of light. Sorry I'm drinking and bored at the airport.
  18. I've heard mixed results on longbeards. I honestly don't like their ad with the Drury brothers claiming to shoot out to 60+. Those shots are not ideal for the average hunter, and an ad like that will have the weekend hunter thinking it's a good ethical shot. 40 and under and I'll stick to my hev-13
  19. Agreed. Most intelligent people realize the acts of a few idiots do not reflect that of the masses. But of course the antis put it in their cap.
  20. Saddest part of this is that Bills fans can't celebrate his legacy and morn his passing without that nagging question in their minds wondering what's next...
  21. My grandparents have had a place outside old forge near Raquet for decades. We've never hunted it even though the state land stretches forever. Part of it has to do with accessibility, but mostly it's that 8f and 7j are just loaded with big corn and apple fed deer and they're there up north but just not as many. It's a cool woods though. Awesome sights and smells. Been up a few times in the fall with the wife and I chat with the hunters who have camps there. Generally they harvest some very small bucks and doe. Again, the deer and big guys are there so don't be discouraged... They're just spread out and the easy access areas get some decent pressure.
  22. Seriously... This thread ran its course
  23. What I hear about hogs is that it all depends. And size and sex don't play a major role. Some stink and because your sense of taste is affected by smell it results in undesired meat. This is just what I've heard though. I have done no research
